Injection-induced seismicity: statistic and energetic analysis
Vlček, Josef ; Fischer, Tomáš (advisor) ; Horálek, Josef (referee)
Fluid injection into the rock formations represents a valuable analog to study the role of high-pressurized fluids in the seismogenic process. It is carried out in depths up to first thousands of meters in order to increase the permeability of rock formation for better exploitation of hydrocarbons and geothermal energy. The increased fluid pressure results in decrease of the strength of fractures and faults which causes their brittle failure that is observed in the form of microearthquakes and enables imaging of the stimulated rock volume. Besides this positive role, seismicity sometimes increases to the level that can be felt by the population, which can cause concerns about the seismic risk of these industrial operations. Thus, one of the main interests focused by recent studies deals with the maximum earthquake that can be triggered by hydraulic stimulations. I introduce the ratio between the hydraulic energy and released seismic energy, the seismic efficiency of injection, to assess the effect of fluid injection to the seismicity. This parameter is applied to data from two geothermal reservoirs (Gross Schönebeck and Soultz-sous-Forets) and one gas reservoirs (East Texas). We find that for different data sets, the seismic efficiency encompasses a broad range of magnitudes; from about 10-6 to...

In addition, the study looks at the various subsidy options available to agritouristic businesses and explains how promotion and farm certification works in practice. Finally, the thesis looks at the notion of sustainable tourism and investigates whether agritourism can be considered as one of its forms. Drawing on empirical research carried out by the author hereof, the second part of the thesis provides an analysis of discussions with Czech and Bavarian farmers running agritouristic facilities and of questionnaires filled in by their guests. This section includes a concise overview of the farms and their owners. Stejskalová, Eva ; Vlček, Josef (referee) ; Mužík, Jaroslav (referee)
A crucial source of capital and the source of economy have become an information and knowledge and their use. It changed the nature of work and labor and the importance of learning and teaching and also a sense of knowledge and its transmission, and brought changes in social, demographic and institutional sphere. The ability to use information (knowledge) and quality of products and services, undermined the quality of processes and the quality of people in the organization, decide on its success. Quality management is a dynamic process that constantly changes and develops in terms of forms, methods and content. Specific QMS types can be attributed to one of three basic concepts: industrial standards, TQM (Total Quality Management), and the ISO concept. Various approaches to quality management began to develop in the 1920s. After World War II, the issues of quality gain priority particularly in Japan and the USA, followed by Europe. At that time the first true quality management systems were established. Their significance and development rapidly grew mainly in the 1980s, when quality began to be considered a key prerequisite to success and future competitiveness. Presently, two systems are...
Explanatory factors of consumer behaviour: the survey of organic food consumers conducted on sample of inhabitants of Prague and Znojmo district
Zvěřinová, Iva ; Buriánek, Jiří (advisor) ; Vlček, Josef (referee)
Production, processing, transport and consumption of food form a significant part of the environmental burden. Organic farming and organic food production represent for many experts, policymakers and for a part of lay public a way to reduce the environmental burden. The volume of organic food production hinges on, among others, the willingness of consumers to prefer organic food to conventional food and also to change consumer behaviour. Although organic food consumer and purchase behaviour is sometimes found to be environmentally motivated, health motives are prevailing in many developed countries. Recently, organic food consumption has grown significantly in developed countries. The diploma thesis is for these reasons aimed at analysis of motivational factors and barriers that affect consumer's purchase decision-making related to organic food. First, the overview of scientific literature concerning organic food consumption behaviour is presented. Factors that explain it can be divided into four major types: attitudinal variables, contextual forces, personal capabilities and habits. In the diploma thesis, we focus on risk perception, which can be classified as the attitudinal variable. Considering the perception of health and environmental risks, it is important to point out that manufactured...
