Unconditional basic income as a solution to unemployment

In this bachelor thesis I seek an answer to a question whether universal basic income can serve as a solution to mass unemployment. I use theories that explain the causes of reduced well-being of the unemployed. According to restricted agency model, the reduced well-being can be explained by material deprivation. Latent deprivation model seeks the answer in non-material needs that are not fulfilled in unemployment. In the first part of the thesis, I make use of empirical studies of unemployment, whereas in the second part I seek the answer by analyzing European Social Survey data from Czech Republic using multiple linear regression method. In case of evidence supporting the restricted agency model, universal basic income might be a viable solution to unemployment. The results show mixed evidence for both models.

Tax Kobra assessment

The theme of my bachelor thesis is the evaluation of an investment. More specifically, the investment that I am going to evaluate is a state project of the Czech Republic called Tax Cobra, which is a little bit different in reality than in my thesis. The bachelor thesis is divided into two parts: the first is theoretical, whereas the second is practical. In the first part, I explain what the Tax Cobra is, how and why this project was made, and who the members of it are. I also explain how the investment is evaluated. I summarize the individual methods of investment valuation and other necessary indicators that are important to take into account, such as the cost per capita lor risk. There is also a description of the financial plan. In the practical part, I valuate the project by using the method described in the theoretical part. There is a substantial description of the financial plan, which is crucial for the evaluation. Following this description, I assert the methods of investment evaluation. Ultimately, I would recommend this investment based on these evaluations.

Effect of CO2 production on the water level in a closed borehole

This thesis is focused on upper mantle originated carbon dioxide exhalations in the area of Western Bohemia, particularly Cheb basin. It describes local geology, current geodynamics, earthquake swarms and related issues. The thesis introduces a simple physical model of gas- water mixture behaviour in a closed borehole. The model was created using elementary physical principles and works as a tool for simplifying the description of events, which were registered at a monitoring borehole HJB-1 at Hartoušov site. Last part of the thesis includes data which were recorded for the verification of the model. These are presented and interpreted at the end of the thesis. Organizational culture in a small company and its impact on organization efficiency

(in English): The diploma thesis deals with the analysis of the organizational culture of a small company with a specific focus. The organizational culture is a hard-to-grasp concept that affects the operation of every company. The aim of the thesis was to perform a diagnostics of the small company and provide a description of the organizational culture of this particular company, the orientation of this culture, influence on the efficiency of the company and also to try to reflect possible changes of the culture during development of this company. The analyzed company has only 11 employees and two members of the management, therefore I have described the analysis as an empirical probe. Tomake the probe as complex as possible, quantitative and qualitative methodology has been used. Due to the combination of both types of methodology, it is possible to reflect the changes in certain aspects of the organizational culture that occurred during its development and the employees' preferences regarding the future form of the organizational culture. The quantitative part of the thesis is based on Cameron and Quinn (2006) and uses the set of OCAI indicators made by them. A behavioral analysis of market failures

The thesis deals with a contemporary stream of the behavioral economics at the labour market in connection with a divergence to the neoclassical theory based on explicit assumption of rationality. The existing theoretical approaches and the examples of experiments are introduced in the theoretical part. The irrational impacts on labour market is defined by the amount of wage, unemployment, education, but on the other hand also by motivation, loss aversion, prejudices and other cognitive biases in human decision making process. The practical part is based on the standardized questionnaire survey in which the respondents were given some simplified decision making dilemmas in context of the labour market. The aim of the thesis is to observe their tendency to choose not always the most effective option and to validate the impact of irrational factors on decision making according to the theoretical approaches. Predictors of the length of working hours in the European Union Dissertation thesis Abstract Present empirical study analyses important predictors of the length of working hours. It aims at integrating existing conceptions via an approach that would synthetize findings on the influence of different factors of the length of working hours at various levels into a consistent and complex model. For these purposes it uses explorative analytical methods applied on data from the European Working Conditions Survey (EWCS). The thesis is based on two assumptions. First, it is more appropriate to study the length of working hours on the basis of its distribution than based on the average number of working hours. Second, the specific working hours are being established simultaneously at four different levels, the mechanisms of which need to be understood: at the national, sectoral and professional, establishment and household levels. The analysis performed revealed the most important predictors of the length of working hours and their mutual ties. The integration of predictors that are effective at the individual levels resulted in a model which reflects the identified relevant factors when analysing patterns of the length of working hours. White collar revisited - Millsean theory on impact of bureaucratization on social and economic development of western societies

The first part of this thesis sums up ideas, which the author had published in his essays. These ideas are mostly focused on the relationship between the class structure of current western societies and economic policy preferred by the governments. The next part is dedicated to Charles Wright Mills, his sociological method, his contribution to sociology of 50th as well as his heritage for current sociological thinking. Three idea streams, which can be used for supplementing Mills' point of view, are explained: public choice economy (mainly its version of Gordon Tullock), new class theory and theory of business innovation. New typology of business innovation is developed in this part. The core of this thesis consist in discussion of Mills' propositions about the growth of bureaucratic organizations, birth of white collars as a massive social class and its impact on social structure, economic development and political development of western societies. Mills conclusions are looked on in the light of socioeconomic development during 60 years since the first publishing of White collar. Based on available published and internet sources, this Bachelor thesis aims to provide a general overview of the shale gas, its reserves and their geographic distribution and methods of shale gas exploitation including existing experience. These data will serve for assessment of the shale gas from the viewpoint of its energetic potential for the human needs and in context of potential ecological risk related to exploitation of this fossil fuel.
