Folklore within the Music Education at Lower Secondary Schools

The graduation thesis deals with the problem of engagement of Czech folklore into the process of music education at lower secondary schools. It presents theory about Czech folklore and analyzes contemporary offer of music course books intended for lower secondary schools from the point of view of their content of folklore material. It reveals results of the research oriented on the folklore education at lower secondary schools. On the basis of these results, the diploma thesis proposes a project how to integrate Czech folklore into the music lessons as well as into other subjects taught at lower secondary schools.

This bachelor thesis is dedicated to the teachers of music at elementary and high schools in the Czech Republic. It should be used as a source of information about broadside ballads, media studies. The aim of this work is to describe the role of broadside ballads in the Czech lands as "mass media" of its time, to evaluate its artistic significance and to compare its characteristics with the current media production. Furthermore, the thesis should offer the materials and ideas for lessons of music connected to the issues of the media consumption.
The Development of Singing Skills in Children?s Choirs in the Lower Grades of Primary Schools

This diploma work is intended on the progress of singing skills in children's choirs at primary schools, it means what kind of exercises are used within the framework of voice culture. It is divided in several parts: History of children's choirs in the Czech Republic - here is brief information about development of this type of choirs in our republic. There is only general information about children's choirs until 1918 and the next years do more into details. Singing skills - here you can find several possibilities of classification (by Hana Váňová and Ladislav Daniel) and some of skills are described and explained more in detail. Games and motivations for children - it is here to bring a theory near to children. It is good to take advantage of games or another activities to progress of concrete skills. Musical activities in nursery school focused on children at two and three years

The thesis deals with the musical activities of two-year and three-year-old children in kindergarten. The theoretical part describes the characteristics of two-year and three-year-old children, the inclusion of two-year-old children in kindergarten, the importance of music and the child's musical development. It also deals with musical activities focusing on two-year and three-year-old children. The practical part of the work was focused on the research of particular musical activities in the kindergarten of the above mentioned age group from the point of view of the teachers and also on the musical environment in family. The research was conducted in the form of an interview with kindergarten teachers, a questionnaire survey among the parents of these children, and an analysis of songs and songbooks for the youngest children. The main objective was to find out how teachers perform musical activities with children, and what they see as the biggest differences between two- and three-year-old children. Next goal was to find out if parents work with children in this area and how. Whether the selected sample of songbooks contains songs of the appropriate range and pitch and whether they contain examples of possible instrumental and musical involvement of the children.
