Ethical Education; a Tool in the Prevention of Bullying

This thesis, "Ethical Education; a Tool in the Prevention of Bullying" defines the concept of bullying, maps its consequences and offers solutions for its prevention. It considers the roots of such intimidation, while examining the conduct of both willing and unwilling participants. 'Ethical Education' can be an effective bullying prevention tool when implemented as an intentional set of activities within primary educational settings. This work describes the contents and methods used to put 'Ethical Education' into practice, with all theoretical approaches reflecting practical educational elements. Research was conducted in Czech primary schools and investigated degrees of bullying, helpfulness, and levels of empathy among pupils receiving varying levels of ethical education.

Education of children of foreing nationalities at Czech schools

In the theoretical part of my thesis I address the issue of minorities and the members of minorities and their specific educational needs. I share the experience I gained at the international school, Riverside School, where I performed my practical teaching and taught for a further semester. I draw upon the variety of experiences of teachers and pupils. I describe the situation regarding the education of foreign children in the Czech Republic and at the end of the theoretical part I outline the situation in the United States of America. In the empirical part I attempt to determine by means of a questionnaire survey to what extent teachers and schools are prepared for their work with foreigners, whether they have a support system and whether they consider the phenomenon of foreign children at Czech schools to be a problem. In the end I compare the situation at Czech schools with the situation at schools in the USA.

Feedback techniques in experiential education

The diploma thesis "Feedback techniques in experiential education" disserts upon use of review in experiential education. Feedback techniques in the field of experiential education can be applied both in school environment and out of school. The thesis is divided into three chapters: Experiential education, Review and Feedback techniques. The concept of this thesis stems from experiential education. An active and lively approach is characteristic for this branch of pedagogy. The concept of experiential education is put into practice through experiential learning. One of the integral components of experiential education is review. This process enables to transform one's experiences into personal experience. Dealing with review is an educative process which fulfils pedagogical goals. This diploma thesis allows applying different samples of feedback techniques in groups consisting not only of children or adolescents, but also of adults.

Selected Problems of School Communication

Diference v současném pojetí obecné pedagogiky se zřetelem ke vztahu učitele a žáka v kontextu pedagogické a školské komunikace. Cílem tohoto úvodního výkladu je vyjít z novějších prací zaměřených na obecně pedagogickou problematiku, a to právě z těch prací, které jsou svým charakterem určeny ktomu, aby ovlivňovaly především posluchače pedagogických oborů na vysokých školách, zejména na pedagogických fakultách. Půjde nám při tom o to, abychom zjistili, nakolik vytvářejí prostor pro současné chápání komunikace mezi učitelem a žákem. Jak bude dále zřejmé, nechceme tuto komunikaci chápat v úzkém smyslu a v zjednodušené diferenciaci zvlášť na činnosti vzdělávací a zvlášť na činnosti výchovné. Jde naopak o pohled komplexní, syntetický - začleňující komunikaci učitele a žáka do celku vzdělávacího a výchovného procesu uskutečňovaného ve školním prostředí. Proto nepůjde o celkové posouzení a zhodnocení těchto prací, další řádky budou zaměřeny na to, do jaké míry jsou slučitelné s podobory pedagogických věd jako je pedagogická komunikace a školská komunikace (srov. podrobněji dále). The Development of Primary Education in the Modřany District up to the year 1939

V úvodu diplomové práce jsem si vytkla v podstatě dva cíle: zhodnocení vlivu některých obecných faktorů na chod a vývoj školy a zachycení pestrosti jejího života. Nyní se pokusím shrnout zda a jak bylo mé úsilí úspěšné. Předeslanými faktory jsem měla na mysli především přírodní podmínky, státoprávní uspořádání státu, jeho legislativu, hospodářskou orientaci obce, sociální strukturu jejího obyvatelstva. Studiem dobových pramenů a seznamováním se s chodem a vývojem školy jsem došla k závěru, ze i tak vágní okolnost jako jsou přírodní podmínky panující v oblasti Modřan do fungování školy zasáhly. Na mysli mám nejen klimatické změny, jako jsou dlouhé a třeskuté mrazy, jejichž následkem (často ve spojení s ekonomickou situací obce a státu) byly občasné uhelné krize a uhelné prázdniny nebo šíření epidemiologických onemocnění. Přírodní silou, která nezřídka zasáhla do života celé obce, tedy i její školy byla řeka Vltava. Ve sledovaném období se připomínala většími či menšími záplavami. Školy byly v těchto chvílích prvním a do postavení sokolovny v roce 1923 také jediným útočištěm postižených rodin.

Pre-registration nurse education in the Czech Republic and in selected countries of the EU

Tématem diplomové práce Profesní příprava ošetřovatelek (zdravotních sester) v ČR a ve vybraných zemích EU je problematika vzdělávání zdravotních sester ve vztahu k základním směrnicím, které toto vzdělávání v Evropě ovlivňují. V úvodu je stručně nastíněna historie ošetřovatelství jako oboru a dále jsou zde uvedeny základní evropské normy, které se věnují problematice vzdělávání zdravotních sester. Je to jednak Evropská dohoda o vzdělávání sester č. 59 (European Agreement on Instruction and Education of Nurses) Rady Evropy a jednak dokument Rady Evropy - Role a vzdělávání sester (The Role and Education of Nurses, Strasbourg, 1995). Tyto dokumenty pOdrobně rozpracovávají jednotlivé direktivy, včetně rámcového obsahu studia vodborných předmětech. Z těchto dokumentfi také pro členské země EU vyplývá nutnost úpravy vzdělávání zdravotních sester, a to při respektování domácí tradice. Kromě EU se problematice věnovala i Evropská úřadovna WHO a vytvořila program Strategie NUR/WHO EURO 2000. Tento program byl přijat na konferenci v Mnichově v červnu 2000 ministry zdravotnictví dotčených členských státfi WHO a tím se snaha o sjednocení přípravy zdravotních sester rozšířila i na evropské země, které nejsou členy EU. Aesthetic and Body Movement Education in the Waldorf Pedagogy.

Over the last few decades there has been a detectable increase in public awareness of the complexity of human being. While in the former years cognitive faculty (measured by IQ tests) was the main matter of psychological interest, nowadays experts are focusing more on the other components of mental activity: emotional, social and creative intelligence. It is beyond dispute that school should foster the development of all these qualities; however, a question rises over the educational procedures and methods which should be employed to reach this high idea. One of the possible ways is represented by waldorf pedagogy whose main aim is to nourish and develop children's minds, hearts and souls and guide them on their way towards becoming valuable members of human society.

Media education in terms of language learning using the example of teaching French

The aim o f the thesis is to elaborate the methods o f education o f future teachers in the field o f reception and analysis o f media texts (especially o f the printed media). Even if the school subject media education in the Czech republic has been newly introduced (as well as frequently discussed), the present topic did not find a due place in the curricula at the faculties o f education (preparing the teachers for secondary schools, in particular for grammar schools). The media education may be considered either as a particular school subject or as a component o f relative school subjects, e. g. o f mother or foreign language teaching, civics, history etc. Its contents includes a large scale o f topics - media institutions, functioning o f media channels and media market, critical reading o f media texts, analysis o f the forms o f media manipulation and stereotypes, publicity etc. It is mostly this interdisciplinary approach which situates the media education within the wider picture o f a rather complex study o f language acquisition.
