History and Present of Sports in Čáslav Sport Facilities Vodranty
Váňová, Lenka ; Kašpar, Ladislav (advisor) ; Hronzová, Marie (referee)
Precis The History and Present of Spors in čáslav Sport Facilities Vodranty This thesis is focused on the development of Čáslav's forest park Vodranty from its inception to the present form. In each section you can find information about the most commnon sports that are part of the sports complex in Vodranty. It includes athlete, football, swimming and tennis. Each chapter deals with one of the mentioned sports and we can find out more dates about gradual inception and development of these sports. Many sports talented and exceptional people were brought up in Vodranty, but the main aim of thesis was expressing complex concepts of Čáslav's sport, which is concentrated in one place. Thesis also provides complete and chronological sorted file of information relating to sports activity in the forest park Vodranty.
Population trends of animals of different taxa and regions on the basis of the Living Planet Database
Váňová, Lenka ; Storch, David (advisor) ; Hulva, Pavel (referee)
The analysis of population trends of animals is increasingly being used not only as an indicator of population changes, but also as an indicator of biodiversity decline. Living Planet Index is one of such indicators, as it shows a proportional decline or increase of all populations by means of mean annual changes in population abundance. Since the first presentation of the index in 1998, its values have been decreasing, which was interpreted as indication of a critical state of global biodiversity. Nevertheless, there are some issues concerning the index. It is unclear to what extent is it robust, if it is not too much influenced by biased data or if it does not comprise a systematic error. This thesis focuses on four vertebrate taxa and its aim is to examine the level of data heterogeneity and their potential influence on the index. For this purpose, two parameters were defined for each population, Growth and Trend. Overall, the trends in abundances were quite balanced, some populations being decreasing, some increasing, and stable populations were also present. Despite of our expectations, the heterogeneity in the data was not large enough to have a substantial effect on the index. Analysis of trends in variously defined groups (e. g. "biomes", taxa or biogeographic realms) revealed only little...
Evaluation of investment funds efficiency using DEA with diversification
Váňová, Lenka ; Branda, Martin (advisor) ; Kopa, Miloš (referee)
This thesis deals with models with diversification in the data envelopment analysis with application in finance, which aims to maximize expected profit and minimize risk. First, let's look at the different risk measures that are used to quantify risk and that are often chosen as inputs in models in data envelopment analysis. We pay special attention to the Conditional Value at Risk and its properties. Next, we introduce the basic models of data envelopment analysis models, then we propose a model extended by diversification. We follow up with this by converting the diversification model to the linear programming problem for computational purposes. We also get acquainted with the topic of responsible investing and how scores in this topic are assigned to investment funds. We then use this knowledge in the application of the diversification model to real data. 1
Extinction risk and population size
Váňová, Lenka ; Storch, David (advisor) ; Reif, Jiří (referee)
There is generally accepted assumption that the probability of extinction risk increases with decreasing population size. But it's not sure at all, to what extent does this relation really work in real populations. The amount of studies dealing with this topic is on the increase, but still it's necessary to carry on researching. Previous results indicate that inspected connection is indeed true in many populations, in other words, preferential extinction of less abundant populations functions properly. Yet the dependence isn't as unambiguous and strong as expected. Many exceptions are known as well, which demonstrate that low number of individuals doesn't always have to be a disadvantage in terms of survival chance. Such deviations can be found both in paleontological papers and among current populations. For example, mass extinctions represent that kind of a special exception because each of them was probably driven by a different mechanism, so in one case the abundance could be an advantageous trait, whereas in another it was rather disadvantage. In my work, I briefly mention themes referring to extinction in general and subsequently I try to summarize findings about the phenomenon of population size and its connection to extinction risk. On the basis of explorers' ideas and by means of...
