Impact of volcanic activity on environment and climatic conditions during geological history of the České středohoří Mts.
Zajícová, Jana ; Kvaček, Zlatko (advisor) ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (referee)
The influence of volcanoes on climate is very often debated, not only in the scientific community. However, the question remains, how much may the volcanic activity contribute to the significant ganges, that could cause a response of environment, which lies in the immediate vicinity. These changes could arise as a response on prolonged exposure of the negative influence, which would last much longer than decades, like it is at present. From this reason the situation in the České středohoří Mountains, where the volcanic activity lasted for several million years during the Paleogene period, is studied. This area is extraordinally rich in deposits of so-called volcanic floras, which accompany the neovolcanic activity. The age of the localities are between late Eocene to late Oligocene and it is a long time enough for recognizing some changes in the floristic composition to help elucidate the given problem.
Post-mining Nature and Living Conditions in Kladno Region and their Perception by Pupils of the Basic School
Krausová, Jana ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
9 ABSTRACT The time of coal and drilling rigs is over. Town citizens, children and especially youth are losing awareness of its recent history as time passes by. This thesis aims to contribute to prevent from losing of unity of town citizens, the town and its problems. Its goal is to create and to document on the sample of pupils of primary schools a level of knowledge of history and development of the town and the region. To reach this goal it was processed and evaluated a knowledge survey whose results formed the basis for the development of an educational program. Its goal was to acquaint students with the state of the landscape of its region, which was affected by coal mining and the subsequent development of heavy industry, to let them realize what phases the town had to go through to become the town they live in, how profitable was mining of coal to the town and what consequences it brought. Some consequences were positive and some were negative. In the introductory part of this thesis in order to introduce the main issue, the brief evaluation of the development of the region and also the description of the consequences of the mining process is placed. Machová, Jitka ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Skýbová, Jana (referee)
1 ABSTRACT: The master thesis presents characteristics of the three localities around the Bílina town, i.e. Bořeň Hill, Bílina Castle park with Bezovka Walley and Bílina Spa garden, as an objects of field education focusing on general natural science, biology and geology. It includes integrated didactic materials that are suitable for realization of the field excursions during every season. The excursions are designed to be applicable for pupils of second grade of elementary school, eight-years gymnasium, eventually for free time activities of child leaded by natural history oriented organizations. The materials can be also used as the base of the pedagogical work within the "Environmental Training, Education and Culture" system. The suggested excursion guides include methodological description, worksheets, didactic games and other supporting materials. As a case study the excursion to Bílina Spa garden has been evaluated by three pupils' groups in the age interval from 8 to 17 years. The obtained results prove that field education positively influence a learning process. KEYWORDS: Didactic material, Field education, Excursion, Botany, Geology, Zoology, Bílina
Morphology Characteristics of Simple Leaves
Křečková, Jana ; Novotný, Petr (advisor) ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (referee)
This bachelor thesis treats morphology characteristics of simple leaf. It works with recognized methods of leaf morphology stated within Ellis et al. (2009). The goal of this thesis was to evaluate use of this methods for describing leaves of recent species of Central Europe. The second goal was to organize morphology characteristics of chosen leaves. First part of the thesis treats theoretical leaf morphology, discusses different approaches of defining certain leaf characteristics and contains drawings of selected characteristics. The second part of the thesis contains main description of chosen sample using methods within Ellis et al. (2009). It describes sample selection, its processing and recognition of partial characteristics. Final descriptions are organized to charts according to aforementioned methods and listed as Appendix A. Special attention was dedicated to clarity, explicitness and applicability of morphology characteristics. This part of the thesis also treats difficulties and surprises arising through defining morphology characteristics. Key words: morphology, leaf, leaf morphology, simple leaf.

Title: The proposal of the Geological Trails in the Area of the Rychleby Mts. Abstract: This thesis is devoted to draft for new nature trails in the area of the Rychleby Mts. with a specific focus on geology. The proposed trails are preceded by detailed characteristics of geomorphology, geology and stratigraphy of the studied area. The trails are located in two areas, i. e. the northern part of the Rychleby Mts. (Račí údolí - Zálesí - Javorník) and Žulová highlands (Around Žulová pluton). The first mentioned trail is designed in two levels of difficulty for elementary and secondary schools. The trail are supplemented by specific guidebooks, worksheets and the "Didactic recommendation for teachers", which included general didactic recommendations, next detailed information about the trails and suggestions for other additional activities. The trails had been verified in practice on students, amateurs and experts. Anthe effectiveness of the trails was evaluated through surveys with participants. It has been proved that the trails are suitable complement of education process mainly for natural science and the trails are also useful for non-educational leisure activities for visitors of these areas. Key words: nature trail, the Rychleby Mts., excursion, pedagogical uses

Current view on the biology of theropod dinosaurs
Honskus, Adam ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (advisor) ; Řezníček, Jan (referee)
This bachelor thesis hes summarised available data from morphology, anatomy, ecology, ethology, ontogeny and phylogeny of theropod representatives of the clade Dinosauria that are based on the recent results deriving from the application of modern scientific methods and technologies. Main methods are laser scanning, computed tomography, electron microscope analysis and virtual and physical model reconstruction. Application of these results have changed radically historical and dogmatic point of view on this fascinating group of dinosaurs that had ruled on the Earth for more than 150-million years. Term of evolution and its understanding by students of secondary schools and high schools
Müllerová, Lucie ; Teodoridis, Vasilis (referee) ; Pavlasová, Lenka (referee)
This thesis deals with the conception of evolutionary topic in schools and textbooks. It introduces education systems and curricular documents of England, Scotland and the Czech Republic. Based on this information an analysis of biology textbooks was made, which was focused on the theme of evolution. The research included 62 textbooks distributed by 27 different publishers. Comparative SWOT analysis of these textbooks has shown that the concept of biology in general is presented differently, what is also reflected in the interpretation of the studies of evolution. The questionnaire research based on those findings was done in the Czech Republic. It is focused on secondary school and high school pupil's knowledge and their personal opinions about this topic. 586 pupils took part in this research. It was found that in the context of evolutionary processes the pupils have problems to use commonly known biological, or evolutionary terms (e.g. adaptation, evolution of the organisms). On the other hand some pupils can easily define some more complicated evolutionary topics such as Neo-Darwinism. Pupils have quite various personal opinions on the issue of the evolution. Some of them are not interested in this area; the others have many questions about the topic of evolution. Some questions are relevant,...
