Teaching Advanced Python through Automatic Feedback to Student Codes
Letý, Pavel ; Škoda, Petr (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This master thesis is focused on tutoring systems and their practical usage in education. In the theoretical part of this work is introducted architecture of this systems together with characteristics of types and examples. Next there is a description of systems in programming courses. Based on this knowledge application for teaching Python through feedback to student codes is proposed. Implementation and presentation of tests results, gained in interaction with real users, are introduced in the practical part of the work.
Consistency Checking of Relations Extracted from Text
Stejskal, Jakub ; Otrusina, Lubomír (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This bachelor thesis is dedicated to mechanical techniques that are used in the natural language processing and information extraction from particular text. It is approaching the general methods that starting to process the raw text and it continues to the relations extraction from processed language constructs, moreover it provides options for the use of obtained relational data which can be seen for example in the project DBpedia. Another milestone of the described bachelor thesis is the design and implementation of an automated system for extracting information about entities, which do not have their own article on the English version of Wikipedia. Thesis also presents algorithms developed for the extraction of entities with their own name, the verification of the articles ‘existence of the extracted entities and finally the actual extraction of information about individual entities, which can be used during the information consistency checking. In the end, it can be seen the results and suggestions for further development of the created system.
A Tool for Editing and Comparing LMF Dictionaries
Fešar, Marek ; Kouřil, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The diploma thesis presents dictionary formats and focuses on principles and semantics of data storage using Lexical Markup Framework. Contains information on relationship between the framework and Data Category Registry, which is part of the ISO standard for further dictionary data specification. After that, the Oracle Berkeley database system for XML document storage is mentioned followed by approaches for addressing documents and its portions. Methods for dictionary comparison are being described as well as grouping and changing dictionary content. Help on the process of dictionary modification must be provided to the user in the way of showing expected features, relevant to the selected element.
Algorithm Animation in Flash
Malčík, Dominik ; Štancl, Vít (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The main goal of this bachelor's thesis is to discuss and demonstrate possibilities of an algorithm animation within Adobe Flash platform. The second chapter contains a RIA technologies survey including a short review of the whole area. Another chapter is devoted to visualization in general consequently followed by my own implementation. An evaluation of the entire work and motivation for further development can not be certainly missed out.
Using Word-Association Games for Language Teaching
Babača, Martin ; Otrusina, Lubomír (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
This thesis explores the use of the word associative game Codenames in language learning, especially learning English as the second language. In order to achieve the goal, it addresses the problem of explaining semantic relations among words. The explanations take advantage of word sketches, provided by the Sketch Engine tool, and of word descriptions available in specialized English dictionaries. The implemented extension of the previously created engine for playing Codenames enables explaining the automatically suggested relations among the hint words and intended words in each game, motivating users for further exploration of the studied language.
Discrete Graph State Application Driver
Melkus, Josef ; Doležal, Jan (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this work is to create a framework for integration testing of C++ systems based on their state diagrams. One part of the framework is a library defining the creation and transitions of a state diagram. Another part is an interface working on this library, that records state transitions in a run of a system. Records are then compared with an etalon. Etalon is the run of the system, that we consider as correct for a given set of inputs. The last part is an application for comparing state transitions and a script for test automation. The created system was tested within a partner company.
Slovak Lemmatization
Lipták, Šimon ; Dytrych, Jaroslav (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
Aim of this bachelor thesis was to become familiar with the tools and methods for morphological analysis and lemmatization of words, to design and to implement a system for lemmatization of slovak words, which are not in dictionary and then to write their forms, to process slovak data for implementation of stemming. At the end to score prediction based on testing and to compare with available alternatives.
Derivational Analysis in Czech
Černý, Stanislav ; Schmidt, Marek (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
In the theoretical part of the thesis, we will describe word-formation in Czech from the traditional point of view. Then we will dwell on automation of word formation based on derivational rules, which we will generate from a~given dictionary. The quality of new-found words will be evaluated using four different estimations. Finally, we will review achieved results.
Morphological Analyser Implemented as FSAs
Bezák, Jakub ; Schwarz, Petr (referee) ; Smrž, Pavel (advisor)
The aim of this paper is to introduce to its reader the field of morphemics and morphemic analysis of slovak language using morphemic analyser and to signify the difference from other world languages. In this text it is also explained the importance of finding base form of words while analysing slovak texts. Other part analyses the optimal storage of large dictionaries using finite state automata minimization. The end contains the comparison between various forms of implementation.
The Trade Relations between the Hanseatic League, Livonia, Veliky Novgorod and Pskov from the 12th to the early 16th Century
Smrž, Pavel ; Picková, Dana (advisor) ; Švec, Luboš (referee) ; Voloshchuk, Myroslav (referee)
SMRŽ, Pavel, The Trade Relations between the Hanseatic League, Livonia, Veliky Novgorod and Pskov from the 12th to the early 16th Century Abstract The thesis examines the historical dynamics of interactions between the Livonian state and the Hanseatic League on one side and their eastern counterparts, the cities of Novgorod and Pskov, on the other. The study's temporal scope spans from the 12th century to the early 16th century, respectively through the year 1503. During the 12th century, merchants hailing from Scandinavia and northern German regions initiated initial engagements with medieval Russia and the final treaty, dating from the era of Grand Prince of Moscow Ivan III, was ratified in 1503. This ruler, on one hand, definitively put an end to the political autonomy of Veliky Novgorod, and on the other hand, strengthened the ties between Pskov and Moscow, thereby significantly altering the political conditions in which the two cities coexisted with their Livonian neighbours and trade partners for three centuries. The author set several objectives in addressing the chosen topic. One of them was to, through content analysis of extensive source material, particularly diplomatic treaty texts, explain how the practical dynamics of relations between Novgorod, Pskov, and their Livonian partners operated, how...
