Jiří Motl Spiritualita a duševní nemoc Role spirituality v životě lidí se zkušeností s psychotickým onemocněním Spirituality and Mental Disorder: The Role of Spirituality in the Lives of People with Experience of Psychosis Abstract The dissertation investigates the relationship of mental illness and religion. It focuses on the role of spirituality in people with experience of psychosis. In the theoretical part, the problem of drawing the line between pathological and normal spirituality is discussed, stressing the importance of a functional point of view and the need for a dialogic relationship with the ill person. The theoretical part goes on with mapping the potential of spirituality in the recovery process. Spirituality often helps the afflicted to perceive their illness as a meaningful process, making it easier to cope with the illness. At the end of the theoretical part, four alternative or complementary conceptual frameworks are presented. The empirical part consists of a qualitative research of nine subjects (believers with the experience of psychosis). The data collection and analysis is based mainly in the IPA method (interpretative phenomenological analysis). The research aims to map how mental illness affected the subjects' spirituality and vice versa....

Implementation of Ethic Education as a Supplementary Educational Subject in the Czech Republic
Motyčka, Pavel ; Stará, Jana (advisor) ; Vacek, Pavel (referee) ; Smékal, Vladimír (referee)
In this work we have been researching how Ethic Education influences the pupils behaviour and the social climate in the classroom. For this research we have used a mixed quantitative and a qualitative methodology. In the quantitative part we have realized our research through the natural experiment with one observed independent variable which applicated the programme of Ethic Education for basic school pupils and secondary school students. We have observed these dependant variables of pupils behaviour: the amount of the prosocial behavior, the amount of anxiety and the amount of the behavioural problems. In a group we have observed: the quality of the social climate and the amount of the trust. In the qualitative part we have tried to examine how pupils and teachers perceive Ethic Education and what principles they use for it. We have used these methods of collecting information: a nomination technigue, a questionary About Your Fellowstudents, a questionary About Your Emotions, a questionary CES, a questionary SDQ. In the qualitative part we have used a questionary with this open question. We think that we can make a conclusion about this research that in the quantitative part the hypothese proved that Ethic Education reduces the amount of the anxiety and the other emocional aspects within the pupils...
Psychological Aspects of Religiosity and Spirituality in Relation to Health
Hacklová, Renata ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Smékal, Vladimír (referee) ; Stríženec, Michal (referee)
This work is based on the assumption that religiosity, and spirituality can, together with other salutoprotective factors, influence physical and psychological health and personal well- being. The theoretical and empirical part come out of bio-psycho-social conception of health in relation to spiritual dimension understood as person's orientation towards the values of meaning and spirituality. In the theoretical part of the work we dealt with the definition and development of constructs of quality of life, personal well being, religiosity/spirituality, and other variables like social support, gratitude, sense of coherence, the locus of control, meaningfulness, lifestyle, which are connected to the main constructs. The work deals with the questions of measuring, epidemiological and overview studies, questions of relationship causality and hypothesis of possible psychological mediators functioning in complex relations on multiple levels of generality. The constructs of subjective quality of life, and religiosity/spirituality were operationalized as multidimensional variables. Abroad, majority of studies showed positive associations between measuring of R/S and the overall health; however, contradicting results of measuring were not rare. The relation between variables appears to be a lot more complex...
Social aspects of facial appearance
Rubešová, Anna ; Havlíček, Jan (advisor) ; Smékal, Vladimír (referee) ; Blažek, Vladimír (referee)
The dissertation thesis consists of an introductory analysis of literature and further of manuscripts, both published and submitted for publication. The analysis of literature firstly describes the theme of facial perception from the view of neuropsychology. It also discusses the question of stereotypical judgment of others according to the facial appearance and the theme of halo effect, as well as the possibility of accuracy in judging others according to their face. Further, it deals with the influence of facial appearance in a numerous social contexts (e.g. in one's career, at school, in politics). The second part of the thesis includes two reviews concerning mainly the accuracy of personality judgment on the basis of facial appearance and various aspects of facial attractiveness. Next, there are four research studies included in the thesis, which were aimed at finding the level of accuracy in judgments of Cattell's personality factors on the basis of facial appearance of an unknown individual. The results suggest that a mere facial appearance contains some relevant information regarding personality of an individual and that the perceiver is able to estimate some personality traits (mainly Social boldness, Liveliness and Warmth) relatively accurately on the basis of both, an individual picture and a...
