Test anxiety in perspective of the graduation exam
Slavík, Radovan ; Valentová, Lidmila (advisor) ; Pavelková, Isabella (referee) ; Grambal, Aleš (referee)
The subject of this thesis is test anxiety in Czech secondary school students in perspective of the graduation exam and its influence over their overall academic performance in this exam. Results of a study conducted in the academic year 2017/2018 among 439 graduating secondary school students in six secondary schools in Prague is presented The aim of the study was to verify a test anxiety model based on Lazarus's transactional model of stress, Ellis's cognitive A-B-C model and other subsequent models of different authors (e.g. Hodapp and Rost). The model used in this study thus approaches test anxiety as a form of a stress reaction that consists of three successive steps: (A) activating event in the form of a test situation, (B) cognitive appraisal, and (C) emotional and behavioral consequences part of which is the academic performance. Both steps B and C further consist of a variety of unique components and outcomes. Quantitative data collected with the utilization of an extensive test battery of eight self- evaluating tests, an anamnestic questionnaire and exam results allowed for a further statistical elaboration. Multiple linear regression, Spearman correlation and factor analysis were utilized to reduce total number of variables of the original theoretical model so that it would better and...
The effects of physical stress on short-term memory and attention in soldiers
Kříž, Michal ; Slavík, Radovan (advisor) ; Lukavská, Kateřina (referee)
The subject of this paper is the effects of physical stress on selected cognitive functions (short-term memory and attention) in military professionals of the Czech army. Results of a study conducted in 2019 among 68 Czech soldiers of two military specializations (aviators and paratroopers) is presented. The aim of this study was to verify hypothesis regarding (1) differences in observed cognitive functions in soldiers-aviators and soldiers-fighters (paratroopers); (2) influence of a one-off short-term physical stress on these cognitive functions and (3) differences in the levels of influence of this form of stress between both observed military specializations. Statistical elaboration (descriptive statistics, paired sample t-test and independent sample t-test) was processed on quantitative data collected with the utilization of the attention test d2 and my own short-term memory test. The result of this study are findings, that there are statistically significant differences in distribution of selected cognitive functions and levels of influence of physical stress among both military specializations. Key words: Memory, Attention, Soldier, Stress 1

Boys and girls apropriate appearance arrengements - what is too little and what is too much?
Čejdová, Kristýna ; Smetáčková, Irena (advisor) ; Slavík, Radovan (referee)
The central theme of this Bachelor's thesis is an human appearance. In the theoretical part, I deal with the definition of this term and outline the basic relations with other aspects of social psychology. Part of the theoretical section discusse the themes of social interaction such as social perception and cognition, how we create our impressions of other people, social stereotypes, our attitudes and nonverbal communication in conjunction with the issue of appearance. The greatest attention was devoted to the nonverbal communication, where I talk in more detail about fashion and physicality. In another chapter of the theoretical part I wrote about appearance regarding gender aspects. Besides defining the terms used, I discuss generalisations concerning masculinity and femininity and how these affect the appearance, as well as the specific characteristics of appearance that belong to each category. In next chapter of the theory I point out the importance on appearance on the whole society and the possible negative consequences, which contemporary society must recognise and deal with appropriately. In the last chapter I generally describe the adolescence and especially the importance of human appearance in this particular perioud of life. In the practical section I present research which I carried...
