Prevention of Dyslexia in the Field of Kindergarten Education

This diploma final project deals with prevention of dyslexia in kindergarten. Teoretical part has three chapters. In the first part, there is a short survey of the development literacy and definition of foundations of literacy like phonemic awareness and letter knowledge. The second part describes the world of preschooler. There is a short characterization of development of child at this age. The last chapter in theoretical part is called Prevention of Dyslexia. Practical part is based on the questionnaire for teachers. The questionnaire was originally created for the purpose of the international longitudinal study ELDEL ("Establishing the Foundations of Literacy in European Languages"). The aim of this thesis is a bit different from the longitudinal study. The objective of this thesis lay in the description of the structure of teacher's practices in prevention of dyslexia, not just in literacy foundations development and find out, which activities teachers prefer. If they are inspired by czech tradition or if they know and prefer outland views of preventiv dyslexia.
Benefits of resilience and social support in mentoring relations with school children

This diploma thesis is concerned with medium-term benefits of peer mentorng programs from the point of resilience and social support to the care recipients- children and adolescents from risk environment or with risk factors influenced. Data of this study comes from International peer mentoring survey Big Brothers Big Sisters- Pět P in Czech republic. The study is important for its in-depth and longitudinal (1 year) survey of 7 mentoring couples. Thesis is secondary analysis of mentioned study and is interessed in concepts of resilience and social support in context of mentoring community intervences. Early reading skills in children with specific language impairment

Eva Richterová - Early reading skills development in children with specific language impairment This study investigated the development of early reading skills in children with specific language impairment within a psycholinguistic framework. The investigation is based on theories concerning linguistic and cognitive skills which play a crucial role in the development of reading skills. This approach is utilized to identify groups which are at risk of difficulties in literacy acquisition as a result of language impairment. Theoretical background of reading development in children with SLI is presented, in addition to current knowledge about the relationship between language and reading skills. Studies on SLI highlight the need of longitudinal investigations, which enable better understanding of the relationship between literacy development and preliteracy skills. The aim of the study was to provide a systematic description of the reading skills development in children with SLI from first to fourth Grade. A group of 25 children with SLI was repeatedly investigated in terms of their reading skills (decoding and reading comprehension) and preliteracy skills.
