On convergence of a series
Procházka, Antonín ; Zelený, Miroslav (advisor) ; Kaplický, Petr (referee)
in English This text is devoted to the series, whose n-th term is defined by (−1)n |sin n| /n. The goal of this work is to prove convergence of this series. The solution uses standard convergence tests, the theory of Fourier Series and findings about approximation of number π. 1
Computer analysis of ultrasound images of thyroid nodules, focusing on their sonographic features and cytological findings.
Procházka, Antonín ; Smutek, Daniel (advisor) ; Rožánek, Martin (referee) ; Jiskra, Jan (referee)
Ultrasound imaging is one of the fundamental examinations of thyroid nodules, determining whether a patient undergoes a cytological examination, which is essential for the decision on a possible thyroid surgery. Unfortunately, the cytological examination has limited specificity and potential surgery carries risks. Therefore, other diagnostic methods are being sought with hope that they will be able to bring more certainty into diagnostics. One of the new methods is computer-aided diagnosis (CAD), which exhibits promising results using image analysis and machine learning. In this study, we present two somewhat similar, yet different, CAD approaches. The first approach is based on analysing entire nodules using a Segmentation Based Fractal Texture Analysis (SFTA) algorithm that splits the image into individual grayscale bands. Using this approach, we have achieved an accuracy of 92.4% using random forests (RF) and 95% using support vector machines (SVM) on a data set of 40 images evaluated by the cross-validation method. The second CAD approach is also based on the method of multiple image thresholding, but the difference is, that a larger number of predictors describing the binary texture are extracted from the individual grayscale bands. Furthermore, the analysis did not take place on whole nodules, but on...
Napier's logarithms
Procházka, Antonín ; Halas, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Moravcová, Vlasta (referee)
in English This text is devoted to the creation of logarithmic tables at the beginning of the 17th century. The key person is John Napier and the thesis focuses on his work. The goal is to explain the historical context and to show how mathematicians of that time were thinking when inventing logarithms. 1

Biventricular pacing parameters monitoring depending on the configuration of the left-ventricle lead
Procházka, Antonín ; Korpas, David (advisor) ; Penhaker, Marek (referee)
The aim of the study is to monitor three biventricular pacing parameters measured in the left-ventricle: stimulation threshold, impedance and R-wave voltage. The progression of parameters depending on the configuration of the left-ventricle lead is evaluated in this study. First aim of this study is to evaluate if the configuration has an effect on the progression of parameters. Second aim of this study is to detect and evaluate an effect of the used device. The data were collected at three intervals: day of implantation, 2nd - 5th month after implantation and 8th - 15th month after implantation. Repeated measures analysis of variance (ANOVA) and software Matlab and Statistica were used for the statistical analysis. The configuration of the left-ventricle lead and also used device were used as factors in ANOVA. The progression of parameters depending on configuration of the left-ventricle lead is not statistically significant for all quantities. Impedance with LV tip > LV ring configuration is significantly greater in every interval than impedance with other configurations. R-wave voltage and impedance increase significantly between implantation and 2nd interval and between implantation and 3rd interval. Used device does not influence values and time progression of measured parameters...
