The influence of lifestyle on relapsing among patients with alcohol dependence and with repeated stay at the detoxification centre
Duroňová, Šárka ; Kalina, Kamil (advisor) ; Popov, Petr (referee)
The main goal of this essay is to show that lifestyle has an influence on alcohol addiction and its process, but most importantly on maintaining abstinence after a treatment. From various research, which where made, is clear, that most of relapses are directly related to lifestyle of addicts (or at least to its parts such as health, social situation, economic status, hobbies etc.). That is why it is important to work on a lifestyle change during a treatment so that the addicts are in balance during the abstinence and are not exposed to risky situations which they do not know how to react to and deal with them. There is Relapse Prevention to learn these pocedures and it should be applied also during the treatment and after. Part of my essay is qualitative research, which should reflect previously mentioned phenomenons among ten respondents of detoxification centre, who experienced relapses before. I tried to prove that lifestyle and its disorders influence and increase the potential of relapse after completed treatment and it is necessary to change it during abstinence.

We completed a questionnaire based on data we obtained during semi-structured inteviews with patients and by measuring exhaled carbon monooxide concentration and we processed them using methods of descriptive and mathematical statistics. Results We were successful in proving high prevalence of smoking (p=73,7 %) and also often strong nicotine addiction (p=47,4 %) in our studied group - which can be regarded as alarming. Stress and Limbic Iritability in Depresseion and Alkohol Dependency : Craving and Depression as a Disorder of Inhibitory Mechanisms?
Jasová, Denisa ; Bob, Petr (advisor) ; Popov, Petr (referee) ; Balcar, Karel (referee)
Stress and limbic iritability in depression and alcohol dependency Denisa Jasová Abstract Depressive disorders and alcohol dependency recently present epidemiologically most significant psychiatric disorders. According to current research both diseases are multifactorial, mainly represented by genetic and environmental conditions. Several recent research studies are mainly focused on social factors related to stress and traumatic events such as neglect, deprivation, verbal, emotional, physical and sexual abuse, bullying and others. Important feature of these pathological conditions present disbalance between excitatory and inhibitory systems. In this context in affective disorders as well as in alcohol dependency these inhibitory deficits are represented by increased sensitivity and excitability of the limbic system called limbic irritability. Several studies suggested that these pathological changes may be described using the kindling model that potentially may explain limbic changes similar to temporal lobe epilepsy which may produce affective, cognitive and psychosensory symptoms but without typical changes that occur in neurologically diagnosed epilepsy. Following these findings significant correlations between depression and limbic irritability and between limbic irritability and alcohol craving have...

Design of flowrate control of solar system
Popov, Petr ; Grepl, Robert (referee) ; Vlach, Radek (advisor)
Problems of heating of supply water by solar energy are described in this paper. In term of these works was designed and realized attenuate prototype of solar system. There was realized measurements of the temperatures on this prototype and on the basis of these measurements was identified system parameters. Creation of compute simulation of solar system was the further step of this paper. The compute simulation was verified on the basis of comparing of final temperatures with experimental prototype. The design of control algorithm of flow of liquid through the solar system to reach the maximum effect of system is programme of this paper. Simulations of control algorithms are make in environment of MATLAB SIMULINK.
