Supervisor's e-mail address: robova@karlin.mff.cuni.cz Abstract: The presented work is intended to serve as a teaching material for pupils of the first year of secondary school, focusing on the basic knowledge of mathematics. Specifically, it deals with the subject matter of powers and polynomials. It is composed of two sub-sections - an educational text, in which the subject matter is clearly explained and illustrated through solved examples, and exercises to practice, which allow pupils to check, eventually improve, their knowledge. Owing to the fact that the work has a form of a web application, the emphasis is placed on interactive elements (for example, step-by-step solutions, multiple choice tests), which increase the attractiveness of the presented curriculum for pupils. Pupils are therefore able to learn and practice the curriculum by enjoyable way. The fact that the application is freely available on the Internet can also increase pupils' interest in it. The presented work is intended to serve as a teaching material in particular for pupils of the first year of secondary school, focusing on the basic knowledge of mathematics. The first part of the thesis is devoted to an analysis of existing web page, which corresponds to the theme of the diploma thesis. The evaluation takes into account the expertise as well as the scope of use of interactive elements. In the next part, the created teaching material in a form of web page is presented. It deals with the subject matter of powers, roots, polynomials and rational expressions. In accordance with current trend, the emphasis is put on both visualisation of curriculum (charts, use of graphics) and interactivity. All exercises to practise involve solution, therefore users are allowed to gain immediate feedback and thus to study individually. Web page is free available.

Spatial changes in the world economy: core areas and periphery

The position of countries in the world economy is uneven, therefore core and peripheral areas can be distinguished. However, the identification of factors, which affect economic development and thus the position of a country in the hierarchical system, is more important than the classification itself. Owing to clarity, the factors are divided into three parts: space and resources, population and production. The aim of the thesis is to analyse the most important trends (geographical, demographical and in production) in the world economy in terms of their spatial progress as well as to examine their relationship to the key indicator of the economic level, which is represented by gross domestic product per capita. At first, theoretical approaches concerning the issue are described. On their basis, a pair of indicators representing individual factor is always chosen. Subsequently, these indicators are analyzed at the country level from 1976 to 2010. Their spatial changes are well illustrated by cartograms. The last part proves by the means of mathematical statistics that the effect of geographical factors on the economic level has diminished during the examined period, whereas the effect of demographical and production factors has not changed significantly.

Japan´s position in international economic organizations

The aim of the present bachelor thesis is to evaluate Japanese position in international economic organizations on the basis of its foreign policy and economic relations. For a better orientation in the matter, a theoretical part is included. It concerns modern trends in global economy and especially international organizations as they play an important role. The second part focuses on the Japanese foreign policy since the World War II, on both regional and global level. Two case studies are included. The first one deals with the relation between Japan and ASEAN and illustrates the regional dimension of Japanese position within the international organizations. On the other hand, the second part is concerned with the relation between Japan and GATT/WTO, and therefore reflects the Japanese position within an organization with a global impact.
