Intelligent information retrieval and its trends

This thesis is focused on information retrieval in the context of its historical development, it presents trends in integration of intelligent features in it, and thus the emergence of intelligent information retrieval. Individual intelligent elements are described in a separate chapter, following chapter then introduces their use, including specific examples. Thesis also traces research on the topic of intelligent information retrieval in selected institutions both in the Czech republic and abroad; results of this survey for Czech republic are presented in the enclosed search.

OPAC of ALEPH System

This bachelor thesis presents analysis and evaluation of online catalog of integrated library system ALEPH, which was made after studying Web OPAC manual of this system and gathering information from practical testing of catalogs of National Library of Czech Republic and Regional Library of Karlovy Vary. In the first chapter, there is introduced and defined Online Public Access Catalog and its main principles and also its history is presented. In next chapters, there are described features and services of OPAC of ALEPH system followed by evaluation of its functionality in chosen libraries, which is based on practical exercises. Thesis deals with all services, that are provided by an online catalog. In the conclusion, there is summarized all information gathered and there are also presented possible extentions and improvements of OPAC of this system in the future.
