Hanzlová, Andrea ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
Title: Prevalence of asymmetric lateral disability on musculoskeletal apparatus in the neonatal age and infancy. Objective: The purpose of this research thesis was to compile issues of possible types of asymmetric musculoskeletal impairment observed in neonates and infants, identify potential causes of these asymmetries and lateral predilection for reported types of asymmetries. The main subject of discussion are just found lateral predilection of asymmetries and relationship of their causes with prenatal, perinatal or postnatal period. Methods: This thesis is structured in the form of literary research and has descriptively- analytical character. Results: On the basis of the analysis of available sources about the asymmetric musculoskeletal impairment in neonates and infants a comprehensive picture of possible types of these impairment, their causes and lateral predilections was made. The vast majority of reported asymmetric impairment seems related to prenatal or perinatal period. Key words: asymmetry in infancy, birth injuries, congenital defects, positional preference

Sedláková, Barbora ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Břečková, Gabriela (referee)
Title: Spontaneous activity of lower limbs in a vertical position in the aquatic environment Objectives: The aim of this study was to determinate whether spontaneous activity of lower limb in the aquatic environment enable to determinate preferred swimming stroke of an individual. Also, whether identified asymmetry of the lower limbs during treading water depend on passive range of hip joints. Methods: Spontaneous activity of lower limbs in a vertical position with a hands and head out of water was recorded on video. Passive intra/extrarotion, flexion, extension, abduction in hip joints were measured using mechanical two-arm goniometer. Qualitative analysis of spontaneous activity of lower limbs recorded on video was conducted using Kinovea 0.8.15. Results: According to the results of our work, it can not be said that the preferred swimming stroke can be determined on the basis of the spontaneous activity of the lower limbs in a vertical position in the aquatic environment. We can assume that the individual chose the pattern of treading water according to an energetically economical way while minimizing resistive forces and not in pursuance of preferred swimming stroke. Bilateral asymmetry (left-right) during the water treading movement was detected in the whole group. The most significant...

Boráňová, Martina ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Vomáčková, Helena (referee)
Title: The comparison of stereognosis and pallesthesia of the preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy Objectives: To the objectives of the work belong the processing and compilation of information concerning laterality and sensation in the region of the upper extremities, then to evaluate the preference of the upper extremity by means of elected tests in 30 students of physiotherapy and to evaluate, whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia is higher in the region of the non- preferred upper extremity than in the region of the preferred upper extremity or whether the sensitivity of stereognosis and pallesthesia both of the upper extremities do not differ. Methods: The tasks of the work were dealt with four tests directed to the examination of preference, stereognosis and pallesthesia in the region of upper extremities. The statistic analysis of the results of the examination was carried out by means of paired t-test. Results: In the examination of pallesthesia in the region of processus styloideus radii and in the examination of stereognosis the null-hypothesis, that the sensitivity of pallesthesia / stereognosis examined by selected test in the region of preferred and non-preferred upper extremity in students of physiotherapy does not differ, was at...
The Effect of Taping on Postural Stability in Patients with Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction on Posturomed Platform after Rehabilitation using Postural Therapy
Indrová, Zuzana ; Rašev, Eugen (advisor) ; Nováková, Tereza (referee)
Title: The Effect of Taping on Postural Stability in Patients with Anterior Cruciate Ligament Reconstruction on Posturomed Platform after Rehabilitation using Postural Therapy Aim: Objective evaluation of the effects of kinesiotaping and functional taping on postural stabilization during standing on one foot in patients after anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction on the defined unstable Posturomed platform. Methods: The thesis is based on analytical-comparative study. The subjects of the study were patients after ACL reconstruction, who have done fifteen rehabilitation sessions which included postural therapy. The patients were subjected to a "3-step stand on one foot" test to standardize measurement. Three kinds of measurement were applied: without taping, kinesiotaping, and rigid-functional taping taped bilaterally above the m. vastus medialis. Results: The measurements on the Posturomed suggest that the ability of postural stabilization differs on each lower limb in patients after an ACL reconstruction. The application of taping had an effect in the majority of cases, although it was a negative effect on postural stabilization in most kinesiotaped measurements compared to un-taped measurements. The functional taping, on the other hand, had mostly positive reactions unlike with the...
Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient After Stroke
Kofránková, Vlasta ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Hrdý, Tomáš (referee)
Title: Case Study of Physiotherapy Treatment of a Patient After Stroke Objective: To evaluate the effects of physiotherapy care on the patient. Methods: The first general part provides the description of the desease itself, its pre- valence in the Czech Republic, etiopathogenesis, clinical features, prognosis and current therapeutic approaches in acute, sub-chronic and chronic stages. Re- commendations for primary prevention of cerebrovascular accident are described. Post-stroke patients with permanent disabilities run high risk of falling. Some selected methods (tests) are presented to evaluate the patient's balance ability (e.g. Berg Balance Scale, BESTest). The special part of this work presents a case study of a post-stroke patient, the course of the therapy and an evaluation of its effects. Results: The physiotherapy care has led to improvements of gross and fine motor skills and increased the patient's independence in everyday living. Conclusion: It is important to maintain optimal health, independence and self- sufficiency of patients in the chronic stage. Specially developed functional tests can be used to evaluate the patient's condition and to choose an effective therapy. Keywords: stroke, brainstem stroke, cerebrovascular accident, falls prevention, Berg Balance Scale, BESTest

V experimentální části byly měřeny ampér-voltové I/V, ampér-časové I/t a impedanční charakteristiky, jejichž data byla následně zpracována pomocí např.
Application of Orthopedic Insoles in Childhood
Svobodová, Julie ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
Title: Use of orthopaedic insoles in childhood Supervisor: PhDr. Tereza Nováková, PhD. Problem definition: The importance of the longitudinal arch is one of the most discussed topics in orthopaedics. Similarly important is the indication of orthopaedic insoles for flat feet especially in children. Experts have different opinions about what age insoles should be prescribed, and if their use is beneficial. So far, a clearly defined boundary has not been established between real pathology and a flexible flat foot formed on the basis of hypermobility which is to some extent physiological in childhood. Aim: To compare the plantograms of groups of six-year-old children with diagnosed pes planus/planovalgus before and after six month (or more) use of, individually prepared, insoles. To compare the results with a group of children that did not have insoles prescribed and on this basis to judge whether there was change (improvement) that can be proven with the use of a plantogram. Method: Two groups of six-year-old subjects were formed. The experimental group: subjects with prescribed orthopaedic insoles, and the control group: subjects that were not prescribed orthopaedic insoles. Plantograms were evaluated with the help of the Chippaux-Šmiřák index method. Conclusion: The results indicate a partial...
Influence of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot in preschool-aged children
Řehůřková, Markéta ; Nováková, Tereza (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
Title: The effect of sensomotoric stimulation on flat foot of children Introduction: Flat foot is a common health problem in childhood. Its development is related to congenital or acquired dysfunction of the plantar vault. There is no single opinion on the criteria for diagnosis and therapy forms. The aftereffects and health risks of flat foot are often neglected. The therapy form of sensomotoric stimulation, including balance exercises and walking barefoot over different surfaces, could be an appropriate part of the physical activities and games for children in kindergarten. Objectives: The main objective of this work is to evaluate the effect of sensomotoric stimulation of flat foot at preschool age. Methods: The research contains 21 children. Forty-two foot prints were taken at the beginning of the therapy. Three methods were used to evaluate the foot prints: the Chippaux-Šmiřák method, the Godunov-Sztriter method and the Mayer method. The therapy form of sensomotoric stimulation included balance exercises and walking barefoot over different surfaces. The duration of therapy was 15 minutes each school day for six months. The control foot prints of 15 children were taken after the therapy and the results were compared with the foot prints before therapy. Results: The research contains twenty-one...
