Fear of pain and coping strategies: construction of the DCB 3 inventory
Brožek, Tomáš ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor)
New method for assessment of positive coping in chronic pain is presented. The coping with pain inventory (DCB 3) consists of three scales: Defiance (9 items, Cronbach's = 0, 84), Determination (5, 0,772) and Acceptance (5, 0,75). Relitability and validity was examined on the sample of 104 patients of the Military rehabilitation facility Slapy (45 M, 59F, mean age 55,25, SD 11,5), suffering from chronic pain. The validity criteria were inventories of the Pain center in the Teaching hospital in Motol. All scales were standardised.
Validation of Stroop color and word test on Czech population
Krivá, Ľuba ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Preiss, Marek (advisor)
Due to the fact that attention is a central issue in cognitive sciences, there is a growing need for robust tools for assessing attentional functioning in individuals from clinical, as well as non-clinical populations: the Stroop Color and Word Test (SCWT) is one of the standard measures. The thesis provides material intended for construction of the Czech version of the SCWT manual. In addition to discussion of theoretical issues of the Stroop eect, the thesis includes review of studies on psychometric characteristics of the test and discusses the in uence of demographic characteristics on the performance in the SCWT. Furthermore, administration and scoring procedures, as well as possibilities of clinical interpretation of the test scores are described. In the second part of the thesis, we present results of research project aimed at collecting Czech normative data for the SCWT. The in uence of sex, age and education on the performance in the test was examined in a non-clinical sample aged 20 to 79 years (N = 420; 166 M, 254 F; M = 46:7 yrs, SD = 16:8 yrs). Norms for the test scores were developed separately for subjects from three age subgroups and two education subgroups. Correlational analysis of the Stroop test with two other measures of attentional and executive functioning (Verbal uency and Trail...
Wechsler memory scale - third edition, abbreviated
Jenčová, Adéla ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Preiss, Marek (advisor)
This thesis is about Wechsler Memory Scale-III Abbreviated (WMS-IIIa). WMS-IIIa is a screening test for measuring memory functioning. It contains measures of visual and verbal memory, immediate and delayed memory. Theoretical part of the thesis is an attempt of a Czech version of the test manual. It summarizes information about its original development, structure, purpose, administration, scoring and possibilities of interpretation. The empirical part is a research targeted on acquisition of Czech norms on representative sample of nonclinical population at the age of 20 to 39 years. Statistical analysis was computed from data of 154 individuals. Demografic characteristics of research group was compared with characteristics of Czech population at the age of 20 to 39 years as described by Czech Statistical Institute.
Updating of the Rosenzweig p-f study's stimulus material and its operative application
Čáp, David ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor)
The Rosenzweig Picture Frustration Study for adults has never had any created norms in terms of Czech population. Since the time of creation its graphical stimulus material became old and nearly unusable. The purpose of this text is to show the method P-F Study to the readers and than to introduce new graphical material and the emergent norms. Validity and reliability of the new version PFT (C-W) was examined on the sample of 30 students in age from 14 to 16 years. The standardisation was realized on the sample of 100 students in age from 14 to 17 years. The new norms were created for categories, S-E patterns and GCR. Also the scoring and compilation of the scoring blank was adapted.
The rate of irrational beliefs in relation to personality variables
Ivanovičová, Michaela ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Mikšík, Oldřich (referee)
Práca skúma existenciu a podobu diferencií medzi skupinami ľudí s roznou mierou iracionálnych presvedčení a ich PSSI osobnostnými štýlmi. Študentom (N=105) a psychiatricky hospitalizovaným pacientom (N=95) bol administrovaný PSSIInventár štýlov a porúch osobnosti (Kuhl-Kazén, 2002), Inventár iracionálnych presvedčení (IBI; Koopmans a kol., 1994) a škála lP A (Kondáš-Kordačová, 2000).
Introduction to depth abreactive psychotherapy
Nádaská, Vladimíra ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor)
The task of this master's thesis is to introduce Depth Abreactive Psychotherapy (DAP) to the Czech scienti:fic psychological community as well as to practicing psychotherapists. Considering this, we stated to aims. The first aim is to describe thoroughly the theory as well as the practice of the Depth Abreactive Psychotherapy. This task we solve in both the theoretical and the practical parts ofthe thesis. The second aim 1s to discover whether this altemative appruach is in fact psychotherapy in the two meanings ofthis word, as an activity and as a system. To solve this questions we compared the activity of the DAP with scienti:fic definition of both meanings of the word psychotherapy. We discovered that in formal way DAP fulfilled majority of requirements for psychotherapeutic methods as well as systems. The conclusion is a suggestion to assign DAP a status of altemative psychotherapy in both meanings ofthe word.
Wisconsion card sorting test. Screening of performance in Czech population
Kawaciuková, Radka ; Šípek, Jiří (referee) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
Wisconsin Card Sorting Test (WCST) has been published as a measure of flexibility of thinking. Soon, it became a popular neuropsychological tool sensitive to brain damage, especially frontallobes. Arising from the knowledge of relationship between frontal lobes and executive functions, WCST is also called an executive task. Various versions of the test have been developed. Heaton' s standardization is in the focus of this thesis because it is the most often used version. Wisconsin Card Sorting Test is supposed to be the most common executive measure in neuropsychological research. The test output gives us 16 various scores, which reflect different cognitive processes. Each score has been provided with normative data on American population. However, clinically the most valid scores are scores of perseveration: perseverative responses and perseverative errors. There is certain evidence of impaired performance in patients with frontal lobe damage, especially left-side. Additionally, assumptions arising from physiological studies on healthy people or patients with various types of neurological illnesses suggest WCST to be sensitive not only to impairment of prefrontal cortex but also to the impairment of prefrontalsubcortical circ.uit including thalamus and basal ganglia or the prefrnntalsu bt:orli ca 1 t:l...
Ego mechanism of defense in alcohol-dependent patients
Červená, Helena ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee) ; Šípek, Jiří (advisor)
The objective of this dissertation was to examine the Ego defense mechanisms and defense styles in alcohol-dependent patients. First, we introduced the phenomenon of Ego mechanisms of defense, presented the brief history resumption, outlined the major topics of clinical research interest and described the possibilities of use of defense mechanisms analysis in a clinical practice, particularly in diagnostics and psychotherapy. The Oefense Style Questionnaire (OSQ 40) was used to examine a sample of subjects (n=60) with an alcohol-dependence diagnosis. Bivariate correlation analyses yielded these results: the alcohol-dependence in women was correlated with mechanisms Idealization, Projection, Oevaluation and Isolation of affect, whereas in men with mechanisms Suppression and Isolation of affect. There was no relation between this syndrome and certain defense style approved. These results confirmed the psychogonical etiology of the above problem in women and suggest the connections with neurotic, depressive disorder, borderline and narcissistic personality disorder. In men, the possible connection between the mechanisms Isolation of affect and antisocial personality disorder is expected.
The Effect of Personal Causality Orientation on Adherence in Outpatient Physiotherapy
Kuta, Igor ; Niederlová, Markéta (advisor) ; Hrachovinová, Tamara (referee)
(in English) This master thesis deals with themes of motivations and compliance to treatment recommendations in outpatient physiotherapy. In the theoretical section it brings an introduction to the issue of adherence as a part of medical rehabilitation. It sheds some light on the importance of the research in this field and structures its span according to prescribed diagnoses and other criteria. It also shows distinctions in concepts of compliance, concordance and adherence and summarizes the findings of the most relevant directions of motivation research in this area of study. The aim of the empirical part is to capture relations between the distribution of patients' personal causality orientation and their adherence to treatment. Based on the results of a DOPO method, self-assessment of adherence and evaluation of adherence by the treating physiotherapist, from the sample of 69 patients it concludes, that there is no statistically significant relation between the aforementioned variables.
Developing a Czech version of the Resilicence to Trauma Scale - Research Edition
Blažková, Barbora ; Kebza, Vladimír (advisor) ; Niederlová, Markéta (referee)
5 Abstract Resilience, stressing out the positive aspects of personality and ways of finding sources of support for the development of the internal forces of an individual despite challenging life circumstances has been receiving more and more attention recently from both professionals and the public. Results of the resilience research are affecting theoretical concepts, however, also the areas of intervention, psychotherapy, counseling and prevention programs as well. The subject of theoretical part of the thesis was the introduction to theoretical concepts of resilience and topics related to it. A special attention has been paid to the resilience to the trauma, as well as the results of research concerning resilience sources, risk and protective factors. The specifics of resilience relating to a given age group were discussed in the theoretical part. The subject of the empirical part was to develop a Czech version of the Resilience to Trauma Scale - Research Edition (RTS-RE) and its explorative analysis in order to create a pilot version, which could become a basis for subsequent wider use in research on resilience. For these purposes two other methods were used in addition to the Czech translation of RTS-RE, namely: Beck Depression Inventory (BDI-II) and the Personal Views Survey (PVS). The results of...
