Regenerating the Civil Society in Opava

Based on a questionnaire survey, this master's thesis focuses on studying the transformation of Opava City after the breakdown of communist system in terms of the regeneration of civil society. Through comparison of the demographic, economic, political and associational life attributes of the present society with the period of the First Republic, the thesis attempts to describe how public life intervenes to the personal life of an individual, to what degree the individual identifies with it, whether it is worthy being a member of an association or club. Finally, it studies whether the associational life follows the tradition of the First Republic.
Lokal watchdog.

This master's thesis focuses on studying the function of civil control over local government and maps this practice both in the Czech and the Slovak Republic. It pursues the following questions: what is the role of watchdog NGOs in civil society and democracy? What is the watchdog concept? What is corruption and how to fight against it? Through practical examples and several case studies it describes the basic interactions of watchdog with the local environment, the sources of civil control legitimacy, and the obstacles and limits to watchdog work.
Multicultural Education Support at Present Primary Schools.

This master's thesis aims to describe the quality of multicultural education at primary schools in the Czech Republic. At the same time it studies the role of NGOs and their activities in increasing the multicultural awareness of primary school pupils. The thesis used the method of the qualitative categorization of essays provided by the 9th grade students of primary schools. With respect to this research it is suggested that the students of the schools cooperating with NGOs in the field of multicultural education do not have more positive and open attitude towards foreigners than the students of the other schools, however their knowledge in the field of multicultural education is more advanced.
Individual Fundraising with a Focus on One of its Methods - Donors Club.

This master's thesis is concerned with individual fundraising as implemented in the Czech non-profit organizations as well as with the limits and difficulties it faces in the Czech context. It focuses on the specific fundraising methods and their effectivity with respect to an individual as the target group. The donors club, which is introduced as a complex and consistent care of donors, is one of the means of individual fundraising. It also provides the case studies of those organizations where donors clubs are operated.
Talking about immigration to Europe. Analysis of facebook posts of Doctors without borders

The subject of this diploma thesis is the potential of organizations of civil society to influence public debate about immigration to Europe via Facebook. Conclusions introduced in this diploma thesis are based on my own empirical research as well as on literature focused on public relations. Research is designed as single case study of Facebook communication of Doctors without Borders. I explore the diversity of topics and argumentation present in the organization's communication, reactions of its audience and mutual interactions between organization and its audience. I explain that content, visual and formal aspects may play a key role when an organization is trying to address wide audience, whose ideas is willing to shape and influence. Research points out that the communication of Doctors without Borders about migration to Europe is one-sided, because it's mainly driven by activities and mission of the organization. This one-sidedness is partly compensated by engaged audience that enriches discussions under the Facebook posts of the organization with diverse topics and opinions. The thesis tries to capture the significance of tension between organization and its audience that raises inspirational discussions, which might not occur in case of absolute consensus. Assessing Roma inclusion specialised NGOs in terms of reacting to Roma needs

The aim of this thesis is to find out the extent to which non-profit organizations (NGOs) specialized on Roma inclusion react to their clients' needs. The thesis works with qualitative research method that is based on interviews with NGOs representatives and field researchers, and a questionnaire filled by Roma clients. The research is focused on four main factors which are: communication with Roma clients, efficiency efforts, dependence on funding requirements, and a support of intercultural meetings between Roma people and the majority. According to the results of the analysis there are different strategies amongst the organizations but all of them try to work in compliance with the needs of their clients. The experience of the interviewed field researchers and Roma clients prove that the NGOs' activities are sufficient and correspond with the real needs of their Roma clients to great extent. Comunication of Self-help Group Focused on People Suffering from Social Phobia

The aim of this thesis is to propose new ways of communication of the self-help group focused on people suffering from social phobia. The theoretical part deals with perspectives of self- help groups and participation model taking into account socio-demographic profile, barriers to participation and motivation to participate as factors influencing participation. In the empirical part the reasons for the selection of questionnaires and interviews as data collection methods are described. In the part "results and discussion" I present the results of the analysis of external communication, the characteristics of the target group, the motivation to participate in the self-help group, barriers to participation in the self-help group and I propose new ways of communication adapted to the target group.
Community planning of social services - Comparative study of towns Ústí nad Labem and Most

Designed as a comparative study, this master's thesis aims to evaluate the process of community planning of social services in Ústí nad Labem and Most, considering particularly the personal perspectives of the participants in the process, in particular their expectations, the assets, the potential changes they would propose. It is based on secondary data analysis combined with interviews.
