Hauznerová, Jiřina ; Jedlička, Richard (advisor) ; Mellanová, Alena (referee)
In recent times it has been often discussed in profesionál circles and media about the rights of patients in connection with restrictive practices. Qualitative research in graduation theses is focused in mapping of issues to manage discomposure and aggression in patients during the provision of medical care, and in application of specialized methods in a variety of health services to patients specifically intoxicated and under the influence of psychotropic medications. The aggression often comes from patients that are confused, mentally challenged, which are under the influence of hallucination and delusion and severe trauma incidents. Confused and aggressive individuals can also show signs of impatience which is triggered during time of unexpected life events or stress. In my graduate work I concentrate on the different views of this topic. In providing medical care for troubled and aggressive patients, very often the communication between the medical staff and the patient is minimal. The goal of this thesis is to uncover professional approach towards an aggressive patient in the concept of medical care. Bullying in the Intensive Care Units
Hlaváčková, Renata ; Sechovský, Hynek (referee) ; Mellanová, Alena (advisor)
Thesis examines whether mobbing occurs in the selected departments of intensive care, what nurses know about the problem and how they fight against it. The first part of thesis is theoretical. It describes the role of intensive care nurses and defines what mobbing really is. Then I focus on its occurrence, the most frequent causes, phases and techniques. In the following chapters profiles of offenders and victims are described. I also focus on the health consequences of harassment against victims. The thesis also describes how to prevent mobbing and how to cope with it. The last part is devoted to stress, which is closely associated with mobbing. Research part interprets the information obtained from questionnaires. The questionnaires were distributed to the intensive care units and AROs in five university hospitals in Prague. Statistical evaluation of questionnaires is used to confirm or refuse hypotheses I raised at the beginning of research.
The psychical Load of Intensive Care Nurses
Svitáková, Hana ; Vachková, Eva (referee) ; Mellanová, Alena (advisor)
The profession of nurse is closely connected with very intensive psychical and physical load, especially in the intensive care units (ICU). The interesting, but very sad fact, is that the mortality in ICU units in Czech republic is about 20%. Dying of each patient is of course a very stressful situation for his relatives and also for attending doctors and nurses. These frequent stressful situations result often in psychical or physical burnout by nurses in ICU. The unpleasant consequence of burnout by nurses is very often the change of job. The target of this thesis is to map the psychical load of nurses in ICU in czech hospitals. The target was met. The hypothesis number 1 was confirmed by the research. The hypothesis 2, 3, 4, 5 weren't confirmed. This diploma thesis has two main parts - teoretical and practical. The practical part of this diploma thesis is the qualitative research, that was made by questionnairies, that were sent to nurses of ICU in czech hospitals. The total number of sent questionnairies was 257 - the number of answered and returned questionnairies was 210 (82%). These 210 questionnaries were used in this diploma thesis. This research was made in january and february in 2010. The results of the research will be used in the future in czech hospitals in case of their concern. When...
