Upgrading of Viskafors Railway Station
Blaňková, Monika ; Melecký, Martin (referee) ; Svoboda, Richard (advisor)
The main aim of the diploma thesis is reconstruction of Viskafors railway station and its adjacent track at KM146+ 800 - 145+ 700 so as to satisfy the current traffic and at the same time the legislation is met. The tracks geometry and turnouts in the station was solved according to Swedish and Czech standards and conventions. As part of the reconstruction, the connection of the service track was resolved from the north side.
Competitiveness Improvements of Railway Passenger Transport in Section Unicov - Sumperk
Melecký, Martin ; Kubina, Jiří (referee) ; Říha, Tomáš (advisor)
The thesis target is to design construction treatments resulting in improving the passenger railway transport in this section. Planned modernization and electrification will change the transport nature significantly, which calls for an examination of the existing track possibilities. The task was to focus on the regarding stations as a crucial troughput aspect and on the travel quality improvment by minor construction adjustments. I have examined walking distances, designed a new Troubelice - Centrum stop. By convenient platform shifts higher velocities criteria were met. All precautions respect the wheelchair access. The station design allows higher velocities operation and do not restricts current use.
Modernization of Track Section Okříšky - Bransouze
Melecký, Martin ; Maršalík, Jakub (referee) ; Říha, Tomáš (advisor)
The major thesis goal is a track geometry design for a track speed increase while respecting a feasibility of such a project. The concerned no. 240 track section is between Okříšky railway station and Bransouze railway station. The track ballast, drainage reconstruction and construction procedure is also incuded.
Three essays on empirical Bayesian econometrics
Adam, Tomáš ; Komárek, Luboš (advisor) ; Feldkircher, Martin (referee) ; Herrala, Risto (referee) ; Melecký, Martin (referee)
The dissertation consists of three papers which apply Bayesian econometric techniques to monitoring macroeconomic and macro-financial developments in the economy. Its aim is to illustrate how Bayesian methods can be employed in standard areas of economic research (estimating systemic risk in the banking sectors, nowcasting GDP growth) and also in a more original area (monitoring developments in sovereign bond markets). In the first essay, we address a task which analytical departments in central banks or commercial banks face very often - nowcasting foreign demand of a small open economy. On the example of the Czech economy, we propose an approach to nowcast foreign GDP growth rates for the Czech economy. For presentation purposes, we focus on three major trading partners: Germany, Slovakia and France. We opt for a simple method which is very general and which has proved successful in the literature: the method based on bridge equation models. A battery of models is evaluated based on a pseudo-real- time forecasting exercise. The results for Germany and France suggest that the models are more successful at backcasting, nowcasting and forecasting than the naive random walk benchmark model. At the same time, the various models considered are more or less successful depending on the forecast horizon....

The behavioural equilibrium exchange rate of the czech koruna
Komárek, Luboš ; Melecký, Martin
The behavioural equilibrium exchange rate (BEER) model of the Czech koruna is derived in this paper and estimated by three methods suitable for non-stationary time series. The potential determinants of the real equilibrium exchange rate considered are the productivity differential, the interest rate differential, the terms of trade, net foreign direct investment, net foreign assets, government consumption and the degree of openness.

Currency substitution in the Czech republic 1993-2001
Komárek, Luboš ; Melecký, Martin
Currency substitution appears to be an important issue affecting the design of monetary policy, especially in transition economies. Therefore, this paper strives to analyse the particular relevance of the currency substitution phenomenon in the Czech Republic’s case.
