Fertility and uncertainty
Lupač, Milan ; Melzochová, Jitka (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
This paper focuses on effects of economic uncertainty on decision making about childbearing. We had used a regression analysis of unbalanced panel dataset of 27 european countries with maximal lenght of time series of 52 years to determine relationship between fertility and uncertainty. Proxy variables like real GDP per capita, unemployment and their volatilities were used to measure the rate of uncertainty. Volatilities were created by using GARCH and EGARCH models. There was found that real per capita GDP is positively related to fertility and unemployment is related negatively. On the other hand the relationship between volatilities of real per capita GDP and unemployment are positively related to the fertility, but only till the moment when the volatility reaches turning point. Thereafter this relationship turns into negative. Positive relationship on fertility was also found for infant mortality, marriage rate and female labor participation rate. Negative relationship on fertility was found for divorce rate and old dependency ratio.

Franek, Ondřej ; Svoboda, Miroslav (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
Is the position of students in classroom correlated with their academic performance? This study confirms existence of such relationship. Economics of Squatting
Knobloch, Tomáš ; Svoboda, Miroslav (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
This bachelor thesis is focused on squatting phenomenon from an economic point of view. The main attention is given primarily to the institutional structure of squats and how they are defined. Theoretical part of the study investigates formation and structure of squatting in Western Europe and Czech Republic (cultural and political demarcation, causes and motivations to stand behind). The next phase summarizes and brings closer the economic approach on which - three main hypotheses are defined. Questions are, if it is possible to say, if squats are somehow similar in terms of organizational structure to the institutional theory of the firm, how institutions and property rights are defined. Empirical part is mainly based on repeated personal observation in one of the Prague squats and on structured interviews with ex-squatters. Conclusions are limited by the nature of the data set, since it cannot be statistically tested. Nevertheless the conclusion is unambiguous. Squat communities are established through implicit contractual relationships. Internal institutions and rules are generally formed via habits. Squatters also clearly distinguish between community and private property, despite the fact that such attitude is something they criticize. Squatters in Czech Republic perceive it as a capitalistic exploitation.
What is the price elasticity of demand for owner-occupied housing for region of Pardubice?
Skalická, Eliška ; Rod, Aleš (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
This bachelor thesis examines an assumption that a demand for owner-occupied housing is price-inelastic in the district of Pardubice. The data for the period from 2008 to 2012 are used in the thesis. The test has proved the demand for housing is truly price-inelastic; it means that 1% increase in housing prices causes a decrease by 0,85 % of demands. Some control variables are also added into the model. This expanded model estimates coefficients in range from 0,72 to 0,96 in absolute values.
The Influence of Tertiary Education of Women in the Marriage Rate of the Czech Republic
Vostárková, Julie ; Chytilová, Helena (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
The mission of this work is to prove the influence of the tertiary education of women in the marriage rate. This hypothesis is examined on data of the Czech Republic in the period 1993-2010. The regression analysis confirmed the existence of this influence. The primary education and also tertiary education both have positive influence. But tertiary education has a stronger effect in the marriage rate. The model also includes variables such as the unemployment of women, the number of illegitimate children, the premarital conception and the family payment.
Use of BI as a Service
Hrnčárová, Iveta ; Pour, Jan (advisor) ; Matějka, Marek (referee)
This thesis is focused on Business Intelligence systems built on Software as a Service principles. It describes structure of this solution, it's advantages and risks and shows its benefits for the organization at the same time. These are described in two chapters, as a cost comparison of both models and as real implementation case study. First chapters are dedicated to architecture of traditional BI systems describing its components and history. Next chapter is about Cloud and as a Service technology which played a vital role in switching to BI as a Service followed by chapter about BI as a Service itself. This includes explanations of gains and potential risks and focuses on benefits of this architecture. There is a remark of certain non-confidents towards BI SaaS mostly because of the cloud part. Next chapter introduces some of the most important or most-known providers of this service followed by case study showing situation in a real company. The contribution of this thesis is mostly in its applicative part where I try to prove that BI as a Service not only supplements traditional BI solution but makes a full-value alternative.

ITIL and its Possibility of Utilization in the SMB
První obsahová kapitola definuje pojmy a uvádí čtenáře do problematiky. Druhá kapitola popisuje stav ITSM a IT governance v malých a středních firmách, nastiňuje problémy, kterým tato oblast čelí.
