Pešková, Jana ; Martínez, Felipe (advisor) ; Plášková, Alena (referee)
The Master's Thesis reviews the application of Lean management methods in the healthcare sector. The theoretical section describes the background of Lean process management - its history, principles, methods and tools. The methods currently used to manage processes in the healthcare sector are then described. The practical section of the thesis tests whether these processes could be improved by implementing a Lean methodology. A project was undertaken in a healthcare centre where the principles, tools and methods described in the theoretical section were applied. The project consisted of five phases, according to DMAIC cycle. The conclusion of the Master Thesis summarises the findings and results which evidence the improvement of the processes in this specific healthcare centre after the implementation of a Lean methodology.

Company Doosan Bobcat that has its principles implemented provides this real background. Bobcat still improve and educate itself in this area. Company offered a project from its logistics department that should optimize parts preparation for their transport from one warehouse to another, for this thesis. The project is solved within DMAIC cycle that is firstly described theoretically and then applied on. Then, the tools that are used in individual cycle phases are described as well. The results of the thesis are improvement suggestions, their implementation plan and control plan.
Applying lean techniques to improve the process of search and recruitment at blue collar workers
Panchártková, Denisa ; Martínez, Felipe (advisor) ; Kutscherová Vodešilová, Martina (referee)
The aim of the thesis is improvement of the recruitment process for the position of welder in a particular company so that the plan to hire 45 new welders would be filled until the end of 2015. As part of the process another opportunity to improve was found and defined. This secondary issue is high fluctuation of welders. Secondary targets of the thesis include mapping, measuring and analysis of the current state of new workers recruitment and also positive motivation of current welders, which create the basis for proposed changes that were later implemented. In the last step the impacts of these changes are controlled and summed up. The whole process follows the DMAIC method steps. During the real project solution tools like Lean management, SIPOC, Flowchart and Ishikawa diagram, first pass yield, A3 report and Benchmarking were used. Above mentioned methodological tools are all described in the practical part of the thesis. In conclusion, it was found out that suggested and implemented amendments improved the recruitment process by 12 percentage points. Fluctuation, the second drawback, is however not possible to measure yet as the impact of the changes will be expected to show within 1 year. Although there was a significant improvement of the whole processes, the plan was not met up to the last day in October 2015. Out of the 45 planned positions, 37 welders in total were casted.

Furthermore, for the purposes of the application part there are selected and analyzed specific tools of lean manufacturing. These include for example the spaghetti diagram, the product / process matrix and the value stream mapping as the essential tool of this thesis. All this is complemented by ABC analysis. After that these methods are also applied in the practical part for solving the current project in the selected company. At first in solving the project there is dealt with the determination of the most problematic material flow between two areas of production plant. Then there is suggested the optimization solutions and all of this is also complemented by the economic evaluation of the whole project.
