Human impact as reflected in the pollen record, with a focus on the Middle Ages
MAREŠOVÁ, Petra
Pollen analysis is an integral part of past vegetation reconstructions based on fossil sedimentary records. This thesis introduces the topics of past vegetation development in the area of Central Europe affected by a combination of climatic events, natural plant dispersal processes, and human impact. A natural site of the former lake Komořany was investigated to address the early periods covering the Late Glacial and majority of the Holocene (~15.6-3.2 ka BP). Moreover, three distinct medieval village sites covering an altitudinal gradient of the Czech territory served for reconstruction of the increased human impact on landscape and vegetation, especially during the High Medieval Period. A multidisciplinary approach including pollen, plant macrofossil, diatom, and palaeozoological record in combination with archaeological finds was employed to track the origins and formation of the cultural landscape, focusing on the medieval transformation.

Last play of Thomas Bernhard "Heldenplatz" and its picture in contemporary austrian press
Marešová, Petra ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Ježková, Tereza (referee)
My bachalor thesis offers analysis of medial coverage of the indignation caused by publicizing and staging of Thomas Bernhard's play Heldenplatz. Through qualitative content analysis, I compare newspaper articles published before and, also, after the opening night of this play in particular newspapers of temporary Austrian press. With the help of articles published in the Profil, Salzburger Nachrichten and Neue Kronen Zeitung, I present how mass media are able to stir deprecating reactions and how they develop technique of scandalization, how they use stereotypes to influence public opinion, or, how they reflect upon each other. I also take a deep look into several concepts, which gradually became a part of discourse in mass media and society. In the first place, it is a piece of rhetoric "Freiheit der Kunst", meaning "art freedom / freedom in art", next, calling the author "Nestbeschmutzer", at the time a popular label, and calling the director with the humiliating expression of "Piefke" and "Schuft". A number of newspaper articles which were published after staging Heldenplatz was far smaller than a number of articles published prior the opening night. Scandalousness of both Bernhard's drama and its later first performing was still deepened by the Neue Kronen Zeitung tabloid. However, the Profil...
The Main Tendencies in the German Political Drama with an Emphasis on the Contemporary Drama
Marešová, Petra ; Augustová, Zuzana (advisor) ; Cornejo, Renata (referee) ; Urválek, Aleš (referee)
In my thesis, I analyse the current German political drama. However, the term political drama or theatre is difficult to define in general. In my work, I understand the concepts of political drama / theatre in the narrower sense, follow the engaged, appellative, left-wing (anti-capitalist) oriented the- atre of E. Piscator and Brecht, and at the same, in the broader sense, as socio-critical drama / theatre, i.e. relating to the problems of today's "polis" (city, state) and following mainly the tradition of new German and Austrian folk plays. In contemporary German political drama, the two trends outlined in the introduction can be traced. In their works, the first line (left-wing appellative) is followed mainly by playwrights and directors F. Richter and R. Pollesch, the other line (socio-critical) by D. Loher, O. Bukowski, T. Walser, or M. von Mayenburg.
