Occurence and characteristics of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system in physical therapy students during the studies
Perglerová, Anna ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Marková, Magdaléna (referee)
Introduction: Physical therapy is an essential part of medicine worldwide, helping with a wide range of issues across the population. The idea of this study was based on the assumption that physical therapy students themselves benefit from the acquired knowledge to maintain and improve their own health, which is particularly important given the physical demands of the physical therapy field. Objective: The aim of this study is to determine through a longitudinal, observational study, whether functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system occur in physical therapy students studying at the 3rd Faculty of Medicine of Charles University, and if so, how they develop over time during their studies. Methods: The research study involved 16 students (2 males and 14 females, with an average age of 20.28 years.) The measurements took place twice, once at the beginning of the first year of study immediately following enrollment at the university, and once at the end of the second year of study. Data collection was carried out at the Laboratory of Sports at the Faculty of Physical Education and Sport at Charles University under the supervision of department staff. The evaluated parameters included the level of physical activity assessed through a shortened form of the International Physical Activity...
Functional disorders of musculoskeletal system and postural stability od physiotherapy students
Vecanová, Patrícia ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Marková, Magdaléna (referee)
Postural stability is a complex ability provided on many levels of the human body, from the anatomical structures of the foot to control of the central nervous system. Functional changes, muscle imbalances, pain syndromes affecting proprioception can affect posture, overall body perception and can affect postural stability. This bachelor thesis deals with the occurrence of functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system in physiotherapy students with a focus on postural stability disorders. The aim of the study was to describe a sample of 61 (women - 51, men - 10, average age 20,8 years) physiotherapy students in the first year of study in terms of postural stability and to determine whether there is a link between postural stability or impairment and physical activity. The method of static posturography was used to measure postural stability. Probands were instructed to stand on tensometric platform, which was used to measure parameters such as total traveled way of center of pressure (COP), Romberg index, and the difference in total traveled way of COP between the right and left lower extremity in one leg stand. In addition to these data, selected anthropometric parameters were determined by clinical and instrumental measurements. To determine the level of physical activity, the short form of...
Physical Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis- Questionnaire
Marková, Magdaléna ; Řasová, Kamila (advisor) ; Maršáková, Kateřina (referee)
Title: Physical rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis- Questionnaire Objectives: The objective of the project is to map approach to physiotherapy of patients with multiple sclerosis (MS) using a questionnaire in three selected countries in Europe. We assume that the results objectively point out the diversity of approaches to physiotherapy among patients with MS. The data collection will be further used to prepare an international comparative study comparing the effectiveness of various physiotherapeutic approaches. Methods: The questionnaire, used in our study has been created by a team of experts from organizations RIMS, SIG on Mobility (Rehabilitation in Multiple Sclerosis, Special Interest Group) during the last two years. PhDr.Kamila Řasová, PhD., from whose initiative this study came, is a member of this organization. The questionnaire was sent to the coordinator in each country. Then the coordinator completed the questionnaire together with the experts in rehabilitation. Completed copies were sent to the Czech Republic, where they were statistically analysed. Results: We found out that in each country there are differences between knowledge and usage of examination and therapeutic techniques. Furthermore, the perception of the therapeutic content of the three basic models for physiotherapy...
Comparing the ability to cushion heel strikes during walking in barefoot versus common footwear
Zindulková, Lucie ; Marková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Routner, Petr (referee)
In this bachelor study, we are focusing on examination of loading forces during walking in different footwear. We have also added acquired information about the stride cycle. The goal of this study was to contribute to the knowledge of a relatively new type of footwear: the barefoot-shoes. We compared two groups of participants between 20 and 40 years old, all without injury or acute illness, with the difference laying in worn footwear. The control group (further only CG) wore conventional urban footwear, the barefoot group (further only BG) wore barefoot- shoes intensively for at least 4 years. We observed walking with and without footwear on a 3D Treadmill (user software by h/p/cosmos and Arsalis) appended with measurements of basic anthropometric parameters. Statistical analysis was done in programme R and MS Excel. The results did not show significant differences between the two groups in loading peak force value (barefoot walking: p = 0,37, shod walking: p = 0,50) and loading rate value (barefoot walking: p = 0,78, shod walking: p = 0,44). Loading peak force value reading was lower for shod walking only in CG (p = 0,007). The difference was not proven in BG (p = 0,71). Conversely for loading rate value reading differentiated only in BG (p = 0,05). This was not proven in CG (p = 0,53). The...
Categorization of functional disorders of the locomotor system in non-specific pain conditions
Drhlík, Michal ; Marková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Vacek, Jan (referee)
Functional disorders of the musculoskeletal system are a common part of the daily practice of a physiotherapist and a doctor with specialization in physical, balneological and medical rehabilitation. Although this is a widespread phenomenon, it is not at all easy to discover the cause of their occurrence. Current practice lacks a clear key to deciphering the cause of patient problems arising without a structural lesion. This work tried to contribute to finding it by providing an overview of the current ideas of several authors on how to purposefully eliminate these disorders. key words: functional disorders, locomotor system, model, non-specific pain condition, myofascial chain
Correlation of objective and subjective examination of muscle strength
Ouhrabková, Adéla ; Marková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
The aim of this bachelor thesis was to firstly compare and to stand against each other the objective of the muscle strength measurement of measured and recorded aid of modern computer technology and the subjective examination of the muscle strength performed by the Jandov muscle test. The subjective examination was examined twice independently by two experienced physiotherapists from the MFK Center. Another aim of this bachelor thesis was to put individual subjective examinations against each other and to find out their mutual agreement. Both tests were performed on a group of 20 people. Keywords objective examination, subjective examination, muscle strength, MFK metod
Correlation of objective and subjective examination of balance
Fáberová, Zuzana ; Marková, Magdaléna (advisor) ; Zahálka, František (referee)
This thesis deals with the objective and subjective examination of body balance in the patients with Multiple Sclerosis. The outcomes of the examination are in physiotherapy important for choosing an appropriate physiotherapeutic treatment. Therefore we want to know if the results are stable in time. For this purpose the data of 44 adults has been described and analysed. The objective examination in this study was carried out using pedobarography and Berg Balance Scale. The muscle test according to the MFK method was used for the subjective examination. In response to the test results, the adequate therapy was proposed. At the beginning of the study (T1) were the probands examined using the assessment mentioned above. One month later another examination was performed (T2). Neither a therapeutic intervention nor a physiotherapeutic adjustment occurred in between. Upon analysing the results, a weak indirect correlation was found between the data from pedobarography and those of the Berg Balance Scale examination. A correlation between the objective examination represented by pedobarography and the subjective examination using the MFK method was not established. Taking into account the small number of participants as well as absence of work with the control group, the results of this thesis cannot be...
