Blichová, Larisa ; Dolanský, Pavel (advisor) ; Lysoňková, Lenka (referee)
The thesis is making a qualitative analysis of the Nazi propaganda in Národní politika during the period 1939-1941. These first three years of World War II were most important in shaping the cooperation between the media and the occupying power. The thesis is focused on anti-Semitic propaganda and its development during those three years in one of the most highly read daily newspaper in the Protectorate. Through the examples of a few chosen articles and adverts, this propaganda is shown concretely. The texts are analysed to reveal their true meaning, as well as the real authors and readers. By real authors, I mean the Nazis and the occupying power, as most of the articles from the following period are missing a signature. Texts are chosen from different times of year and from different sections of the paper, and each chapter includes a short overview of the historical context. There is a summary of propaganda tools, trend changes in protectorate communications, and changes in showing Jews at the end of the thesis.

Lysoňková, Lenka ; Bednařík, Petr (advisor) ; Krejcar, Robert (referee)
Diploma thesis "Change of the Soviet Union image in the protectorate press based on comparison of the media content from the turn of August/September 1939 and June/July 1941" deals with the manner in which the protectorate newspapers informed about the Ribbentop-Molotov Pact and later about the German invasion of the Soviet Union. The examples of these events and their reflection in the Protectorate press demonstrate how flexibly the protectorate propaganda responded to the current political line. For the purposes of the thesis, there have been selected four newspapers: Polední list, Večerní České Slovo, Lidové noviny and Venkov. These periodicals were examined in two time-bound periods, from 23rd August till 27th September 1939 and from 16th June till 14th July 1941. The methodology used is a historical comparative analysis, which discusses the transformation of Protectorate propaganda attitudes in the dependence on the historical context, and semiotic analysis, which deals with period media discourse and reveals ideology sustained on the level of sign systems.

Vyhnanovský, Ondřej ; Köpplová, Barbara (advisor) ; Lysoňková, Lenka (referee)
During past era, Kladno and its surrounding area was an industrial district. Local development started at the end of the 18th century in connection with the discovery of coal seams. With the establishment of steelworks, massive growth of the entire region began in second half of 19th century. An increase in the population brought the need for an effective means of communication and this in turn resulted in this development of local media. Although local development had started late, Kladno quickly caught up with rest of the country and became really important nationally. During what was called "First Republic," there were many types of media but the most important was the labour-press. It was most evident with the social riots and general strike in 1920. World War II interrupted media publishing and the future situation in Czechoslovakia was not positive. After communist control of the country in 1948, media development stagnated. All officially published titles were leftist. The local media scene also produced some national mass- media that promoted political authorities. Another opportunity for media growth came following the "Velvet Revolution" in November 1989. Small and private publishers launched their own media projects but at the end of 20th century, most of the influential print media were owned by...
