Modlitbová, Klára ; Jiroutová Kynčlová, Tereza (advisor) ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (referee)
The main topic of my thesis is the gender aspect of spirituality based on the background data from Rican's and Janosova's research. Their research of spirituality has been the widest in our republic so far. I am going to use the data from 1498 students of prague gymnasiums and universities who are between 15-24 years of age and who answered thirty statements focused on different types of spirituality. Interpretation of questionnaire results of spirituality is not the only goal of this thesis. General analyzation of religion from the gender point of view is also very important. I split religion into three levels - subjective spirituality, religiozity as manifestation of spiritual need and religion as institucionalization with its hierarchy of priests with the specific influence and impact on the society. My goal is the general view on religion and spirituality in relation to women in the czech social and cultural context of the patriarchal culture.

The diploma thesis A Gender Analysis of Reading-Books for Pupils of 1st and 2nd Years of Primary Schools focuses on the topic of gender in education. Specifically, it examines the ways in which female and male characters are represented in the texts and illustrations in textbooks and considers whether these are stereotypical views of gender and whether these are gender-sensitive views. The research consists of a quantitative content analysis of three reading-books and of qualitative interpretation of their gender correctness and sensitivity. It is set in a framework of theoretical foundations of psychology, sociology, feminist theory and gender studies. The work is based on the premise that the school as an institution plays an important role in gender socialization of children and the thesis therefore aims to find out whether and eventually how these reading- books promote gender equality. Key words: gender, gender stereotypes, gender system, socialization, school, textbooks

Kynčlová, Tereza ; Knotková - Čapková, Blanka (advisor) ; Matonoha, Jan (referee)
The diploma thesis An Analysis of Erben's Bouquet within the Context of Feminist Literary Theories is the first study within Czech literary criticism dedicated to this canonical collection of poetry that has been carried out from a gender perspective. In its analysis of the gender aspects contained in Erben's collection, the thesis mostly draws on methods introduced by Anglo-American feminist literary criticism during the seventh and eighth decades of the 20th century. The thesis then touches upon the potentials of poststructuralist theory for addressing gender analyses of this particular collection of poetry. Fetterley's resistant reading and reader response criticism that investigate the relationship between readers - female readers particularly - and literature, especially within the broad context of both the patriarchal society based on hierarchical gender organization and the specificities of women's lived exeperience, are the major methodological and theoretical points of departure of the thesis. The author of the thesis positions herself in an opposition towards the existing interpretations of Erben's poems that permeate the theoretical works of major literary critics which she sees as based on unreflected reproduction of gender stereotypes. The author seeks to subvert misogynist representations of...
