Baťková, Markéta ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Janáková Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Application of demographic analysis in human resources management: A Case study on elite floorball players Abstract This bachelor's thesis focuses on the possibilities of how to apply demographic analysis in the field of human resources management. Part of the work is also a case study which focuses on elite floorball players. The goal of this thesis is to introduce the concept of human resource management in general and to describe the possibilities of applying demographic analysis to other than just ordinary human populations on a theoretical level. The objectives of the case study include, among other things, demonstrating the different career times between men and women. The case study uses individual data of the 100 historically best male floorball players and 100 historically best female floorball players in the Czech Republic. Among the main methods used in demography and human resource management and also in sports are the construction of life tables and survival analysis. In the case study, statistically significant differences were found in the duration of the careers between men and women and in the average ages at the end of the career and in the average ages of achieving indivually best season. Development of child and maternal mortality in Zambia and Zimbabwe in the context of the Millennium Development Goals
Masná, Eliška ; Hulíková Tesárková, Klára (advisor) ; Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Development of child and maternal mortality in the context of the Millennium Development Goals Abstract The aim of this thesis is to evaluate the development of the level of child and maternal mortality in Zambia and Zimbabwe and compare this development with the Millennium Development Goals. The analysis is performed by calculating infant mortality rate, under-5 mortality rate and maternal mortality ratio from DHS and then these values are compared with results of other organizations, such as the UN. The level of health care, structure of causes of deaths and historical and political situation with emphasis on the state's population are also described. Based on the resulting values we can conclude that none of the analyzed countries does meet the selected targets. The level of child and maternal mortality was improved in Zambia. On the other hand, in Zimbabwe values fluctuate and there was also an increase in the level of child mortality. Keywords: infant mortality, child mortality, maternal mortality, health care, surveys, Millennium Development Goals, MDGs, Zimbabwe, Zambia
Population development at the manor of Škvorec at the turn of 18th and 19th century
Kuprová, Barbora ; Fialová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Maur, Eduard (referee)
Population development at the manor of Škvorec at the turn of 18th and 19th century Abstract The intention of this study is to analyze the development of natural change of population at the manor of Škvorec at the turn of 18th and 19th century (nuptiality and fertility in the years 1780-1819 and mortality in the years 1780-1869) and to characterize the basic demographic indicators. The nominal excerpts from parish registers was made to find numbers of births, marriages and deaths. Family reconstitution method (based on marriges from the years 1780-1819) was used for these data. The development of natural change at the manor is compared with the results of studies developed for the localities of the Czech lands and particularly with the development of the parish Lochenice and at Budyně nad Ohří. The conclusions mostly confirmed the development in the Czech lands. Comparison with results of Budyně nad Ohří confirmed the different population development in urban and rural areas. Keywords: development of natural change, parish registers, family reconstitution, manor of Škvorec.

The population in the Central Bohemian manor of Škvorec from the middle of the 18th to the end of the 19th century. Abstract The aim of this study is to analyze the reproductive behavior (nuptiality, natality, female and male fertility, mortality) and the social structure of selected groups of the population of the Škvorec manor in the 18th and 19th century. The Škvorec manor which is located in the territory of today's Central Bohemia was an important agricultural area in given period. The complete nominal excerpts from parish registers were used to find numbers of all births, marriages and deaths. In addition to traditional historical- demography methods (especially the family reconstitution method and subsequent calculation of demographic indicators from family leaves), advanced statistical methods (survival analysis, Cox regression model) were also used for data analysis. These approaches are new in Czech historical demography and bring many advantages, which are presented in the work. The natural change of population development at the manor is compared with the Czech lands as a whole and in more detail with selected rural and urban localities. The results mostly correspond with the population development which was observed in the Czech lands. The number of inhabitants of the manor in the years...

Fertility development in the USA
Fialová, Lucie ; Kurtinová, Olga (advisor) ; Janáková Kuprová, Barbora (referee)
Fertility development in the USA Abstract The aim of this theses is to analyse the development of a fertility rate in the USA. As a tool for this analysis I am using the following indicators: total fertility rate, age specific fertility rate and mean age at birth. The population of United States of America is very heterogeneous therefore it is important to take the racial and ethnic differentiation into account when analysing fertility. Every racial/ethnic group is unique and has its own demographic behaviour. Because the fertility rate also varies in different states, this work has one part on regional differences in fertility rate. This theses also includes a chapter on demographic theories, such as the first and second demographic transition and the lowest-low fertility. Theories describe and explain changes in reproductive behaviour of the population. Keywords: Age specific fertility rate, total fertility rate, mean age at birth

Attitudes towards unmarried mothers and their children in the Czech lands from a historical perspective
Kuprová, Barbora ; Hamplová, Dana (advisor) ; Šubrt, Jiří (referee)
The intention of this study is to approximate the attitude to children born out of marriage and their mothers in the years 1750-1849. The nominal excerpts from parish registers were used to find numbers of births and proportion of illegitimate children at the manor of Škvorec, the area located at the eastern border of Prague. The proportion of children born out of marriage is compared with contemporaneous regulations that could influence attitudes and behavior of contemporary society. The study also investigates the social status of born children, their fathers and godfathers. The results show that the position of unmarried mothers and their children has improved in the followed period. The results suggest that many unmarried mothers already lived with their partners in the companienate marriage in that time.
