New options for cervical cancer prevention
Adámková, Jana ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor) ; Fanta, Michael (referee)
This paper examines new ways of preventing cervical cancer. It adopts theoretical as well as empirical approach and is accordingly divided into two sections. The theoretical section provides a brief introduction to the anatomy and physiology of the uterus (Chapter 1.1) and then focuses on the disease itself (Chapter 1.2). The first three subchapters consider the disease incidence, the risk factors and the symptoms. The diagnostics are discussed in the fourth subchapter, which also provides a detailed description of Pap smear testing. Available treatments, currently consisting mainly of a surgical intervention, are examined in the subchapter on therapy. Lastly, the paper discusses ways of preventing cervical cancer, such as preventive gynecological exams and newly introduced vaccination against human papillomavirus (HPV); Silgard and Cervavix vaccines are examined in detail. The empirical section evaluates a questionnaire-based survey performed in a private gynecological practice. The aim of the survey was to map the awareness of cervical cancer preventive measures, especially the vaccine option, amongst different age groups of women and establish whether they are having their preventive gynecological tests done.

Kafková, Pavla ; Kohout, Pavel (referee) ; Kulhavá, Miluše (advisor)
This bachelor's dissertation tackles the problem of educational activities which are performed by a nurse taking care of a patient with planned home parenteral nutrition /HPN/. The theoretical part contains the outline of basic concepts and principles that are essential for the appropriate educational work. The substantial part of the dissertation deals with the parenteral nutrition and the tunnel catheter /Broviac's type/ as a vein access of the first choice concerning the majority of patients who depend on HPN. The empirical part concentrates on the creation of the manual for the patients with planned HPN and the documentation of educational process. The aim of the publication is to provide a patient with a comprehensive manual and hereby to try to reduce the percentage of complications /mainly infectious/ which have been caused by insufficient education. Not only patients and their families but also the medical personnel ought to benefit from the manual as there has not been any similar comprehensive manual until now. The absence of such publication might have caused great difficulties during the educational process. The systematic approach together with continuity should be ensured by the newly formed documentation.

Its partial phases, work of midwives and treatment for newborn child. Aromatherapy, homeopathy, acupuncture and acupressure are described as well. There is a note about a birth plan, childbirth at home and outpatient childbirth. Longer, empirical part was carried out by a method of guantitative research. It was supposed to discover what kinds of alternative methods were offered to women and which of them the women used. I was also interested, whether the women had their birth plan, who accompanied them to give birth and whether they were satisfied with the childbirthes. 11 I followed two samples - women in labour from Prague and women in labour from outside-Prague hospitals. In Prague, I guestioned women from Fakultní Thomayerova nemocnice, Fakultní nemocnice Bulovka and Fakultní nemocnice Motol. From outside-Prague hospitals, I chose : Městská nemocnice Neratovice, Nemocnice s poliklinikou Mělník. The other hospital does not want to be mentioned. Women who had Ceasarean section were not guestioned.
