Doležal, Petr ; Kubelková, Karina (advisor) ; Kučerová, Jaroslava (referee)
This study deals with the theory and practice of economic instrument termed minimum wage. This study defines in detail the concept of minimum wage, explains its features, effects and side effects. It also addresses the problem of setting the minimum wage and analyses the negative effects on the labour market caused by this tool as well as the reasons for its introduction. The question of the minimum wage is current mainly due to the forthcoming elections to the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic, while the rate of the minimum wage is a part of the election platform of the strongest political parties. The aim of the study is to evaluate whether the minimum wage is an effective tool in the current economy of the Czech Republic, if it should be implemented, or what should be the optimal level of minimum wage rates in the Czech Republic. Furthermore, the development of minimum wage rates in the separate Czech Republic appears in this work as well as the prediction for the nearest future and comparisons of minimum wage rates within the EU and OECD. Finally, recommendations are set out and the question whether the minimum wage in the Czech Republic is properly configured is answered.

Trojanová, Michaela ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
I have chosen the topic of my bachelor thesis "Comparison of the educational systems in the Czech Republic and Australia" because of the constantly discussed issue of school fees at universities. The focus of my bachelor thesis is on Australia, where the system of the school fees at university education works, and the Czech Republic, where the possibility of the school fees is being only discussed. The aim of my bachelor thesis is to compare these two educational systems, especially their tertiary educational stages. The thesis deals with the advantages and disadvantages of these systems and their pros and cons on the basis of the SWOT analysis. The theoretical part of my thesis offers the characteristics of the educational systems both in the Czech Republic and Australia. The thesis analyses in detail the tertiary education in both countries and it also outlines the reform of the tertiary education in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals with the question why there should be the reform of tertiary education in the Czech Republic. The analytical part of the thesis compares both educational systems by means of parametres such as institutional frames, funding of educational systems, structure of educational systems, and the assertion of university graduates at the job market. One chapter focuses on the school fees in Australia and there are inspiring suggestions for potentional implementation of the school fees at Czech state colleges and universities. The end of the thesis asks the question whether it is possible to apply at least partially positive aspects of the tertiary education of Australie to the Czech Republic.

The influence on active labour-market policy and its financing after European Union accession
Rejžková, Veronika ; Vostrovská, Zdenka (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
The thesis conducts an analysis of active labour-market policy and its support in the framework of the European Social Fund. The first section is specialized in labour policy and described documents of European Union in this framework. The second section of the paper focuses on active labour-market policy -- its development, implementation, tool kit as well as its reaction to European Union requirements and a subsequent efficiency evaluation of a number of programmes aimed to support the active labour-market policy. The next section assesses the achievability of quantitative targets of the Lisbon strategy which the Czech Republic should meet by 2010, i.e. whether we are on track to meet these targets. We aim to determine the achievability of targets using an analysis of employment. The following important section looks at labour policy expenditures in the Czech Republic, their change over time and particularly after the European Union accession in 2004, since when the Czech Republic has been able to draw financial support from the European Social Fund. The last section therefore deals with the European Social Fund, in particular with the implementation of projects, assessment of their impact on employment growth and recommendations for improvements in the efficiency of their execution.

Štancová, Dana ; Durdisová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
This master thesis deals with the question of medical treatment financing focusing mainly on analysis of health insurance companies reimbursement rates and their comparison with costs of aftercare beds. Secondary goal of the thesis is comparison of acute care beds costs and aftercare beds costs. The opening chapter discusses relationships between economics and health service and describes structure of health care funding compared to insurace companies financing strategies. Payment mechanism mostly used in the aftercare field is the pay-per-day system, this mechanism is therefore later explained in detail including particular effects on after care beds financing. The second part of the thesis compares insurance reimbursement rates with real costs of one particular facility. The analysis proves that health insurance companies reimbursement rates are wrongly set and reimbursement legislation is being violated.
Social protection of poverty-stricken in Czech republic
Strnadová, Barbora ; Kotýnková, Magdalena (advisor) ; Kubelková, Karina (referee)
Poverty is one of the most oppressive topics all over the world. It is being fought both in developed and developing countries. As for the Czech Republic, poverty is associated with unemployment, especially with the long-term unemployment. On 1st January 2007, two new acts have come into effect; Act no. 110/2006 about minimum and living wage and Act no. 111/2006 about help in substantial shortage. These acts newly regulate the conditions of social benefits and its income with the objective of lowering the long-term unemployment. They incorporate elements that would sanction those who are unemployed and passive in search of a new job, and on the other hand should give advantage to those seeking actively. The purpose of my work is to examine the impacts and consequences of these two acts, and whether these has been any change in the long-term unemployment rate, positive change in its absolute values or positive change in its structure.
A Critical Analysis of the Long Term Unemployment
