Svoboda, David ; Weiss, Tomáš (advisor) ; Králová, Kateřina (referee)
The bachelor's work Building the hotspots in order to strengthen the common border security after the Arab Spring is dedicated to analysis of how hotspots in Italy and Greece have helped to the reduction of migration crisis in the EU. The migration crisis were resulted in Europe after the Arab Spring. This analysis works with data like the number of migrants in Greece and Italy, asylum applications, with an emphasis on 2015-2017. This bachelor's work works on verifying of these three hypotheses: The hotspots will increase the identification of newly arrived migrants soon, will reduce the number of illegal migrants traveling from the hotspot site deeper to the EU, and that hotspots can speed up the decision-making process with migrants. This work has four chapters. The first chapter explains the basic terms of this work - migrant and refugee. It also explains why the migrant must not be expelled from the EU. The second chapter is dedicated to the characteristics of the migration crisis (2013-2016) and the main pillars of the EU asylum and migration policy. The third and fourth chapter describe the hotspots. The first one describes the origins of hotspots (from the initial idea to financing), building of them, it also describes the EU support teams and possibilities that migrants has if they receive...
The Position of Bosnian Women within a Chosen Local Community in Sweden
Navrátilová, Martina ; Žíla, Ondřej (advisor) ; Králová, Kateřina (referee)
This thesis focuses on female immigrants from Bosnia and Herzegovina who have resided in Sweden since the 1990s. The aim of the thesis is to analyze their integration in Sweden and the influence of transnational practices on their integration. The analysis is based on semi- structured interviews with eight Bosnian women. The results of the interviews are confronted with scholarly literature and newspaper articles on Bosnian integration in Sweden and transnationalism. The areas of focus are: labor market, the knowledge of Swedish language, transnational practices, the specificities of being a female immigrant and finally the evaluation of why Bosnians are integrated so well in Sweden. The quality of integration was proven very high and the immigrants themselves, as well as the literature, attribute it to the European origin of Bosnians, especially in terms of cultural and educational closeness. The transnational practices were not proven to be an obstacle to integration, they do however create a new "Bosnian-Swedish" identity for younger women. Female immigrants seem to be keener on building a good perception of the Bosnian diaspora and its culture, which they present in several ways in Bosnian organizations. Bosnian women are also influenced by motherhood and they try to raise their children so...
Eating Habits of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus Persons
KRÁLOVÁ, Kateřina
The topic of eating habits of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus is timely and has recently been given increasing attention. Diabetes is considered one of the diseases of modern civilization. Given the topicality of the subject and the ubiquitous character of the disease, this bachelor thesis aims to assess the level of knowledge on diabetic diet among its patients as well as the level of their adherence to its principles. The bachelor thesis consists of a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part, we take a closer look at the disease itself, its causes, symptoms and management with an emphasis on diabetic diet as an essential part of patient treatment. The end of the theoretical part part focuses on the topic of educating diabetic patients as it is essential that the individuals suffering from this disease are well aware of the potential risks arising from the failure to follow routine measures in its treatment. The main focus of my thesis can be found in the practical part that evaluates eating habits observed in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus as well as their perception of diabetic diet as a basic therapeutic agent in the treatment of their disease. This part is conducted by means of a qualitative research where semi-structured interviews were used as a method of collecting data. These interviews are arranged and presented in easy to follow tables and their results are further elaborated on in the discussion and conclusion. It is my hope that this publication will encourage and improve awareness of healthy eating habits in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.

The Reconstructions of Skopje and the Formation of Macedonian National Identity
Nedbalová, Andrea ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Žíla, Ondřej (referee)
The capital city of the Republic of Macedonia, Skopje, has undergone two important architectural changes during the last half a century. Both of these, the renewal of the city after the devastating earthquake of 1963 and the extensive architectural project "Skopje 2014" launched in 2010, included content which focused on the formation of Macedonian national identity. The diploma thesis The Reconstructions of Skopje and the Formation of Macedonian National Identity analyses how architecture and urbanism was used to form Macedonian national identity. As these two events had very different initial conditions, the nature of these reconstructions, together with the promoted visions of national identity and their presentation, differed considerably. The rebuilding of Skopje after the earthquake presented Macedonian national identity to a greater extent through a strong ideological content based solely on visions of the future. In comparison, the project "Skopje 2014" presented an interpretation of national identity through specific symbols. This construction was based on the interpretation of historical events, resulting in a new understanding of the historical continuity of the Macedonian nation. The fact that two vastly different visions of Macedonian national identity, presented through the recreation...
Historical Narrative and Identity Building: Museums in Bosnia and Herzegovina
Knappová, Barbora ; Králová, Kateřina (advisor) ; Šístek, František (referee)
The thesis analyses historical narratives presented in exhibitions of the History Museum of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Sarajevo and the Museum of Republika Srpska in Banja Luka. It also clarifies who promotes that particular representation of history and which factors influence the decisions museums make. The thesis builds on theoretical literature related to a role of museums in a process of memory institutionalization and identity building as well as to their potential to bring reconciliation in post-conflict society. The subjects of the research are the main museums dealing with the recent history in the two Bosnian autonomous entities, with the History Museum being in predominantly Bosniak while the Museum of Republika Srpska in predominantly Serb environment. The thesis explores the development of the museums, their organization, financing, self-presentation and most importantly the narratives of their permanent and temporary exhibitions. These are analysed especially from the perspective of definition of own group versus the others. The analysis covers museums' activities in the period from 1995 to present days. The thesis argues in detail that historical narrative promoted by the History Museum in Sarajevo reproduces the Bosniak narrative despite its efforts to play a role of state-level...
The First Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus and Its Effect on the Escalation of the Greco-Turkish Ethnic Conflict
Kincl, Martin ; Tejchman, Miroslav (advisor) ; Králová, Kateřina (referee)
The First Constitution of the Republic of Cyprus and its Effect on the Greco-Turkish Ethnic Conflict Abstract The main purpose of this paper is to assess the impact of the first Cypriot constitution of 1960 on the following inter-ethnic violence, which broke out in 1963. Explanation of all the relevant political crises of the early Cypriot Republic right until the meltdown of the constitutional system, provides for a wider context in which a line can be drawn between the provisions stated by the constitution and the resulting local Greco-Turkish ethnic conflict. The first half of this thesis comprises a rather theoretical view of the constitution, whose certain articles are cited whenever needed. It also includes some information about the historical and political background, summing up the causes behind the proclamation of independence itself, as well as the final shape of many controversial provisions offered by the constitution. The second half sheds some light on the complex political crises caused in part by the reluctance of both national communities to co-operate when governing the state, in part by the very system outlined by the constitution. A few of the last sub- chapters deal with the aforementioned ethnic conflict of 1963 onwards, provoked by a then president Makarios' attempt to amend the...
