Mechanical Analysis of the Influence of Fabrication Tolerances on Contact Conditions between the Acetabular Cup and the Femoral Head in Total Hip Replacement
Koukal, Milan ; Horyl, Petr (referee) ; Repko, Martin (referee) ; Janíček, Přemysl (referee) ; Florian, Zdeněk (advisor)
In endoprosthesis surgery there are typically a high percentage of implant defects, these can lead to failure of the whole prosthesis. One type of total hip replacement function loss is acetabular cup loosening from the pelvic bone. This disertation examines manufacture perturbations as one of the possible reasons for this kind of failure. Both dimension and geometry manufacturing perturbations of ceramic head and polyethylen cup were analyzed. We find that perturbations in the variables analysed here affect considered values of contact pressure and frictional moment. Furthermore, contact pressure and frictional moment are quantities affecting replacement success and durability. From obtained results it can be recommended to fit head and cup with a clearance of between 0 mm and 0.05 mm. It can not be recommend using interference type of fit because of strong deterioration of the contact conditions. Roundness perturbation of ceramic head should not exceed 0.025 mm.

COMMON EU VISA POLICY AND THE RIGHT OF APPEAL AGAINST A VISA REFUSAL
Koukal, Michal ; Scheu, Harald Christian (advisor) ; Pítrová, Lenka (referee) ; Pořízek, Pavel (referee)
This thesis deals with a description and analysis of the EU law and policy on Schengen visas. The EU visa policy is analysed in its historical development and its place in the framework of Schengen acquis. Separately, important visa policy measures are analysed including the typology of visas, exceptions from visa obligation, visa reciprocity, visa facilitation and processes of visa liberalisation. Different phases of the visa procedure are studied with focus on the questions whether there is a right to be issued a Schengen visa when the conditions are met and the right of appeal. The relevant legislation subject to analysis is above all the Visa Code, the regulation on visa lists and the relevant jurisprudence of the Court of Justice. By way of illustration, the implementation in the Czech legal order is used and jurisprudence of the Czech higher courts is quoted to show to what extent the EU visa procedure and visa refusal matches the requirements of the administrative law theory on the administrative procedure and decision in general. The relevant rules are assessed as to the extent they match with principles of legitimacy, influence of legal certainty, effectiveness and proportionality. The core of the work is a hypothesis that current EU visa rules do not establish a right to a visa when the...

Assessment of Changes of the Modal Split in Connection with the Construction of High Speed Railway Prague-Brno
Koukal, Martin ; Květoň, Viktor (advisor) ; Kvizda, Martin (referee)
The aim of this diploma thesis is to discuss the assessment of changes of the modal split in connection with the construction of high speed railway Prague-Brno. Thesis is aimed on wider context of two theoretical concepts in transportation researches: travel behaviour and the value of travel time. Data collection took place in the form of "Paper and Pencil Interview" method. For a deeper analysis was used the Pivot Table tools. From the collected data was found that economically active people from coaches and trains have higher travel time than students. Among cars users the most important factor influencing the choice of traffic mode is the speed, for coach users it is price and for train users the posibility of work/rest during the journey. Assuming a reduction of travel time between Prague and Brno for about 1 hour while keeping the fare price about CZK 200, high-speed rail connections has the potential to generate more frequent journeys among existing passengers. Keywords: modal split, travel behaviour, the value of travel time savings, competitiveness of railways, high speed railway
