Distribution and estimation of abundance of hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) in the Jeseníky Mts. and Rychlebské hory Mts
Koubek, Petr ; Novotný, L. ; Červený, Jaroslav
Hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) is the most abundant living galliform bird in the Jeseníky Mts. Since 1984, changes of its abundance, data on biotop preference, amount of chickens and food composition have been followed. The study area is composed of the eastern slopes of Pradid Mt. up to Vrbno pod Pradidem (about 3000 ha). Data about its distribution and abundance in the entire area of Hrubý and Nízký Jeseník Mts. and also Rychlebské hory Mts. (districts Šumperk, Bruntál, Jeseník) were gathered by questionaires in individual hunting grounds where the occurrence of hazel grouse is regular but also in hunting grounds where the occurrence may be assumed.

Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L. ; Hlavatá, A. ; Koubek, Petr
Releasing of artificially reared capercaillies to nature is one of the possibilities of saving or increasing free-living populations. However, it is usually considered to be a last chance for saving a disappearing species, sometimes even without looking at the state of the biotop.
Tetraonid birds in the Jeseníky Mts: chances for survival
Koubek, Petr ; Banaš, M.
The massif of the Hrubý Jeseník Mts. was known for occurrence and even hunting of capercaillie (Tetrao urogallus) as well as black grouse (Tetrao tetrix) in the 50s and 60s of the 20th century. However, even in this area, we have noticed a marked decre of abundance of both species. This is why we have been gathering all information about the occurrence of tetraonid birds at the Landscape Protected Area Jeseníky Mts. since 1987.
Current knowledge on distribution, population dynamics and feeding ecology of some mustelids in the Czech Republic
Koubek, Petr ; Červený, Jaroslav ; Bufka, L.
Although mustelids comprise the most abundant group of predators in the Czech Republic, they are one of the least studied groups of our mammals. Since there is an absence of data necessary for their protection or the level of management, data about for ecology and abundance of oine marten (Martes martes), stone marten (M. foina), western polecat (Mustela putorius), steppe polecat (M. eversmannii), weasel (M. nivalis) and stoat (M. erminea) were synthesized.
