Comparison of Distribtued File System Features
Tomec, Martin ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Szőke, Igor (advisor)
This work deals with comparsion of distributed filesystems Ceph, Lustre and Kosmos FS. General properties of these systems are summarized here, including method of their installing, configuring and launching. Testing tools and test sets are described in the next part. Performance and abilities of these systems were tested on a network of nine computers. Last part contains analyses and evaluation of results, figuring out bottleneck of these systems. Lustre seems to be the best of these systems.
RdRand: IA-64 and IA-32 Instruction for Random Number Generation
Game Server Administration Client
Cigán, Tomáš ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the description of game servers of the most common computer games. The details and differences between particular game servers as well as administration control are included. Also structure of plugins and plugin installation procedures for such servers is described in details. The main target of the thesis according to the previous research is to analyze and develop uniform system for controlling the game server and its plugins throw web application. At the end of the thesis there is detailed description of creating a new game server implementation support.
Methods of Authentication to WiFi Network
Valašek, Filip ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Lampa, Petr (advisor)
This diploma thesis deals with authentication using RADIUS protocol and authentication methods in accordance with standard IEEE 802.1X. At the beginning there are shortly characteristics of chosen authentication methods, such as CHAP, PAP and some EAP types. Document includes summary of RADIUS protocols implementations, especially the FreeRADIUS server. Our goal is to implement a management tool to adminitrate FreeRADIUS server.
Traveling Salesman Problem: Parallel Methods Using SMP (Threads)
Weigner, Martin ; Jaroš, Jiří (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis is focused on solving the problem of traveling salesman. At first, the problem is solved by serial access at four algorithms. There are two of them chosen and transferred to parallel access. In the end there are summarized observations about different parameters of both access. This thesis also introduces questions of programming parallel applications with threads to the reader.
Meteo-Station Design and Realization
Schiebl, Jakub ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
Design and building meteo station. Measuring temperature, humidity and pressure. Data viewing on LAN Web server.
Comparison of Parallel File Systems
Pazdera, Michal ; Michal, Bohumil (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
The goal of this thesis was to explore several parallel file systems, and to evaluate their performance under various conditions. The main focus of this assessment were read and write speeds in different workloads, the reliability of each system, and also their ability to protect from data loss. Initially, this thesis introduces eight of the most commonly used parallel file systems. From these, three were selected for further testing: Lustre, GlusterFS, and CephFS. To be able to evaluate their performance accurately, a suite of automated tests was developed. These benchmarks were run for each individual file system in our testing lab. The final part of this work evaluates the results and discusses the features of each of the file systems and their suitability for particular workloads.
Porting of RedirFS on Other OS
Zelený, Miroslav ; Čejka, Rudolf (referee) ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (advisor)
This thesis describes process of RedirFS portation to FreeBSD operating system. Source operating system is Linux. Those two operating systems are described from VFS view to determine differences and needed modifications. Then follows implementation of port.
Instant Messenging System
Fiedor, Jan ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Ráb, Jaroslav (advisor)
Nowadays many instant messenging clients exist. However, it is true, that many of them do not solve the security issues connected with communication, often deal with file transfer problems and are linked with specific protocol. This thesis is trying to find out the best solution of those problems and use it to develop secure and reliable client independent of concrete protocol.
Linux Emulation Layer in FreeBSD
Divácký, Roman ; Kašpárek, Tomáš (referee) ; Čejka, Rudolf (advisor)
This masters thesis deals with updating the Linux emulation layer (so called Linuxulator). The task was to update the layer to match the functionality of Linux 2.6. As a reference implementation, the Linux 2.6.16 kernel was chosen. The concept is loosely based on the NetBSD implementation. Most of the work was done in the summer of 2006 as a part of the Google Summer of Code students program. The focus was on bringing the NPTL (new posix thread library) support into the emulation layer, including TLS (thread local storage), futexes (fast user space mutexes), PID mangling, and some other minor things. Many small problems were identified and fixed in the process. My work was integrated into the main FreeBSD source repository and will be shipped in the upcoming 7.0R release. We, the emulation development team, are working toward making the Linux 2.6 emulation the default emulation layer in FreeBSD.
