Development of access of women as news sources into the news of the Czech Television
Janeček, Petr ; Trampota, Tomáš (advisor) ; Vochocová, Lenka (referee)
The thesis "Development of acess of women as news sources into the news of the Czech Television" deals with access of women into the news programme Udalosti in 1993, 2001 and 2009 in the context of sociology of sources. In the literature, we can find evidence that men dominate television news because they represent one fifth of all news sources and moreover women are more often presented in connection with less important issues and in passive roles. TV news therefore supports stereotypical reception of women in society. It is valid not only for the Czech mass media but also for the whole world. The aim of the thesis was to capture development of access of women during the years. We assumed that frequency of female sources would be higher in 2009 than 1993 and 2001 because we can also see more women in politics and business. We also observed average length of the talks to understand how much space both women and men get in news coverage. The thesis tried to find out contexts in which women and men appeared (e.g. politics, economy, business, entertainment, family etc.) and roles that they held. Furthermore, we focused on position within news coverage and tried to capture whether female sources get a prominent position which indicates capacity and power.

Particular types of divination practices are sorted by goals achieved by divination, not chronologically. Framework of this work is made by general interpretation of the divination itself as cultural practice with introduction to the context of Christian Christmas celebration and also to the problematics of koexistence of Slavic pre-Christian culture with Christian culture in early Middle Ages. Main data use in my work are ethnographic data drawn from books of Č. Zíbrt, J. I. Hanuš and other Czech ethnographers. Theoretical parts are based on works of scholars of religion, folklorists and anthropologists such as M. Eliade, K. J. Erben or K. Richter. KEY WORDS: divination, future, Advent, Christmas, New year, new year, pre-Christian culture, Christian culture, Czech lands
Prague folk-tales in the second half of 19th century
Janeček, Petr ; Sochorová, Ludmila (advisor) ; Sochorová, Ludmila (referee)
Presented study analyzes local oral tradition in the second half of the 19th century with particular interest in Prague local legends, their character, genesis and function. The ca se study of Prague local legends, collected by Czech writer Popelka Biliánová, has two main goals: to analyse and classify these oral texts, and to connect their interpretation by their collector to Czech national movement, ethnic stereotypes and archeological, historical and mythological studies of the period. Prague local legends collected by Popelka Biliánová represent, unlike other prague local legends, which were heavily influenced by medieval chronicles or literary tradition, in its larger part authentic oral texts. None of the collectors of Prague local legends before and after Biliánová's period, with possible exception of Biliánová' s precessedor, historian Josef Svátek, was able to collect such authentic local folklore tradition. Biliánová' s Prague legends could be classified as a folklore genre of superstitious legends and have relatively recent origin: some derive from Catholic pious legends connected to local churches and holy places (the oldest of them stemming from the 17th and 18th century), some are quite recent individual memorates. Although Biliánová' s Prague legends were collected mainly for support of Czech...
