Opltová, Kateřina ; Prošková, Eva (advisor) ; Hošťálková, Monika (referee)
Reception of a large number of the injured to a medical facility as a result of a mass disaster or a catastrophe puts high demands on health care. Such situations can not be dealt with the mere improvisation; it is necessary to create unified organizational procedures defining the composition of medical teams and their activities during the multiple reception of the injured to a medical facility. The theoretical part of this thesis provides a comprehensive overview of the current state of emergency preparedness in healthcare facilities. In the empirical part, I analyzed the readiness of health facilities for a mass disaster in the capital city of Prague. A structured interview with open questions was chosen as a method of data collection. Based on the survey, I concluded that the readiness of health facilities in the capital city of Prague differs. I recommend setting up a phone line while receiving patients as a result of a mass disaster in order to improve the situation in Prague. The sole purpose of such a line would be reporting emergencies. I also recommend health care facilities participate actively in exercises within the integrated rescue system and clearly identify and determine facilities where the reception of the injured takes place if a mass disaster occurs. Keywords: mass disaster,...

Nursing Care of Seniors in Intensive Care Unit-ICU and Anaesthesiology and Resuscitation Unit-ARU
Svitáková, Jana ; Hošťálková, Monika (advisor) ; Mrákava, Vlastimil (referee)
General nurses in their proffesion provide nursing care to patients of different age groups. Quite frequently represented group are seniors. This fact is due to the increase in life expectancy, medical advances and polymorbidity of seniors, which is often the cause of their hospitalization. Nursing care for seniors is particularly challenging due to the occurence of many geriatric symptoms, restriction of cognitive functions and inabillity to self care. Much more difficult situation occurs, if the state of geriatric patient requires care in ARO (Department of Anesthesiology and Resuscitation) or ICU (Intensive Care Unit). Identification of problem areas in intensive nursing care for seniors leads to infer the possible measures for practice. In terms of this thesis quantitative research was carried out using a questionnaire survey. Research group consisted of general nurses from departments of intensive care, thus professional intesive care units (ICU) and department of anesthesiology and resuscitation. Out of the total number of 120 distributed questionnaires (100 %) returned 94 usable questionnaires (78,33 %). Realization of research survey was conducted in February 2012. The thesis consists of two parts, the practical and theoretical. The main objective was to map the problem of providing nursing...
