Project Based Learning of Vertebrate Zoology at Lower Secondary Schools
Becková, Veronika ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
This work deals with project teaching of vertebrate zoology at the 2nd level of primary schools. First, it outlines the reasons for students' lack of interest in science subjects and tries to find a way to make teaching science more attractive to students through research-oriented methods and project-based teaching. Project-based teaching and enquiry based science education are methods that activate pupils and increase their motivation to engage in science subjects. For effective science teaching, it is essential to use teaching methods that are based on self-observation and experimentation, search and processing of acquired information, and students are actively involved in the process of learning about various facts and laws. These teaching methods have their roots in empiricism, sensualism and rationalism. The role of the teacher is also changing, who becomes a kind of guide in the teaching process and lets the students work independently on the chosen topic. In addition to setting out and explaining basic concepts such as inquiry-based instruction, this work also presents instructions for elaborating a separate research lesson from hypothesis formulation, planning and execution of the experiment to data evaluation and drawing conclusions. It gives concrete examples from practice that take into...
Application of the Activating Teaching Methods in Biology at Lower Secondary Schools
Bugová, Tereza ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
This thesis deals with activation teaching methods used during biology classes at lower secondary school. The thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The first part deals with curricular documents and its relationships to activation methods, to a goal of elementary education and to a goal of activation teaching and above all to a characteristics of individual activation methods. The second part describes a selected topic of food chains. At the beginning, there is an enumeration of selected food chains from eight different environments. Furthermore, a suggestion for a teaching method, which complements the list of food chains, is presented here, as well as drawings of images, which have been created specifically for the purpose of the thesis. As a component of the second part of the thesis, there is an evaluation of a form, which has been presented to children electronically, since the suggested teaching method has not been practicable as a consequence of closed schools in the second half of the school year due to the coronavirus epidemic. The goal of this thesis is to prepare and to test a selected teaching class on the topic of a food chain and drawings of images, which might serve as a teaching material for current as well as future teachers. The Use of Hluchov Floodplain Forest and Houšťka Park Forest in Tuition of Natural History and Biology
Procházková, Petra ; Skýbová, Jana (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
The diploma thesis deals with the use of the localities Houšťka Forest Park and Hluchov Floodplain Forest in the teaching of natural history at the 2nd level of primary schools, biology at the lower levels of grammar schools and at vocational secondary schools. Part of the theoretical part is a description of natural conditions and history of the site, the division into habitats and their characteristics. Furthermore, an inventory and description of plant species, including a list of zoological taxa, was performed for the needs of teachers. The questionnaire survey among teachers was focused on the use of localities during regular lessons, or compulsory optional subjects focused on natural history. The time required for the worksheets was based on the results of this survey. The didactic part includes the issue of interdisciplinary relationships, enumeration and description of forms and methods used in the teaching of science and biology. The main part of this part of the thesis are worksheets, which are in addition to consolidating knowledge of natural sciences and biology focused on the application of knowledge from other subjects such as mathematics, physics. After completing the worksheet, the individual exercises were corrected. In the qualitative research, on the basis of a questionnaire...
Use of Historical Hunting Statistics for Collecting Zoological Data
Krupková, Kateřina ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
This works investigates zoological findings, especially the species and quantity of game, preserved in gamekeeper statistics of the second half of the 19th century. The information is sorted by the year of the shooting and by the kind of animal; and further by the location of the shooting. The relevant locations here are the three great regions: Kingdom of Bohemia, Moravia, and Duchy of Silesia; which, with minor territorial changes, constitute present Czech Republic. The data used in this work were gathered from the corresponding regions' archives, that is from the National Archives of Czech Republic, the Moravian regional archive in Brno and the Regional archive in Opava. One of the introductory chapters depicts the territorial development of these regions. The acquired data are organized into tables and graphs. The focus of the theoretical portion of this work is to systematize and clarify the data about game-shooting during a specific time in our history for selected game species. The aim of the practical portion is to highlight unexpected and surprising connections between zoology, gamekeeping and history.
Scientific and Educational Illustration in Zoology
Severin, Svatopluk ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Bachelor thesis is focusing on scientific illustration in zoology, its form and progression in history. It characterizes concept of scientific illustration, individual types and techniques used for its creation in drawing and printing. It also deals with important aspects in the creation of zoological drawing. The work focuses on historical development of depiction of animals from primary art to photographically accurate zoological drawing in the 20th century, while in each period are defined several examples of depictions. The second part of the bachelor's thesis describes and evaluates 9 historical depictions of animals from different periods and then compares them with own creation of specific animals.
Černokostelecko as a Didactic Space
Drazdík, Filip ; Andreska, Jan (advisor) ; Hanel, Lubomír (referee)
Černokostelecko as a didactic space Filip Drazdík Department of biology and environmental studies Ing. Jan Andreska, Ph.D. Abstract This bachelor thesis deals with how to use the geographical area of Černokostelecko for didactic purposes and above all what are the most interesting biological localities, in what time of year it is best to visit them and what we can demonstrate to them. One of the main advantages of the whole area is that it lies in close proximity to the capital city of the Czech Republic and therefore it is very easily accessible. As a further advantage, I would like to mention that there are no mountains or valleys of some wild rivers in the whole locality, and it is also quite densely populated, so there is no dangerous wilderness, so educators do not have to worry abou any extreme danger. All the excursiones mentioned in this work I have attended with the pupil of the first level of elementary school and they did it all perfectly. Educators really have nothing to worry about. Despite the fact that it is quite densely populated, it is also an area with a lot of naturally interesting places, which is definitely worth a visit. Many of the local natural (zoological, botanical and geological) point of interest are unprecedented anywhere else in the Czech Republic. This topic is elaborated in...
Changes in the Landscape of the North Bohemian Mines as an Example of a Cross-cutting Theme in Natural History Teaching
Johanová, Milena ; Hanel, Lubomír (advisor) ; Andreska, Jan (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with coal mining in northern Bohemia in the Chomutov region, reclamation and the influence of these activities on the occurrence of animal and plant species in the landscape. The occurrence and exemplary species of organisms in a landscape that has already been reclaimed after mining are presented. The occurrence of some species was a very interesting finding and the work explains why even a devastated landscape provides some species with satisfactory living conditions. The work illustrates how the ongoing changes in nature have an impact on plants and animals and whether the subsequent reclamation of the landscape can contribute to the return of native species. The thesis also points out the possibility of using the topic of brown coal mining and subsequent recultivation in teaching various subjects in schools. The knowledge of the bachelor thesis can acquaint students with the mining area, the ongoing reclamation and their importance. Keywords devasted landscape, mining activity, plants, animals, protected species, reclamation
