Discussion of socio-geographic aspects of renewable energy sources in Czechia Abstract Modern society is completely dependent on electricity supplies in every aspect of life and the economy. The task of every developed country is protection and ensuring sufficient energy in the required quality. Otherwise, the lack or interruption of supply may paralyze the country's life and economy. The current energy problem lies on the fact that it is based on non-renewable energy sources with limited quantity. In addition, they have a negative impact on the environment. Renewable energy sources also provide limited solutions to the situation. This bachelor's thesis therefore analyses the assumptions, possibilities and potential of the development of renewable sources in Czech electricity, in relation to the energy position, environment, electricity, society and economy. The aim of the thesis is critical evaluation of the pros and cons of the implementation of alternative energy sources in the energy mix. Spatial distribution of financial grants for municipalities in the region of Nuclear power plant Dukovany in focus of regional development

Spatial distribution of financial grants for municipalities in region of nuclear plant Dukovany in focus for regional development Abstract The aim of this paper is to determine spatial distribution of financial grants for municipalities in region of nuclear plant Dukovany in view of regional development by an analysis of income part of municipalities budget and data of financial gifts by Nadace ČEZ and data provided by representatives of the nearest municipalities of nuclear plant. The first part brings methodical framework of importance of financial incomes of the municipalities for regional development. The second part introduces socioeconomic conditions of surroundings of the nuclear plant Dukovany and also types of financial support of ČEZ company. Paper continues to analysis of incomes of municipalities and the first part of the hypothesis is verified. The second part of hypothesis and research questions is checked and answered in the fourth part, where financial gifts acquired by the nearest municipalites of the nucelar plant Dukovany are presented. Global production networks of transnational apparel corporations

This bachelor thesis deals with multinationals corporations in the clothing industry with branch offices in the Czechia, in the context of the theory of global production network. It is a relatively new theory, which deals with geographically dispersed but functionally integrated unit of production network. NNS production network has expanded in many countries of the world and their networks differ in the number of supplier countries and the geographical distribution of production. The main objective is to highlight the connection between parent companies and their countries and supply countries as well as to the context of the price and composition of clothing. Production NNS is largely oriented to countries with cheap labour and it corresponds with the main supplying countries, namely China and Bangladesh. Composition and price of clothing are often very different, and rather than a direct connection there were only partial relations. Transformations of work localization in the Prague metropolitan region

This bachelor thesis deals with transformations of work localization in the Prague metropolitan region in the period from 1991 to 2011. The aim of presented study is to analyze the transformation of work localization in context with duality of core and periphery and to determine whether the work localization is affected by highway localization in hinterland and underground localization in core of metropolitan region. For the purpose of analysis I used data on work commuting from 1991, 2001 and 2011 censuses. The first part is devoted to the theoretical bases of work localization and to description of different conditions and processes that influenced work localization before and after year 1989. This section significantly focuses on description and explanation of the process of commercial suburbanization, which causes changes in work localization in the Prague metropolitan region after 1989. The empirical part is divided into two sections. In the first section data for municipalities are analyzed and is devoted to duality of core and periphery and to transformations of work localization in hinterland of the Prague metropolitan region in context with localization of highways. Global production networks in the case study of stationery producer KOH-I-NOOR Hardtmuth

The dynamic change of pace and depth in international economic integration is making its impact on the global system more significant than ever before. After political changes in Czechia we have witnessed the growth of foreign economic activity by firms, which are now allowed to be part of liberalized global economical environment. The subject of interest chosen is the traditional Czech pencil manufacturer KOH-I-NOOR Hardtmuth. Which is one of the leading stationery producers who competes with its rivals on a global pitch. This company has a long history and trademark in manufacturing stationery goods. In 2000 after the takeover from PPF in 2000 longterm CEO and now owner Vlastislav Bříza, decided to create a holding that would follow the success in the stationery goods industry. This would functionally connect the various industries. Theoretical background is provided by global production networks, recently developed by geographers in Great Britain. From a geographical perspective, pencil manufacturing has its sources traditionally dispersed. The role of the state in regional development: application of contemporary regional development theories in the case of selected support programs

The state plays a prominent role in the process of regional development. State interventions might bring radical influences into the entire socioeconomic system, to which the other actors of regional development have to adapt. Importantly, the state administrates a large amount of funds, creates large numbers of jobs, and it is led by "elites" which might influence the other people's opinions. The need for studying of the role of the state and the expenditure side of its budget for an understanding of the mechanisms of regional development is recognized by many authors. However, deep discussions of the function of the state could be hardly found in regional development theories. The aim of this dissertation thesis is to contribute to understanding of the role of the state as one of major actors in regional development via investigation of the regional impacts of public support programs. To provide concrete scrutiny, parliamentary grants (so-called "pork barrel") were depicted through which deputies annually sent large sums of money from the state budget during its approval process in the Chamber of Deputies on projects with local impact. Pork barrel in Czechia in 2003-2009: spatial dimension and the identification of some causal factors

The aim of this diploma thesis is an attempt to reveal a regularity and dependence in spatial distribution of the pork barrel (i.e. the parliamentary grants) in the case of Czechia in 2003-2009. Moreover, the thesis attempts to identify some undermining factors of the proven spatial pattern in allocation of pork barrel financial sources. The selection of supported projects highly depends on subjective preferences of particular deputies being influenced by many factors. Accordingly, the diploma thesis examines a role of the spatial distribution of deputies' places of living and their influences on the spatial allocation of the pork barrel through the state budget being approved in the Lower House.

Regional analysis of assets of mutual funds in Czech Republic

Mutual Funds in the Czech Republic are managed and administered by local and foreign investment companies. The aim of this thesis is to execute a regional analysis of assets distribution of the largest mutual funds based on information about portfolio of securities. Thus, it reveals, into which countries (in the case of Czech Republic: regions) and groupings, investments of mutual funds are directed the most. Furthermore, the typology of mutual funds and proprietary structures of administering investment companies are discovered. The results of the work show that investments of the mutual funds in the Czech Republic are concentrated mainly in the capital city, Prague. Concentration of headquarters of local investment companies in Prague has been found out as well, which confirms the position of the capital city as the financial centre.
