The work of the Czech TV Ethics Board in 2004-2013

This study analyses the work of the Czech television Ethics board. It starts at the beginning of his modern activity (2004) and finishes in 2013. It describes the context of origin, the principles, the members and the agenda in particular periods. The reports of the Czech television Board and the annual reports were used especially in the first part of this study. Czech television Ethics board's documents were analysed using the quantitative and qualitative analysis. Thanks to this the whole agenda of the Ethics board could be summarized. In the last part the Ethics board's documents were compared to journalistic standards. The main aim was to bring a complex handbook for the journalist without practical experience. That's why it comprises a chapter which explains the most important media concepts.

It describes the context of origin, the principles, the members and the agenda in particular periods. The reports of the Czech television Board and the annual reports were used especially in the first part of this study. Czech television Ethics board's documents were analysed using the quantitative and qualitative analysis. Thanks to this the whole agenda of the Ethics board could be summarized. The Ethics board's documents were also compared to journalistic standards. The main aim was to bring a complex handbook for the journalist without practical experience. That's why it comprises a chapter which explains the most important media concepts and a chapter which analyses its media coverage on internet servers.

Media coverage of doctors in a connection to manifestation "Děkujeme - odcházíme"in daily press

The main aim of this study was to describe the media coverage of the manifestation "Děkujeme, odcházíme" ("Thank you we're leaving" in English) in the daily press Mladá fronta Dnes and Právo. In this manifestation doctors complained about bad financial and organizational conditions of the Czech health care system. They put forward several requests - among other things, they wanted to change the system of education, improve the control of finances in hospitals as well as they asked for salary increase. If their requests hadn't been heard, they would have left their current jobs and started working in the private sector or even abroad. This study used quantitative content analysis as well as qualitative content analysis and also described topics and participants that appeared in the articles concerning the manifestation. Moreover it also described the media coverage of the doctors who participated in the manifestation.
