Communication with GALILEO Navigation System

This bachelor thesis is about a communication with an European navigation satellite system GALILEO. The theoretical part describes principles of global navigation satellite systems, including a summary of characteristics of the systems currently in use. It analyses all technical aspects of design and implementation of a communication instrument operating with navigation module U-blox LEA-5H. As a result of the work, an efficient communication of invented instrument is summarized and also possibilities of upgrading to other functions are analysed.

Biometric Recognition of 3D Faces

Diplomová práce byla vypracována na studijním pobytu na "Gjovik University College" v Norsku, a je zpracována v angličtině. Tato práce se zabývá rozpoznáváním 3D obličejů. Je zde popsán obecný biometrický systém a také konkrétní postupy používané při rozpoznávání 2D i 3D obličejů. Následně je navžena metoda pro rozpoznávání 3D obličejů. Algoritmus je vyvíjen a testován pomocí databáze Face Recognition Grand Challenge (FRGC). Během předzpracování jsou nalezeny význačné body v obličeji a následně je trojrozměrný model zarovnán do referenční polohy. Dále jsou vstupní data porovnávána s biometrickými šablonami uloženými v databázi, a to je zajištěno využitím tří základních technik pro rozpoznávání obličejů -- metoda eigenface (PCA), rozpoznávání založené na histogramu obličeje a rozpoznávání založené na anatomických rysech. Nakonec jsou jednotlivé metody spojeny do jednoho systému, jehož celková výsledná výkonnost převyšuje výkonnost jednotlivých použitých technik.

Superresolution

Úkolem této diplomové práce je navrhnout vlastní metodu pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze scény, pokud je k dispozici více snímků dané scény. V teoretické části diplomové práce jsou jako nejlepší metody pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze vybrány ty, které jsou založeny na principech zpracování signálu. Dále jsou popsány základní požadavky metod pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze při přítomnosti více snímků stejné scény a jejich typická struktura. Následuje stručný přehled těchto metod a jejich vzájemné porovnání podle optimálních kritérií. Praktická část diplomové práce se zabývá samotným návrhem metody pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze, pokud je k dispozici více snímků této scény. První navržená metoda je naimplementována a otestována. Při testování této metody je však zjištěna její špatná funkčnost pro snímky scény s nízkým rozlišením, které vznikly vzájemnou rotací. Z toho důvodu je navržena vylepšená metoda pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze. Tato metoda využívá při svém výpočtu robustních technik. Díky tomu je již vylepšená metoda nezávislá na rotaci mezi snímky scény s nízkým rozlišením. I tato metoda je řádně otestována a její výsledky jsou porovnány s výsledky první navržené metody pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze. V porovnání výpočetních časů je lepší první navrhovaná metoda, avšak její výsledky pro obrazy obsahující rotace nejsou kvalitní. Oproti tomu pro obrazy, které vznikly pouze posunem při snímání scény, jsou tyto výsledky velice dobré. Vylepšená metoda je tedy využitelná zejména pro obrazy obsahující rotace. V závěru této práce je ještě navrženo jedno vylepšení, které by mohlo zlepšit výsledky druhé navrhnuté metody pro zvýšení rozlišení v obraze scény.

Recognition of Finger Veins of a Human Hand

This diploma thesis deals with different ways of grayscale image processing of veins in a finger of human hand. The process consists of vein structure extraction, and then this structure is compared with collection of provided snapshots. First of all we introduced problem of biometric systems and image processing. There are presented also some commercial solutions from the same field. Within the detailed description of image processing we suggested different modifications in adaptive thresholding algorithm, feature extraction, which continues into comparison of vein structures. Thesis is closed by testing and final review.

3D Spatial Indexing of Objects

This diploma thesis defines the term indexing and in preamble are discussed known indexing algorithms and difference between indexing static and moving objects. The practical part of this diploma thesis is aimed to designing and implementing of indexing algorithm for open source application MaNGOS with respect to generic design pattern and effectiveness of spatial search queries for selection of the objects given properties in the specified area. At the end I present and discuss reached results.

Human Recognition by Finger Veins

The master's thesis deals with biometric systems, especially these based on human recognition by finger veins. It describes some development principles of the new biometric system. It proposes some new approaches to the comparison of finger vein patterns and their fast identification in sizable databases. Verification is based on templates comparison by similarity and distance measures with proposed alignment approaches. The proposed method of identification is based on the combination of clustering and genetic algorithm. The second option is using the indexing tree structure and searching by range query.

Adaptive Model for Simulation of Atmospheric Pollution

Air pollution harms the environment and human welfare. Computer models and their simulation are useful tools for deeper understanding of processes behind as they quite accurately represent the dispersion and transformation of pollutants with advection diffusion equation or by other concepts. Current models give valid results only to constrained cases of initial conditions. The general model combining the several specific models which is able to change according to input parametres and improve with training is proposed. The adaptiveness of the system is provided by decision tree as data structure with information for selection and combination process and genetic algorithm as optimization method for adjusting the tree. The evaluation of implemented system proves that the combination of models gives better results than models themselves. Even with simple specific models, the system has achieved results comparable to state-of-art models of air pollution.

Programming of KUKA industrial robots

This bachelor’s thesis discusses with analysis of current options of industrial robots programming. It deals with manipulating industrial robots, their different programming types, properties, comparison and introduces with new trends in the field of on-line, off-line and CAD/CAM programming. Demonstration gripping task with vacuum gripper, whose resulting in a general algorithm and manipulation program for KUKA robot, is solved in final part of this thesis.
