The case-law of Czech courts with respect to environmental protection
Dudák, Jan ; Franková, Martina (advisor) ; Stejskal, Vojtěch (referee)
The main purpose of my thesis is to examine the case law made by the Czech courts related to environmental issues and to formulate general conclusion from the analyzed case law. My goal was also to prove whether the considered case law is contradictory, or not. I browsed many judicial collections, legal journals etc. and I paid attention to equal or not equal decision making in similar matters. My study concerns on the issues which are solved by the courts either contradictory, contrary to the past, in a new perspective or even surprising for its different reasoning in comparison to the doctrine. The thesis firstly deals with the role of the courts in the environmental protection, than it focuses on the basic issues of environmental law, in particular at the right on a healthy environment and the restraint of property right. A special part of the thesis is devoted to the administrative proceedings with a potential impact on the environment and the effectiveness of legal protection provided by the courts. Finally, the thesis deals with the judge made law related to the protection of nature and landscape as well as other spheres of environment. The judge made law in environmental issues is essentially uniform, but in certain question it is contradictory. There is a significant tension between the doctrine and...
Complexity of compact metrizable spaces
Dudák, Jan ; Vejnar, Benjamin (advisor) ; Zelený, Miroslav (referee)
We study the complexity of the homeomorphism relation on the classes of metrizable compacta and Peano continua using the notion of Borel reducibil- ity. For each of these two classes we consider two different codings. Metrizable compacta can be naturally coded by the space of compact subsets of the Hilbert cube with the Vietoris topology. Alternatively, we can use the space of continuous functions from the Cantor space to the Hilbert cube with the topology of uniform convergence, where two functions are considered as equivalent iff their images are homeomorphic. Similarly, Peano continua can be coded either by the space of Peano subcontinua of the Hilbert cube, or (due to the Hahn-Mazurkiewicz theo- rem) by the space of continuous functions from r0, 1s to the Hilbert cube. We show that for both classes the two codings have the same complexity (the complexity of the universal orbit equivalence relation). Among other results, we also prove that the homeomorphism relation on the space of nonempty compact subsets of any given Polish space is Borel bireducible with the above mentioned equivalence relation on the space of continuous functions from the Cantor space to the Polish space.
Jordan Curve Theorem
Dudák, Jan ; Vejnar, Benjamin (advisor) ; Kurka, Ondřej (referee)
Title: The Jordan Curve Theorem Author: Jan Dudák Department: Department of Mathematical Analysis Supervisor: Mgr. Benjamin Vejnar, Ph.D., Department of Mathematical Analysis Abstract: The crucial part of this work is the proof of the Jordan curve theorem. To this end, the work starts by introducing necessary notions (e.g. a curve or an arc) and showing their basic properties. Further on, the Brouwer fixed point theorem is proved (in the 2-dimensional case) as well as some of its corollaries which are then used (together with several other proven assertions) in the proof of the Jordan curve theorem. The last chapter of this work briefly informs about possible generalisations of the Jordan curve theorem, referencing to appropriate bibliography. Keywords: Jordan curve, arc, plane, connected component 1

Pension reform in Czech Republic and the second pillar
Dudák, Jan ; Poláková, Olga (advisor) ; Pícl, Michal (referee)
The current pension system in the Czech Republic is economically unsustainable in long term. Reason of this situation is mainly negative demographics development. According to expert estimates, the pension system will produce, over the period 30 -- 40 years, annual deficits of 4-5 % of GDP. The most significant change in current pension reform is creation of fully funded pillar, so called second pillar. This work analyses strengths and weakness of this reform, also comments actual criticism and discussion of this reform. Work shows that especially the lack of political consensus threatens the future stability of second pillar. Subsequent analysis of the profitability of entry to the second pillar shows that the entry will be most profitable for younger individuals with above-average incomes. In conclusion, the work proposes alternative options to secure in pension, in particular deposit products and investment in the property market. The work is completed by own sample survey with the main objective to find out the willingness of respondents to enter the second pillar.
