Two-stroke single-cylinder motorcycle engine with exhaust valves
Slovák, Marek ; Svída, David (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
The master´s thesis deals with the design of two-stroke uniflow scavenged motorcycle engine according to patent František Pudil (PV 7018-80) 216305. The engine has been designed for using in off-road sport motorcycles. The objective of this thesis is to design the engine of this conception and to reveal benefits and defects of this concept by using this method. In this thesis the emphasis is put on design of the construction groups which are directly related to unconventional concept of engine. On the other hand, the parts which can be designed conventionally were solved marginally or were not solved at all. In the first part of the thesis there are thoroughly dicsussed expected benefits and disadvantages of this concept. Computational part focuses on valvetrain and porting of engine. Last part deals with design of engine parts.
Variable Valvetrain Systems
Věříš, Michal ; Janoušek, Michal (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis focuses on the variable valve actuation systems and their influence mainly on spark-ignition engines. Describes the principle of their function, comparison of each other, brief history and a view to future developments. Part of the work is also a simulation of VTEC-E.
Connecting rod of four-stroke spark-ignition engine
Kuzník, Bořek ; Svída, David (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
The purpose of this thesis is to carry out a brief research on the connecting rods currently used in cars, to design a new connecting rod, to create kinetic and dynamic model of the crank mechanism, and finally to conduct its strength analysis. Design documentation of the proposed solution is also included.
Crank mechanism with a high mechanical efficiency
Drápal, Lubomír ; Tůma, Jiří (referee) ; Páv,, Karel (referee) ; Píštěk, Václav (advisor)
This document describes the possibilities of increasing the mechanical efficiency of the crank train of an internal-combustion engine. For this purpose, a concept with a reduced number of main bearings is chosen and its contribution is verified experimentally. The proposed solution consists of an innovative crankshaft design of a four-cylinder spark-ignition engine with only three main journal bearings and laser-welded sheet metal crank webs. The new design is compared to the mass-produced one in terms of friction losses, vibrations and loading of engine parts by means of simulations of crank train dynamics using the Multi-Body System. The increase in vibration, accompanied by a reduction in friction losses, is compensated by a torsional vibration damper and its effect is experimentally verified. Experimental research of laser welds on the crankshaft in terms of fatigue life is also described. The overall potential is also summarised and further possible development of this innovative and patented design is outlined.
Design of Modern V8 Combustion Engine
Šebesta, Radek ; Drápal, Lubomír (referee) ; Svída, David (advisor)
Master´s thesis is considered with design and construction of V8 combustion engine with small size and low mass of its body. In the construction were used mass-produced components from the other engines. From every component was generated a 3D model in computer program Pro/Engineer, new necessary parts were made in the same program and put together to assembly. Main part of the construction was to design a new crankshaft, a crankcase and an engine lubricating system. The crankshaft was subjected computing analysis in program Pro/Mechanica, using FEM.
Internal combustion engines for research
Chromý, Martin ; Svída, David (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This Bachelor's Thesis is devoting to the evolution and history of experimental combustion engines. It is describing their construction, proportions and possibilities of the today’s experimental engines and it also outlinig the areas of research, what they are used for. We can also find here, what benefit means this equipment for the evolution in this area of research.

This work elaboration basic survey and historical development active systems pf car chassis. Focus on modern conception and try valorize positive and negative single solving. Focus on modern conception and try valorize print and negative single solving.
Power Losses of a Rolling Bearing
Šedo, Matej ; Novotný, Pavel (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
Subject of this thesis is analysis of friction power losses in rolling bearings and design and implementation of computing program. Thesis is divided into six chapters. At the beginning there is overview of different types of rolling bearings and their system of lubrication. Fundamentals of elastohydrodynamic lubrication are described together with effects that occur in lubricant. Remaining part is focused on friction in rolling bearing its sources and calculation. Other programs for computing friction losses are shown and own program is designed. Designed program is applied on bearings of chosen type and results are compared with existing models.
Variable compression ratio for an internal combustion engine
Dragoun, Jan ; Svída, David (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
This bachelor thesis describes the advantages and disadvantages of structures with variable compression ratio used in the past, present, and realistically applicable in the future depending on the current trend of modern developments in engine design.
Spark-ignition engine concept for hybrid passenger car
Břoušek, Roman ; Böhm, Michael (referee) ; Drápal, Lubomír (advisor)
Thesis aims on calculating method of engine conception for hybrid power train usage. Aim is to describe briefly overview of common combustion engines in hybrid power trains of the passenger cars. According this overview a proposal of naturally aspirated spark ignition combustion engine by specified parameters in 1-D CFD will be made, while the effort is to take into account less complexity and production costs at the same time higher efficiency in the most load modes.
