Influence of caffeine on strength performance
Jílková, Anna ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor thesis is divided into theoretical and practical part. The theoretical part is divided into several chapters which deal with general properties of caffeine, its structure, metabolism, occurrence and effects on human organism. A special chapter deals with sports issues and the use of caffeine in sports. The practical part includes individual research into the influence of caffeine on the strenght performance and on the human organism. The aim of this work was to find out whether caffeine shows ergogenic effects at a strenght performance of 1 RM. For this, an experiment was used in which the participants underwent two tests, in one using caffeine 3 mg / kg body weight, in the other using placebo. The challenge was to lift as much weight as possible for one maximum repetition (1RM) in bench press and deadlift exercises. A total of 24 people, 17 women and 7 men with an average age of 27 years and an average BMI of 23.8 underwent the experiment. The test results showed an average improvement of 2.3 kg for deadlift and 0.3 kg for bench press. However, these values are not statistically significant (p = 0.253 and p = 0.775). Key words: caffeine, strenght performance, dietary suplements, deadlift, bench press
Differences in nutrition of Czech national team in sport climbing and competitive climbers
Kuncířová, Veronika ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
This master thesis evaluates the nutrition of Czech representation in sport climbing. The main goal is the monitoring of quantitative and qualitative composition of the Czech national team in sport climbing and comparing the results with the average group of climbers. The thesis is divided into two parts. The theoretical part deals with the morphological and functional characteristics of a sports climber. It also discusses the specific nutritional requirements related to this sport. The practical part consists of evaluation of the data, which were obtained on the basis of anthropometric measurement, short questionnaire, and five-day dietary record. Anthropometric measurements compare the body compositions of respondents. The aim of questionnaires is to evaluate the interest of individuals in nutrition and type of climbing training. Dietary records monitor the energy balance and the nutritional composition of the food. Eating records were evaluated in Nutri Pro Expert software. Results from both groups were compared with each other and also with the recommendations for the population. The purpose was to find out whether the nutrition recommendations of the Czech representation were fulfilled and also to describe the main differences in diet between top athletes and the average climbing group. The...
The effect of the combination of dietary supplements on the body composition of single-sex twins with comparable sports activity
Kvízová, Anna ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
The bachelor thesis deals with the influence of the combination of dietary supplements on the body composition of single-sex twins with comparable sports activity. The theoretical part of the thesis includes nutrition from the general point of view and the importance of individual macronutrients and micronutrients in sport. There are mentioned also selected types of sports nutrition supplements, which are widely used in order to support nutrition to achieve better performance, better recovery after sports performance, muscle tissue growth etc. The theoretical part deals with the nutrition of individual population groups from inactive individuals to the top athletes. The practical part of the thesis focuses on research aiming at the detection of the difference in body fat loss, the increase in body muscle mass and the increase of the basal metabolic rate in single-sex twins for three months. Nowadays, many individuals, especially women, are considering whether to add supplements to achieve better results and performance even though they do not train at the same level as top athletes or high endurance ones. Throughout the research, both subjects had the same diet regimen, a training program, the only difference was in the use of specified supplements in one of the twins (subject 1). To determine body...
Change in bodyweight and body composition during the weightlifting training unit and nutrition in strength sports
Vašků, Karolína ; Matoulek, Martin (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
This bachelor thesis monitors changes in body weight and body composition during training in professional athletes, three women and four men, from the Czech weightlifting team. The theoretical part describes components of the body composition, basic methods and calculations for its assessment. In addition, energy substrates used in weightlifting and sport nutrition basics, including suitable supplements for power athletes, are mentioned. In the practical part, using the bioelectric impedance device, we evaluated the actual body composition and energy needs of individuals in a series of three defined measurements-before training, after training, and after meals. The results of our qualitative research confirm that the energy needs of power athletes are far higher than predicted. We compared the minimum caloric requirement values obtained with the In Body 230 device measurement to those obtained using the Harris-Benedicts predictive equations (HBE), and pointed to significant deviations in basal metabolism calculations and inaccuracy of the results obtained with this equation. In most cases, with HBE, we have experienced undervalue in comparison to the In Body measurement. We have also confirmed the fact that the BMI is not suitable for the weight loss evaluation in weightlifters because of the...
Monitoring of carbohydrate income in sportsmen's diet
Pourová, Veronika ; Vilikus, Zdeněk (advisor) ; Petráková Doležalová, Radka (referee)
The topic of my master thesis is monitoring of carbohydrate intake in sportsmen's diet. In the thesis, intake of carbohydrates as well as other macronutrients is monitored in order to evaluate, if athletes prefer other energy sources to carbohydrates and if their total energy intake is sufficient. If athletes prefer easily digestible carbohydrates or if they follow recommendation for healthy diet and increase their intake of whole foods, legumes, fruits and vegetables can be evaluated by monitoring fiber and sugar intake. All the monitored data are compared with non-athletes in order to see, in which field their diets vary. In the theoretical part, principles of sports nutrition are defined, basics of population recommendations are mentioned and methods of nutritional assessment and energy expenditure estimation are explained. In the practical part, five-day food-diaries of athletes and non-athletes are evaluated by NutriPro Expert software. Five-day physical activity diaries recorded during the same days are evaluated by using the Compendium of Physical Activities. All the studied values (energy intake, energy expenditure, carbohydrate, fat, protein, sugar, fiber and alcohol intake) were compared to recommended values for athletes and non- athletes and further compared among these two groups. The...
Business Model Analysis of the Czech Peer-to-Peer Insurance Carrier
Doležalová, Radka ; Polák, Petr (advisor) ; Hanus, Luboš (referee)
This thesis provides comprehensive description of a new phenomenon of peer-to-peer in- surance focusing on the classification of its main tendencies. The extended overview is accompanied by the original and unique analysis of the business model of The First Club Insurance Carrier, the only Czech peer-to-peer insurance company. The suitability of the concept developed by The First Club Insurance Carrier is tested using five different scenarios derived from its competitors on the Czech insurance market. The profitability and ability to produce payable bonuses for clients in an appropriate amount as proposed by the founders of the company are considered on the ground of scenarios simulating the future development of The First Club Insurance Carrier. On the basis of the created prediction scenarios, the research concludes that the company could achieve a positive economic result in next few years. The amount of givebacks (payable bonuses) has not accomplished the expected amount of 15% of the gross earned premium but it ranges between 9% and 10% in most scenarios. This thesis offers also some requirements for more favorable outcomes (such as a better distribution of gross earned premium between reinsurance and claims expenses). The subsequent what-if analysis showed the insignific- ance of the potential...
The role of adipose tissue in endothelial dysfunction, etherosclerosis and other complications of metabolic syndrome: influence of diet and pharmacotherapy
Doležalová, Radka ; Haluzík, Martin (advisor) ; Šenolt, Ladislav (referee) ; Kábrt, Jan (referee)
The metabolic effects of obesity have made this disease one of the most common risk factors for diabetes, hypertension, and atherosclerosis. Adipose tissue is now recognized as an active secretory and immune organ. Chronic inflammation is a common feature of the obesity, and inflammatory signals may originate within visceral adipose tissue as this fat depot expands in response to chronic positive energy balance. Both adipocytes and macrophages within fat secrete numerous hormones and cytokines that have local effects on WAT physiology but also systemic effects on other organs and may markedly contribute to the development of pathophysiological disorders associated with metabolic syndrome. On the contrary, leanness as well as significant weight reduction in obese patients increases production and circulating levels of metabolically beneficial factors and decreases production of proinflammatory and insulin resistance-inducing factors. Endothelial dysfunction and inflammation are important signs of vascular risk and worsened prognosis in patients with metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. Measures of endothelial function remain invaluable for research into disease mechanism and response to new therapies. An interesting area of ongoing investigation is the role of thiazolidinediones in improving endothelial...

Classification of heart beats using artificial neuronal networks
Doležalová, Radka ; Vítek, Martin (referee) ; Ronzhina, Marina (advisor)
This work deals with using of artificial neural networks (ANN) for ECG classification. The issue of ECG and ANN technique are described theoretically at first, the next section describes use of Matlab to design ANN and graphical user interface. ECG data (namely QRST segments from the orthogonal X- lead from seven phases of the experiment) obtained from experiments in isolated hearts of rabbits are used for learning and testing of the classifier. The result of this work is the software with GUI that allows user to set various parameters and structure of ANN. After learning phase, ANN realized in this work able to classify cardiac cycles according to their morphology into seven groups.
Classification of mental workload using brain connectivity measure
