Consequences of NAFTA Trade Agreement for the Car Industry in North America

The subject of this thesis is the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), signed between the United States of America, Canada and Mexico and its impact on the automotive industry in North America between the years 1994, when NAFTA came into force, and 2009, when two major American car manufacturers, General Motors and Chrysler, went bankrupt during the global-scale recession and the industry changed significantly. The thesis is based on the theory of comparative advantages, as it was described by a British economist David Ricardo in the 19th century. It subscribes to the general principle that a free trade is beneficial to all engaged parties, because it enables more effective allocation of resources and provides for more specialization of production. The thesis argues NAFTA was a complex and ambitious international trade deal that had profound impact on the evolution of this branch of industry in the United States, Canada and Mexico, however its impact on the economy as a whole was limited and many of the changes, attributed to NAFTA, would likely have happened even without its passage due to the natural process of evolution of the industry and modernization. Machine learning is one of the fastest growing branches of modern science. It is a subfield of artificial intelligence research that is interested the problem of making computers help us solve complex modern problems. Games play an important role in this field because they represent the perfect environment for testing of new approaches and benchmarking against human performance. Starcraft 2 is currently in the spotlight, thanks to its broad playerbase and its complexity. The practical goal of this paper is to create an advantage actor critic agent that is able to operate in the environment of this game.

Processing Sensor Data from a Wearable Device by Machine Learning

The goal of this master's thesis is to analyze the situation of wearable devices with the Android Wear operating system and recognition capabilities of various movement activities using neural networks. The primary focus is therefore on identifying and describing the most appropriate tool for recognizing dynamic movements using machine learning methods based on data obtained from this type of devices. The practical part of the thesis then comments on the implementation of a stand-alone Android Wear application capable of recording and formatting data from sensors, training the neural network in a designed external desktop tool, and then reusing trained neural network for motion recognition directly on the device.

Web Tool for Estimation of Document Size

Aim of this thesis is to design and create web tool, which will allow users to get a text range in standard pages from a PDF file. The thesis introduces algorithms designed for retrieving statistics from a file. The tool is implemented using Python and Django framework, user interface is realized by HTML, CSS and JavaScript. Result of this thesis is a tool that provides text statistics, image statistics and chapters overview. Benefit of this tool is also more precise page counting in documents with images in comparison with other tools.

Deep Learning for Object Detection

This thesis analyzes different object detection methods which are based on deep neural networks. In the beginning, the convolutional neural networks are described and commonly used object detection methods are compared. In the following parts, the proposal and implementation of the object detection model trained on the specific dataset are described. In conclusion, the achieved results of this model are discussed and compared with the results of other methods.

Android App for Security Monitoring of Communication

This diploma thesis is focused on implementation of application for security monitoring of network communication of other applications in mobile device with Android platform. Provides users information about security risks that may harm his/her privacy or device. It uses a local VPN to tunnel all data sent to the wireless network. These can be linked to an application that has sent them because the Android kernel is derived from the Linux kernel and can be used to retrieve information about established network connections and the application identifier associated with the connection. This mapping allows to get more information about an app that is potentially dangerous for your mobile device.

Information System and User Interface for Career Fair

This work focuses on the design and implementation of an information system and user interface for day of career opportunities at Olomouc grammar school. The aim of this thesis is to design an information system and user interface through which the presenters can apply for the event, the organizers can manage the event and interact with the visitors of the event. This thesis focuses on implementing an clear and easy - to - use user interface. The information system is implemented using Laravel framework, PHP language and Bootstrap 3 library. The thesis presents the design and implementation of database structure, use cases, information system and user interface. Testing was carried out using participants from previous years. The resultant information system is ready for deployment. The contribution of this work is simplifying the work of the organizers, providing visitors with information and getting information easily on mobile devices.

Reconstruction of 3D Information about Vehicles Passing in front of a Surveillance Camera

This master's thesis focuses on 3D reconstruction of vehicles passing in front of a traffic surveillance camera. Calibration process of surveillance camera is first introduced and the relation of automatic calibration with 3D information about observed traffic is described. Furthermore, Structure from Motion, SLAM, and optical flow algorithms are presented. A set of experiments with feature matching and the Structure from Motion algorithm is carried out to examine results on images of passing vehicles. Afterwards, the Structure from Motion pipeline is modified. Instead of using SIFT features, DeepMatching algorithm is utilized to obtain quasi-dense point correspondences for the subsequent reconstruction phase. Afterwards, reconstructed models are refined by applying additional constraints specific to the vehicle reconstruction task. The resultant models are then evaluated. Lastly, observations and acquired information about the process of vehicle reconstruction are utilized to form proposals for prospective design of an entirely custom pipeline that would be specialized for 3D reconstruction of passing vehicles.

War Powers of the U.S. President in War Against Terrorism: A Case Study of President Bush's Military Order for November 13, 2001

The subjects of this thesis are the war powers of the U.S. President. The main theory of this work is that from the beginning of the 20th century, there is the trend of expanding presidential powers and a strong executive which peaked during the presidency of George W. Bush under the influence of extraordinary circumstances that had been in place after the terrorist attacks of 9/11. This theory will be proved by the case study of a Military Order of November 13, 2001 regarding Detention, Treatment, and Trial of Certain Non-Citizens in the War Against Terrorism issued by president George W. Bush and by the analysis of communication between certain members of the executive. This thesis seeks answers to questions whether the U.S. Constitution is able to cope with the threat of global terrorism, in what ways President Bush overstepped his constitutional authority and whether the presidency of George W. Bush could be regarded as a case of an "imperial presidency" as described by Arthur Schlesinger Jr.
