Charles University in Prague Faculty of Pharmacy in Hradec Králové Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Drug Control Candidate: Jan Bureš Supervisor: PharmDr. Petra Kovaříková, Ph.D. Title of diploma thesis: Development of an analytical method for evaluation of pro-drug - boronyl salicylaldehyde isonicotinoyl hydrazone in biological material High performance liquid chromatography is nowadays one of the most frequently used and progressive analytical method in pharmaceutical analysis. It can be used for both qualitative and quantitative analysis of complicated samples also in a biological matrix. Iron is a vital element for all organisms. It's essential for a proper function of variety of crucial enzymes. On the other hand it's excess in the body is harmful and it is connected with progress of various pathological conditions. Hence iron chelation therapy is an effective tool to treat and protect living cells against injurious effect of iron. Iron chelators were originally used to treat iron overload disease. Czech society at the beginning of normalization
Fejtl, Michal ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Štefek, Martin (referee)
The thesis discusses the influence of three levels of Czech society after the year 1968. The first plane is the ideology of the new regime, which is called normalization. It was possible to force people to loyalty by Marxism-Leninism? And what ideological basis had the the normalization regime in Czechoslovakia, which was to legitimize his power? Second and broadmost is the plane of the social policy of the state. Since 1945 a large social network is developing in Czechoslovakia that has a great success especially in the consolidation of the new communist regime in the early 50th of the 20 century. After 1968, the situation is different than 20 years ago. This chapter focuses on each single area of social policy and examines the positive sides, but also negative ones. What had normalization social policy succeed in and what was the extent to which it led to consolidation of postaugust society in Czechoslovakia? On the other hand the text will be dealing with the negative aspects of social benefits offered by the regime. These negatives then largely contributed to the collapse of the regime at the end of 1989. The third chapter examines the extent of the early normalization strong criminal repression and their complexion. Social policy of the state in this part gets through with penal repression and...
Transformation of the KSČ/M since 1989
Roleček, Hynek ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Buben, Radek (referee)
Transformation and Splitting of the KSČ/M since 1989 The process of transformation of the Czechoslovak Communist Party (KSČ) and its successor the Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia (KSČM) since November 1989 is a unique example of incomplete transformation of the communist party into the non- communist party. The core of this process was the development of the KSČ and the KSČM in 1989-1996. The party following a change in the political system saves in the first free elections in 1990. The party searches possibilities of changes, which culminates into internal referendum in 1991- 1992, when the majority decides to keep the original labelling. The decisive point of the whole process is Congress in Prostějov in June 1993 when the winning faction prevents the radical change and preserves the party. Despite the strong party splitting, which creates a lot of non-communist parties, the KSČM may rely on the solid core of voters in the elections of 1996. It is a signal for the party that the trend starting by KSČM consolidates positions, even offers other options for strengthening. I study the consequences of the transformation of the KSČ/M in my work from several perspectives. We can read an effort for transformation into the party of the democratic type, democratic centralism was rejected. KSČM crystallizes...

Bureš, Jan ; Hlaváčová, Jaroslava (advisor) ; Mírovský, Jiří (referee)
This thesis has two main goals. The Year 1968 and the Issue of "Democratic Socialism" in Media Discussion
Tomka, Petr ; Tůma, Oldřich (advisor) ; Bureš, Jan (referee)
The aim of this thesis is to analyze the notion of "democratic socialism" from the perspective of the media discussions on the pages of the contemporary press during the Prague Spring. The contemporary notion of "democratic socialism" relates here to the issue of searching of a possible new form of political system at the moment that the currently existing communist regime was finding itself in a deep crisis concerning almost all of its aspects and resulting eventually in the attempt of its overall reform in the year 1968. The political thought of Prague Spring is in this thesis divided into three main groups - reformist politicians, communist intellectuals and representatives of the non-party public, whereas by means of the analysis of the contemporary press the author tries to take a portrait of a certain general view of representatives of this three currents about the sense and substance of ongoing events and on the basis of the assessment of these factors consequently demonstrates that in their reflections on a possible goal of the political reforms are found important differences with regard to the issue of democratic character of the intended regime of "democratic socialism". Far right in Scandinavia: achievements and failures
Košatková, Iva ; Bureš, Jan (advisor) ; Buben, Radek (referee)
This diploma thesis deals with far right parties in Scandinavia and their achievements and failures since their birth in the beginning of the seventies. Conditions of the origin and development of the contemporary far right parties and a definition of this ideological party family are analyzed on the background of a broader theoretical framework. The thesis pursues ideological-political and programmatic shifts of the Progress Party (FrPd) and Danish People's Party (DFP) in Denmark, Progress Party (FrPn) in Norway and New Democracy (NyD) in Sweden and their contemporary role within the system using Beyme's concept of three waves of the postwar far right in Western Europe. The aim of this diploma thesis is to find out which factors and conditions were relevant for the emergence and subsequent consolidation of new far right parties in the three respective Scandinavian party systems chosen as subjects of this comparative analysis. Comparing the two successful far right parties - the Norwegian and Danish Progress Parties plus the Danish People's Party - with the negative case of Sweden's New Democracy, the thesis concludes that economic stability and prosperity with low unemployment rate on the system level and charismatic leadership with strong party organisation on the party level are most favourable to the...
