Pátý, Lukáš ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Novotný, Robert (referee)
This thesis concerns the Strakonice league, an association of largely Catholic estates of 1449. It tries to conceive the topic in another way, than the older literature did, which did not pay attention to the Strakonice league not specially, but dealed with it mostly in the frame of the description of Bohemian political and military history. The thesis tries to bring new pieces of knowledge of the Strakonice league by means of analyse of correspondence of the lords of Rosenberg (Rožmberk) and of another sources. Concerning the course of the military and diplomatic struggle with the Poděbrady league itself, the emphasis is put on selected, less known aspects. League's attempts to cooperate with the lands adjoining the Czech crown are included, too. The relation of the Strakonice league to foreign countries, where the league was looking for allies, is elaborated in the next section. The last part of the thesis is a prosopographical research of the league members. This section is based on collecting of data about individual persons or towns that entered the Strakonice league. The members' political career, motivation for their entrance into the league, possesion and their relations to each other are studied. All this gives evidence about the rate of force and compactness of the league and it can...
The Term "crown" in designation of The Kingdom of Aragon and The Kingdom of Bohemia in the Middle Ages
Vlková, Tereza ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Drška, Václav (referee)
The denomination corona/crown is not exceptional in the name of the medieval state. But its meaning and sense was not always the same. The comparison of the denomination the lands of the Bohemian Crown can be led to England, France or Hungary, but to Aragon as well. The comparison of the tradition of using this denomination in Aragon and Kingdom of Bohemia is the main goal of this thesis. The part of this thesis is also devoted to the territorial expanse and territorial gains of both of them. I have chosen charters of kings of Aragon and I tried to detect the meaning ant the evolution of the term corona. From the comparison of the term corona in czech and aragon charters I got number of similarities. In both Crowns the term appears in time when the territory expands. Also the term appears in incorporation charter first. Very interesting is almost similar evolution of the position of the term corona, when at the beginng it stands next to the term regnum and finally we can find it alone. Key words: Crown of Bohemia - Crown of Aragon - Crown Lands - Kingdom - John of Luxemburg (the Blind) - Charles IV - Ramon Berenguer IV. - James I. the Conqueror - Peter III. the Great - James II. the Fair - Peter IV. the Ceremonious

Boukal, Jan ; Zilynská, Blanka (advisor) ; Bobková, Lenka (referee)
The theme of this thesis is history of the knights (later lords) of Vřesovice in the late Middle Ages. The work deals mainly with political and economic role of the family members in the late medieval Bohemia, with special attention to the hussite captain Jakoubek of Vřesovice, who was mainly responisible for family rise. Furthermore, this work tries to answer the question, what happened to the family of Vřesovice since Jakoubek's death until the late Middle Ages, because during the 16th century, knights of Vřesovice belonged to the most powerful aristocratic families in Bohemia. Family members from the times of king George and Jagellonian rulers were not yet reflected by many historians. Fates of individual family members are assessed and placed into historical context. The work deals with property relations of knights of Vřesovice and manifestations of their aristocratic representation. As a whole, the work probes into political, economic, cultural and social life in late medieval northwest Bohemia. Key words: Jakoubek of Vřesovice, gentry, nordwest Bohemia, late Middle ages, 15.-16. century, castles, heraldy

Henry of Poděbrady, the son of king George of Poděbrady
Věchet, Jan ; Bobková, Lenka (advisor) ; Zilynská, Blanka (referee)
Henry of Poděbrady, the son of king George of Poděbrady Jan Věchet Abstract The main aim of this bachelor's dissertation is to gainsay the myths which surround the personality of Henry of Poděbrady, the youngest son of Hussite king George, who is in the Czech scholar tradition usually considered to be the black sheep of the family of Poděbrady. He is being presented by many high school teachers as a philanderer, drunkard and a chronic debtor who had feasted away all the inheritance from his father. But there is no evidence for such a negative depiction of Henry's character to be found in the historical sources. In this biography, we would like to describe Henry's life as precisely as we can with the little of what has been left from the reliable sources, and we would like to prove that the reality of his life was a lot more austere. In the first part (before year 1471) we shall focus on Henry's childhood which had had a key impact on his future. The upbringing at the Prague's court had prepared him for the role of the king's younger sons and his only duty was to represent his family and become a part of his father's marriage policy. The second part (after year 1471) describes Henry as an adult. His father king George died unexpectedly about a month after Henry's marriage and so under these circumstances,...
