Compression Methods Based on Context Modelling
Kozák, Filip ; Drábek, Vladimír (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
Purpose of this thesis is to describe the context-based compression methods and their application to multimedia data. There is described the principle of arithmetic coding and prediction by partial matching method, including creation of the probability model. There are also described multimedia data and the basic principles of their compression. The next section presents compression methods, that I implemented at work and their results.
Implementation of Statistical Compression Methods
Beněk, Tomáš ; Polok, Lukáš (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis deals with the statistical compression methods. This work describes basic theoretical introduction to the data compression and the most important representatives of statistical methods. There is also described compression process based on the Burrows-Wheeler algorithm, which is implemented in the form of portable library in C++ programming language. This work compares effectiveness of each method on suitable data corpus, which contains various data types and according to achieved results discusses suitability of usage of methods and possible improvements.
Improvements of JPEG Format
Liška, Radek ; Polok, Lukáš (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis deals with lossy still image compression algorithms used in JPEG standard. All compression steps according to this standard are described in detail. My objective is to introduce and implement improvements that would result in increased compression ratio while adhering to the structure of the standard. At the end of the thesis, the implementation is compared to standard implementation and additional possible improvements are proposed.
Network Game Using Nokia Qt SDK
Pramuka, Tomáš ; Mlích, Jozef (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This work is about application design of network game, developed in Nokia Qt SDK for the mobile device Nokia N900. Application afford opportunity to play game in real time for two players. Work contains informations about mobile device Nokia N900, both hardware and software part, informations about developing applications in Nokia Qt SDK and informations about tools and features of Nokia Qt SDK. Work also contains application design.
Web-Based Demonstration of Linear Filtering
Novotný, Ondřej ; Bařina, David (referee) ; Černocký, Jan (advisor)
The aim of this work is to create a demonstration application of discrete linear filtering. The introductory section summarizes the theory of digital filtering and filter design. The following chapter describes the existing applets. Subsequently, the concept of the demonstration and its implementation are described. The final part contains tutorial examples of using the demonstration and summary of users' reactions.
Deriche Edge Detector
Němec, Zbyšek ; Bařina, David (referee) ; Herout, Adam (advisor)
This thesis presents the Deriche edge detector as an interesting alternative to the commonly used edge detectors. The Deriche edge detector's design is presented to the reader as well as its strengths and weaknesses. Performance issues of the Deriche edge detector are described in comparison with the Canny edge detector together with recommendations for using the Deriche detector. Finally, edge detection quality of the Deriche edge detector is compared to the Canny edge detector using robust subjective evaluation method.
Lossless Video Compression
Kafka, Jan ; Polok, Lukáš (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis is about the lossless video compression using 3D prediction. At first is introduced the necessary theory about image data modification. This part serves to define important terms, which are needed to start the creative work itself. Then several variants of codec's structure proposals follow, as well as the choice of methods and description of expected characteristics. Here we can get the first idea how the codec works. Then there is a description of some implementation's details, which could give a detailed insight into the codec's inner architecture. In the last part of the work, the implemented codec is tested and its characteristics are compared to another lossless codecs. The result is that the own codec, using the 3D prediction, can defeat all other tested codecs with its compression ratio.
Image Compression Using the Wavelet Transform
Kaše, David ; Klíma, Ondřej (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
This thesis deals with image compression using wavelet, contourlet and shearlet transformation. It starts with quick look at image compression problem a quality measurement. Next are presented basic concepts of wavelets, multiresolution analysis and scaling function and detailed look at each transform. Representatives of algorithms for coeficients coding are EZW, SPIHT and marginally EBCOT. In second part is described design and implementation of constructed library. Last part compare result of transforms with format JPEG 2000. Comparison resulted in determining type of image in which implemented contourlet and shearlet transform were more effective than wavelet. Format JPEG 2000 was not exceeded.
Wavelet Transform in Image Processing
Dostál, Martin ; Klíma, Ondřej (referee) ; Bařina, David (advisor)
The wavelet transform has been used for several decades and it is still an object of research - especially its recent modifications which are using the so-called second generation wavelets. It has several advantages over other integral transformations. The most important of them are the ability to localize both in time and frequency and an ability to decorrelate some real non-stationary signals such as images. For this reasons, the wavelet transform became an often used tool in many image processing tasks, for example in image compression, edge detection or contrast enhancement. In this thesis, the wavelet transform is explained, including the theoretical foundation and implementation for use with two-dimensional discrete signals. Some of the applications of the wavelet transform are presented and described. The wavelet transform showed to be suitable tool for edge detection, noise reduction, contrast enhancement and HDR compression.
Advanced Image Edge Detection
Mezírka, Martin ; Bařina, David (referee) ; Španěl, Michal (advisor)
The goal of this work is to investigate options how to apply trainable edge detection algorithm Structured forest for fast edge detection to information extraction from historici maps and medical images. For the work, annotated dataset was created and the detektor was tested on it. Structured forest achieved better results on map data, compared with classical detectors. Success rate of finding edges of bones was similar at both approaches. Aim of the work is focused on comparing different image annotation styles, experiments with dataset, including determining parameters and evaluation of the methods.
