Mercury Removal from Waste Incineration Flue Gas: Heterogeneous Oxidation and Capture by Waste-Derived Fly Ashes.

During waste incineration, all Hg-content is released primarily as elemental mercury (Hg0) which passes into the flue gas and is gradually oxidized. Mainly HgCl2 is formed, by both homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions. Some degree of Hg removal is achieved by existing conventional air pollution control devices (APCDs), normally used to control NOx, SO2, and dust emissions. In this study, three samples of fly ashes from boiler and ESP (characterized by composition, surface area and carbon content) derived from MSW incineration were assessed for mercury removal under MSW incineration conditions in a laboratory scale, using a fixed-bed reactor packed with fly ash. The results obtained showed that unburnt carbon content, composition of flue gas (e.g. mainly HCl and SO2 content) and operating temperature are important variables controlling capture of mercury by fly ash.

Nanoparticle Generation for Follow-Up Exposure Studies by Oxidation of Copper Acetylacetonate.

The exposure to nanoparticles (NPs) represents a severe problem to human health, because they are becoming more widely used and their number of applications continually increases. Particles containing copper are emitted from smelters, iron foundries, power stations and municipal incinerators (WHO, 1998), as well as from brake linings during braking, Kukutschova et al. (2011). Copper and copper oxide NPs are frequently used as catalysts, heat transfer fluids in machine tools (Kim et al., 2011), inks, anode material in lithium-ion batteries (Guo et al., 2002) and many others. Even though CuO NPs were found highly toxic, Karlsson et al. (2008) and it is likely that NPs enter human body via respiratory tract, the inhalation exposure experiments of CuO NPs with laboratory animals are still rather rare (Pettibone et al., 2008 and Lebedova et al., 2016). The exposure chamber for long lasting inhalation experiments was constructed at the Institute of Analytical Chemistry of the CAS (Večeřa et al., 2011) and some methods of NPs generation for these experiments were already tested in our laboratory (Moravec et al., 2015 and Moravec et al., 2016a). The generation of Cu/Cu2O NPs by thermal decomposition of copper acetylacetonate (CuAA) was reported by Moravec et al. (2016b) and here we present the results of long lasting generation of NPs by oxidation of CuAA.

Between sport and ideology. Czechoslovak military sport in the Years 1948−1963

In this bachelor thesis I deal with military sport in Czechoslovakia in the Years 1948-1963. I examine the patterns of unified physical education and sport, military sport at high performance level and mass sport activity. I pay great attention to high performance sport. After the Communist Party seized the power sport became a significant factor in Czechoslovak society. The Army was an important part of the complex of changes in Czechoslovak sport that occured after 1948. It allowed the talented athletes to achieve a high performace level of sport and provided them with proper conditions. Physical education and sport became compulsory parts of military training. In the initial chapter I discuss the development and character of sport in Czechoslovakia since the end of World War Two untill the establishing of Czechoslovakia union of physical education. In the second chapter I clarify the concept of high performace sport and present the periodization of military high performance sport. Third chapter containes data on physical education and mass sport activity in Czechoslovak Army. In the last chapter I demonstrate an attitude of communist regieme to the making of the New socialist man.

Termination of the flat lease

The topic of the thesis is the termination of the flat lease and the methods of termination with a deeper focus on the legal aspects of termination of flat lease by giving discharge to the tenant. At the same time the work concerns about other institues of substantive and procedural law which is directly related with this issue. The thesis is divided into eight chapters. The main topic is dealed in chapter four, five and the most comprehensive chapter six, which presents more than half of the whole thesis.

Contractual Fine

The topic of this thesis is the institute of contractual fine according to the applicable adjustments in the Civil Code. In eleven chapters is analyzed the historical development of this institute, as well as recent regulation compared with the new Civil Code (Law No. 89/2012 Coll.) and foreign regulations of Austria, Germany, Switzerland and Spain. There is also dealed the issue of the amount of the contractual fine, as well as issue of entitlement to a contractual fine and other topics. Part of the work was also devoted to the relevant case law.

The ratio of second to fourth digit length and sport performance in recreational and top snowboarders

The second (index finger) to fourth (ring finger) digit length ratio (2D:4D) is known to be a putative marker of prenatal exposure to the testosterone. It has been reported that fetal testosterone may be critical for development of morphological and psychological traits such as quality of the cardiovascular system, visuo-spatial ability, risk-taking behavior and behavioral masculinity. Testosterone-driven attributes are associated with success in male-to- male physical competition, which may be proxied by ability in sports. Many studies have found that 2D:4D is sexually dimorphic and low (male-typical) 2D:4D ratio is associated with athletic performance. This study aims to investigate possible associations of performance in sport with 2D:4D ratio, personality characteristics (Big Five model), willing to take risks and training habits, in a sample of 57 top and 57 recreational snowboard racers. We did not find any associations between 2D:4D ratio and sport performance, no significant differences were found in 2D:4D ratio between samples. We found negative associations between agreeableness and sport performance; individuals with low agreeableness achieved higher results in the real competition of freestyle snowboarding. The Czech National Bank, its legal position and scope of activities My diploma thesis deals with the legal position and the scope of activities of the Czech central bank. The central bank holds an important position, as it is able to to influence the state's economic situation. This thesis is divided into three chapters, the first deals with the issue of central banking in general. It contains the basic theoretical framework, which is important for further interpretation. Main focus is given to the defining attributes of the central bank, differences in view and approach to central banking and objectives that it should achieve. The second part deals with the historical development of the central banking in the Czech Republic and its predecessors. It follows the creation and transformation of the institution from Austro-Hungarian monarchy over to the period of the First Republic and discusses the situation in the Protectorate of Bohemia and Moravia and in communist Czechoslovakia. The chapter is closed by description of changes to central banking following the Velvet Revolution in 1989 and the path to the modern independent central bank.
