My aim is to discuss the French correspondence with regard to the historical context. I discuss the Czech international relations - primarily with France - in relation to the Czech National Revival and the emancipation of the Czech nation in 1848-1914. Further on, I consider the relevant personal and professional acquaintances of Jaroslav Vrchlický throughout his life. Abstract The thesis entitled De l'implication du metteur en scène dans l'interprétation de Tartuffe examines the most important problems and storylines in two stage interpretations of Tartuffe. The aim of this thesis is to compare the play in French and Czech and analyze the similarities and differences between two versions. Moreover, this work is intended to show how directors at La Comedie-Française and Realistické Divadlo put the comedy on the stage guided by their personal perception of the original text or translation and to what extent they follow the rules of classicism. The thesis consists of an introduction, a methodological section, seven main chapters and a conclusion. The introduction is devoted to a general description of Molière and King Louis XIV. The methodological section outlines the structure of the thesis. The following chapters constitute the core of the thesis. Abstract: The thesis treats the works of Jean-Baptiste Poquelin also known as Molière and their legacy in modern Czech theatre. It characterizes French society of the seventeenth century and the main features of contemporary philosophical and artistic styles, focusing on the dramatic creation of classicism. It also summarizes the life of Molière and his work, subdividing it according to generic, formal and thematic criteria. Within this frame, it gives a detailed analysis of the most important plays, representing the individual categories. It also studies the modern Czech theatrical stage. Focusing on the historical context, it explores the development of the stage from the end of the Second World War until nowadays. It gives a complex outline of Molière's plays presented during the different periods, evaluating the influence of cultural and historical context on the particular interpretation. This evaluation is based on the information presented in contemporary press and promotional materials of the given theatres and thus examines Molière's plays performed on Czech theatre stages in the present. Resemblance of the heroines of Madame de Lafayette

The diploma thesis deals with a literary creation of Madame de Lafayette, one of the most important French writers, of not only 17th century, and her three novels The Princesse de Clèves, The Princesse de Montpensier and The Comtesse de Tende. The first part of the thesis regards to a social situation in France during the reign of Louis XIV and it also offers the literary-historical insight into this period. The next part devotes to public acceptance of writer's novels both in the period of their publication and in later times. Following chapters deal with the analysis of these novels as far as the main characters and plot are concerned as well as from the linguistic and stylistic point of view. The final part focuses on a phenomenon called paraître, or appearance, which is typical for all three novels and which significantly influences plot as well as psychology of characters. Identity and variations in the novel Lignes de faille by Nancy Huston

The present study compares identity formation of the narrators in the novel Lignes de faille, who are six years old children of four consecutive generations. The aim of the thesis is to link and analyze two basic elements of Huston's creation, namely identity and variations. The first part of the study deals with the definition of identity and then describes the stages of identity formation according to the psychosocial concept of Erik H. Erikson. Afterwards, the thesis outlines family environment factors such as family composition, parenting style or religious denomination that contribute to the formation of identity. The second part of the comparative study focuses on the similarities and differences between the four children stories of which the novel is composed. The analysis deals with variations related to body perception, religious beliefs and family models. The thesis provides a point of view of the identity formation of the children and at the same time shows how the reactions to the factors that affect this formation resemble or differ across the four stories.
Linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation

This thesis is focused on the linguistic and didactic interpretation of translation. Its objective is to introduce the reader to the issues of language-focused findings, which are reflected in translators' work and besides, to describe the situation of didactic contribution of translation in second language teaching. The work is divided ino two main parts. In the first one, there is translators' work and his competences being presented on the ground of chosen linguistic theories. These are further extended by a practical part of description and analysis of translation methods. The whole thesis is being closed by the second part which mediates the didactic point of view of the given issue. The basic overview facts of actual situation of the use of translation in modern language classes are summarized in here.
Representation of Death in Legendary Tales by François-Marie Luzel, Anatole Le Braz and François Cadic

This thesis aims to approach the representation of the death in the Britannic folklore throughout the work of three important Britannic folklorists: Marie-François Luzel (1824- 1895), his disciple Anatole Le Braz (1859-1926) and abbé François Cadic (1864-1929). The work describes how the vison oh the death developed historically in the Celtic mythology and in Christianism. To give a more complex idea of Britannic folklore the thesis treats its typical aspects, describes the genesis and the transformation of its emblematic character, Ankou, and briefly presents the world of deceased souls, commonly called Anaon. It aims furthermore to introduce the life and the motivation of the three authors and to portray the socio-cultural context in contemporary Brittany. The second part is firstly based on the analysis of some chosen mythological tales and the courteous novel Lancelot ou le Chevalier de la charrette by Chrétien de Troyes, examining its characters by means of the archetypal triangle proposed by Daniela Hodrová and the initiatory journey of the main characters. Secondly, the work explains what the "veillée" represents in the oral literature, as well as its connection to the "récit légendaire" (developed by Le Braz) which is later compared to the Luzel tale. Title of the thesis: A reflection of historical events in Voltaire's writing - Candide Key words: Voltaire Theological questions Philosophical questions History Critique This Bachelor's thesis A reflection of historical events in Voltaire's writing - Candide deals with Voltaire's view on the contemporary and historical events in Candide. The aim of the thesis is to sum up Voltaire's basic ideas related to historical events and to provide the author's views regarding these events. The thesis is divided into five chapters. The first chapter provides a concise summary of the most important moments of Voltaire's life. The second chapter is subdivided into three sub-sections and follows up the religious questions and their impact on historical events. The first sub-section of the second chapter deals with the elementary concepts of the author concerning theological and philosophical questions. The second sub-section denounces the Leibniz's conception of the Optimism «All is good». The third sub-section provides the critique of the Inquisition.
