William Lyon Mackenzie King and Development of the British-Canadian Relations, 1921-1930
Šubrt, Martin ; Valkoun, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Horčička, Václav (referee)
This thesis is focused on an analysis of British-Canadian relations in 1921-1930, ie. mostly the first two terms of office of the Canadian Prime Minister William Lyon Mackenzie King, who significantly contributed to the change of relations of the oldest British dominion and his mother country. The thesis analyses the position of Canada towards Great Britain and the influence of the then British and Canadian government on the development of mutual relations, which have gone through important changes and led to the greater measure of Canadian independence in the chosen period. Specifically, the thesis will focus on the context of key international events, which had an impact on the British-Canadian relations: the Chanak crisis, the Halibut Treaty between Canada and the United States of America, the King-Byng affair (1926), the Imperial Conference of 1926 and the Canadian activity in the League of Nations.
The creditor protection law within corporate debt financing

The creditor protection law within corporate debt financing Abstract In this paper I have dealt with the protection of a creditor in debt corporate financing, where the debtor is a capital company. In this case, there are relatively specific conflicts of interest between creditors on one hand and shareholders on the other. This is due, in particular, to the characteristics of a capital company where the shareholders are not liable for the liabilities of the company (or they are limited in their liability) and are not responsible for their decisions, while the assets of the company are separated from the assets of the shareholders. Shareholders and creditors thus make competition for company assets. While the shareholders want to realize their investment as quickly as possible, they stand in an imaginary queue as residual creditors of the company at the end. This may lead to their attempt to overtake fixed creditors. This motivation culminates especially in situations where the company is in financial difficulties. Shareholders are aware of the fact that in case of insolvency, no company assets will be distributed to them. In this thesis, I focus on protection of creditors of companies from opportunistic behaviour of shareholders, who may withdraw the company's assets at the expense of its creditors, i.e....
British-Canadian Relations 1931-1940: From the Statute of Westminster to the Treaty of Ogdensburg
Šubrt, Martin ; Valkoun, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Soukup, Jaromír (referee)
This bachelor thesis analyses the development of political relations between Great Britain and Canada in the era between the Statute of Westminster in both countries (1931) and the signing of the defensive agreement in Ogdensburg between Canada and the United States of America (August 1940). The thesis discusses the attitude of both countries to the key events and developments of the period: the Great Depression, the Imperial Economic Conference in Ottawa (1932), the financial problems of the Dominion of Newfoundland, the Imperial Conference in London (1937) and the threat of another world war. When the Second World War started in September 1939, Canada joined the war on the side of its mother country. The rapid changes, however, had made Canada move closer to the United States of America in the economic and military spheres.
Long-term functional consequences of early clonazepam exposure in immature rats
Šubrt, Martin ; Kubová, Hana (advisor) ; Landová, Eva (referee)
Benzodiazepines (BZs) are widely prescribed because of broad spectrum of therapeutic effects. Under specific conditions they can be used during the pregnancy and early postnatally in humans. However, clinical studies suggest their possible behavioral teratogenicity even though it is difficult to separate consequences of early BZs exposure from underlying pathologies in clinical practice. Therefore experimental studies can help us to determine risks of early BZs treatment for later development. Present study was designed to assess functional consequences of early exposure to clonazepam (CZP). Immature rats were exposed to therapeutically relevant doses of CZP (0.1 - 1 mg/kg/day). CZP was administered for five consecutive day starting at postnatal (P) day 7. Behavioral tests started 24 hours after the last CZP injection (i.e. at P12) and continued up to the age of 4 months. Battery of behavioral tests evaluating cognitive functions, motivation and emotionality was used in this study. Present data show that early CZP exposure does not affect memory and learning abilities, but it leads to the increase of locomotor activity, decreased motivation and impairment of long term habituation. None of these effects was clearly dose-dependent. Importantly, early CZP-exposure changed social behavior (social interactions...
