Iranian nuclear program has presented a problem for many years. Even though the regime in Tehran has not formally announced its quest to develop nuclear weapons and has actually denied such accusations, the international community concluded from the actions of the regime that the development of nuclear weapons is the ultimate goal of Tehran. The United States reacted to the course of events and tried to limit the program or stop it altogether. The Bush Administration was not an exception in this regard. Even though the attitude towards Iran changed during 2001 - 2009, the nuclear program progressed further and still presents a great danger. Not only politicians but also academics, experts and analytics were trying to answer the question how to curb the program most effectively. This thesis analyzes and compares concepts of scholars with the actual policy practiced by the Bush Administration and finds out that both approaches vary quite significantly. While the majority of scholars recommended the administration to limit the economic sanctions and refrain from aggressive rhetoric concerning the possibility of military action, the American government tightened the sanctions and sustained the option of intervention. Since Iran still continues with its nuclear program, it can be asserted that the...
Introducing Nursing Care Standard to the Anaesthesiology Clinic
Štěpánková, Jitka ; Holmerová, Iva (advisor) ; Vaculíková, Barbora (referee)
Nowadays, "quality" is a much-used term in connection with the provision of healthcare. Every healthcare provider has as its goal the provision of high-quality services. Its up to each of them to decide both how ambitious they can be in the pursuit of patient satisfaction and how best to achieve this. At the IKEM Anaesthesiology Clinic, we provide post-operative care for patients after cardiac surgery. In the early stages of recovery, patients can suffer acute pain accompanied by a whole range of other symptoms. Insufficient analgesia prevents patients attempting adequate breathing rehabilitation and early post-operative mobilisation. Some patients accept pain as part and parcel of surgery. Even though they are in pain they don't think to ask for analgesia. For these reasons, we decided to research how the patient views his own comfort and rates his experience of the medical care provided in the post-operative department. By means of simple organisational measures - increasing the frequency and relevance of patient feedback, by standardising procedures and introducing standard practices into the analgaesic therapy, it is possible to increase patients' comfort. And this without increasing costs and without unnecessary side-effects.

State Approach to Volunteers
Štěpánková, Jitka ; Frič, Pavol (advisor) ; NÁHRADNÍ, OPONENT (referee)
The diploma thesis "State Approach to Volunteers" deals with the evolution of the state's relationship to voluntary activities in Czech society, with an emphasis on the period since 1989. The starting point is the setting of volunteerism into the context of postindutrial society, which urges us to revise our values orientation, the possibilities of the labour market, our access to life-long education and our level of social cohesion. The essay pays attention to the analysis of the state's approach to the phenomena of volunteerism (in the role of a supporter) and to the resulting position of volunteers in Czech society, stressing the steps that were made to support volunteerism by the state. It analyses the statistical data that deals with the characteristics of organisation, and the projects that have been supported in connection with the Act on Voluntary Service 198/2002. Further, it presents a comparison of the problematic fields of Czech legislation on volunteering with the Polish and Hungarian legislation on volunteering. Finally, it suggests steps and arrangements that could be used in the further support of voluntary activities in the Czech environment.

Title: Development of Competencies in Scientific Education through the Active Work of Pupils (Focused On Field Trips) Abstract The overall concept and strategy of science education is undergoing significant changes, the basic starting curricula are designed to develop key competences necessary for personal development and success of each member of society. Therefore, in addition to traditional, perhaps best methods and forms come into the forefront more participatory and inquiry- based approaches that encourage creative approach to teaching and emphasize their own initiative pupils. The Role of the Atomic Weapon in the Foreign Policy of the United States during the Korean War
Štěpánková, Jitka ; Bečka, Jan (advisor) ; Calda, Miloš (referee)
Atomic bomb has had a profound impact on the international relations after the end of the Second World War. It became not only an effective military weapon, but as the American statesmen hoped, it could also served as an instrument of foreign policy and become a political and diplomatic asset. The United States wanted to use the atomic weapon to obtain concessions from the USSR and in general, to deter the enemy. This thesis analyzes the role of the atomic bomb in the first "hot" conflict of the Cold War - the Korean War. The atomic bomb, according to American military planners, should have played a crucial role in the US military plans, but in a limited war, which the Korean conflict turned out to be, their concepts proved to be inapplicable and as a result, the nuclear weapon was not used in combat operations. The atomic bomb was thus used in the Korean War not as a military weapon, but as a political instrument. President Eisenhower and his Secretary of State John F. Dulles, for example, believed that the nuclear threats which they had addressed to their communist adversaries, led to the armistice in Korea 1953. By analyzing the steps made by the American politicians as well as the theoretical studies focusing on the nuclear weapons as a deterrent in foreign policy, however, it can be argued that the...
