Evaluation of client satisfaction with harm reduction progamme No Biohazard
Nováková, Kristýna ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Janíková, Barbara (referee)
Background: In this work, I deal with adequacy of services and needs of clients within the No Biohazard program. The purpose of the evaluation is important particularly for directors and program managers. It is the directors and managers who are often asked to justify the need for their programs. Client satisfaction is believed to be a concept that is well understood by clients, the public, public authorities and other institutions that provide funding to these organizations (WHO, UNDCP & EMCDDA, 2000). Aims: The main goal was to find out the satisfaction of clients with the offered interventions offered by the No Biohazard program to clients, optionally how particular aspects of interventions could be improved. Research questions identify sources of dissatisfaction with the interventions offered. Partial goals also include finding out the level of client satisfaction with the local and time availability of No Biohazard, creating a proposal to increase the level of No Biohazard and finally designing an inventory of Harm Reduction material that could be offered to outreach program clients. Research file: The research sample is drug users who should meet the EMCDDA definition of problem drug users. I chose respondents to the research through institutions - it was an institutional selection with a...
Availability of alcohol for children and youth in Prague
Špinar, Vojtěch ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Chomynová, Pavla (referee)
Background: Alcohol usage is a common patological behaviour among youth throughout the whole world. In adolescents many are subjected to first experiments and risk adverse health consequences on their development, which they cannot fully comprehend. Czech people are one of the most drinking nations. Heavy alcohol consumption is related to availability. Means to reduce alcohol availability include raising the minimal legal age, reducing density of licenced outlets, pricing policy, law enforcement and regulations on alcohol marketing. Aims: The study aims to discover the patterns of alcohol usage among youths in Prague and how subjectively accessible alcohol is. Methods: Data were collected in February 2020 by questionnaire inquiry. Population consisted of children and youths (of ages 11-17), clients of drop-in centers in Prague, who have had an experience with alcohol. The sample consisted of 100 respondents. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and displayed by graphs and tables. Results: The most common alcohol among respondents is hard liquor (57%). Twenty-eight percent of respondents said they drank alcohol at least once a week. Usually they buy it themselves (41%) and they drink outside (56%). Most respondents (37%) said that they never have problem getting alcohol and usually buy it in...
How team strategy in football influence players' market value
Knapp, Milan ; Pleticha, Petr (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
This work investigates the effect of team strategy in professional football on the value of players on the transfer market. The research is conducted on player- level data from the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Spanish La Liga, Italian Serie A and French Ligue 1 in season 2018/2019. Price is explained by player-related attributes like age and height, performance data and by team- related statistics. We are specifically interested in the significance of team data and their relationship with playing strategy. Results of the work show strong evidence that different playing strategies influence players' value which makes optimization for maximal value of the team squad possible. Demand for Non-Residential Parking in Prague
Šarboch, Matěj ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Nevrla, Matěj (referee)
Parking is an important issue of everyday life. Nowadays, as the amount of cars is rising, to find a free parking space is paramount. There are issues such as cruising for parking and parking spillovers, which need to be dealt with using sensible parking regulation. This regulation should represent a compromise between the municipality, the residents and the drivers. To know the effects of any regulation, we first need to examine how the demand for non-residential parking is affected and by which factors. This thesis is trying to identify the factors that affect the demand for non-residential parking and to what extent. To model the parking demand, data from Golemio Prague City Data is used. The main results are that the demand for parking is negatively affected by price and that it is price inelastic. It is affected differently in different parking zones and varies during the week and the year. The results could serve as a tool for the municipality of Prague to handle this issue in eventual future reforms of the system.
Impact of investors' mood on European stock markets
Rosol, Jaroslav ; Kočenda, Evžen (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
This thesis investigates into relationship of mood and stock markets. As proxies for mood we selected Daylight Savings Time changes, Lunar cycles and football results. Any abnormal returns on related days would present a challenge for Efficient Markets Hypothesis. We examine stock returns on corresponding days using up-to-date daily data of European All Share indices and analyse them us- ing ARMA-GARCH model. Our results for Daylight Savings Time change are neither uniform nor statistically significant with one exception. Even though results for Lunar cycles mostly follow expected positive relationship, they also lack statistical significance. For France and Croatia we find statistically signif- icant negative relationship between wins of national teams and stock returns, which goes against our expectations and previous research. Statistically sig- nificant negative relationship is expected for days after losses and potential elimination of national teams from competition as we confirmed for Croatia and Italy. Spatial Analysis of the Motherhood Wage Gap in the Czech Republic
Vlčková, Radka ; Pertold-Gebicka, Barbara (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Using the Czech household microdata, I analyze the regional variations of the motherhood wage gap in the Czech Republic. By this spatial analysis, I aim to detect discrepancies between metropolitan areas and rural localities. Such a study has not yet been carried out in the Czech Republic. Accounting for individual characteristics and working history of employed women, I ob- serve both positive and negative wage gaps but only in several regions. Such findings can be explained by cultural differences, individual self-selection into higher paid jobs or by employers' approach to mothers. For the remaining regions, there is not enough evidence of the motherhood wage gap presence. The hypothesis that in socially excluded localities the wage gap is largest is rejected. Additional examination of the formal childcare provision shows that increase of the kindergartens' occupancy rate significantly decreases salaries of both mothers and childless women. This result is consistent with the previous Czech research. Keywords Motherhood wage gap, Spatial analysis, Czech Republic, Kindergarten JEL classifications D63, J13, R23 1
Efficiency analysis of cultural spending in Czech municipalities
Holušová, Lucie ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Špolcová, Dominika (referee)
The aim of this study is to assess local expenditures on the culture of municipalities in the Czech Republic and the effect of the exogenous variables on its level. The thesis analyses the efficiency for 205 Czech municipalities of extended scope in the years 2014-2016. Based on the previously published works the expenditures of municipalities of extended scope on culture were used as the input. Output variables were chosen to match the input variable. The estimation is performed using the Data Envelopment Analysis under different returns to scale assumptions. Lastly, several potential effects on the estimated efficiency are considered and analysed. Our results suggest that 6 out of 9 exogenous variables used in the analysis are statistically significant and affect the level of efficiency (e.g.: number of inhabitants, rate of unemployment, the share of elderly people etc.). Drug-dependent mothers in the Therapeutic community Karlov and the importance of guilt in child upbringing
Kubištová, Natálie ; Šťastná, Lenka (advisor) ; Lososová, Amalie (referee)
Background: Women with substance abuse problems have distinctive features and face many difficulties arising from their gender specificities. Among them, motherhood is significantly represented, which, combined with the abuse of addictive substances, fundamentally changes its profile, from experience, to the way these women relate to their children. These ways are burdened with many experiences, processes and emotions, which subsequently block the establishment of appropriate education. Aim: The aim of the thesis was to find out whether women with addiction problems feel guilty and shy in relation to their children, or map out where these feelings come from and what forms them. Another key objective was to reveal whether these feelings could create barriers in relation to the child, and especially in education. The last goal of the thesis was to evaluate whether, in addition to these determinants, other variables occur, or which ones are entering into the process of remediation. Methodology: Data collection took place in spring 2019 in the Therapeutic Community Karlov. A semi-structured interview was conducted with clients and specific observed situations of maternal interactions with the child were described. Research sample: The sample was created by 5 clients of the Therapeutic Community...
Airbnb taxation
Luková, Veronika ; Poláková, Nikol (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Airbnb is an internet platform that provides mediation of accommodation operating according to the principles of a shared economy. Because it is a new type of business, it is an environment with very limited regulation, but it has a big influence on the housing market. Especially in Prague, which currently lacks flats for long-term lease. This thesis is to be the very first to provide a unique view of the Prague market and then it discusses possible ways of regulation in the form of taxation of professional hosts. At the same time, the thesis analyzes determinants of the price of accommodation using the hedonic model. These results are then used to estimate the host revenue. According to the results, the regulation and form of taxation should be supplemented by a maximum short-term rental period of 135 days per year, so that the owners of the property are motivated to rent it out primarily for long-term.
The role of modern technologies and the Internet in preschool children: The risks of their use from a perspective of their parents
Rokosová, Kateřina ; Vacek, Jaroslav (advisor) ; Šťastná, Lenka (referee)
Background: The number of preschool children using modern technologies and the Internet is growing rapidly, but the consequences of this behaviour on individual development are unknown. Aim: The aim of this research is to map the issue of the use of modern technologies and the Internet by preschool children and to focus on problematic, addictive behaviour and risks related to these technologies based on the statements of the children's parents. Methods: The data were collected through qualitative research using a semi- structured interview with the parents. In total, 8 interviews were conducted, rewritten into text and further modified using coding and categorization methods. Results: One of the main findings of the study is that watching TV and YouTube videos dominates preschool children's media use. More than half of preschool children own a tablet. Problematic or addictive behaviour is more commonly caused by using tablets or mobile devices other than different technologies. Parents underestimate risks of the use of modern technologies and the Internet. They set rules based only on their own beliefs and the rules are often inadequate and lead to children's undesirable behaviour. Conclusion and recommendation: It is necessary to continue the research in the field of use of modern technologies...
